and wondering how many years I have until I have to talk to my 10 year old son about marijuana...and what will I tell him? That it is legal? That it is an all natural herb? What if he doesn't condone it - what if I am raising a...*gasp* CONSERVATIVE???

My son has never seen it or handled it. He may have smelled it, but I burn so much oil and stuff that he wouldn't know the difference. He goes to a nice Catholic school in a great part of town - I know that isn't much insurance nowadays...but you know. I just want him to be cool with the fact that I smnoke...I will be cool if he chooses it for himself - with some restrictions, of course. I just wouldn't want to lose him to the harder stuff.

do this, the earlier you talk to him about it the better. Tell him the TRUE facts about it. Tell him the TRUTH about the dare program if they have it where you live. Because personally the cop doing mine did more drugs than anyone i know. Also make sure he isnt one of them kids that turn their parents in. Not saying he is but my best friend did that to his parents and i never woulda seen that coming from him. You never can be to careful. But either way he has to draw his own conclusions from it.
And my mom always told me it was incents number nine lol

If you don't want your son to grow up to be a conservative, sending him to Catholic school is a bad idea.
I'm not sure what you should do. My parents waited until I was 16 to tell me they smoked it. Until then I had just believed my teachers and thought it was an evil narcotic that destroyed your brain and gave you cancer. While it may be a good idea to give him some correct knowledge about pot before the Catholic school tries to indoctrinate him with their narrow-minded views on it, you don't want to risk him going out and telling everybody what mommy said.

That's EXACTLY it!!
And btw, not my choice that he is in Catholic school - his dad is Italian Roman Catholic...please, don't ask me what I was thinking! lmao
I am already enlightening him to things like pre-marital sex. Mainly, as it applied ot his father and I, as he was taught in school last year how very wrong it is to have a child out of wedlock....well well well...little johnny comes home and starts preaching to ME about how his dad and I weren't married...yadda yadda...so we sat down and had a good long talk that night...he's not a mature kid - like, he's 10, and you would know he is ten. He is smart about things like dinosaurs, not sex or drugs. And he hates my music. I think that's the number one issue I have - he hates my music. The only thing we can somewhat agree on is Billy Talent...omg, I am so wrecked. I just finished smoking another one. And it's so fricken cold outside!!
What kind of music do you like. Cause even though i like classic rock i dont like the same stuff my mom does. Although she loves Led Zeppelin and so do i

Here's the update....
The son is now 14 and in high school. About a year ago I said something about going outside for a smoke. He scoffed and called me a stoner.
We began talking.
He knows I toke; he knows how I feel about the medicinal qualities, as well as the all-natural aspect. He knows I don't drink alcohol, and he knows I had a major problem with cocaine (7.5 years clean from that).
He's cool. I've grown at home and outside of my home (never having indoor lights in the same home my children live in). He has been on a balcony with plants ready to toss them over the rail when an unexpected knock came at the door.
I have explained to him that as Canadians, the show Pot City USA (or whatever it's called) does not apply to us. If I were to be picked up for what I am doing, I would be back home within 72 hours.
My daughter is now 7. She is at the stage where she sees a High Times magazine and tells anyone nearby that the plants look just like 'mummy's tomato plants'. So cute...but dangerous. I take to treating plants the way I would Christmas presents...hidden away from little eyes! ;o)
So...while I still believe my son has incredible Conservative tendencies, I am optimistic that he may one day join us in our advocacy for what is right. Legalization. Complete and unadulterated.
