[But not her first grow]
Hey all, it's time to finally document some of my [mis]adventures in the attic.
The votes are in, and after some consideration my next batch of seeds is going to be... (drumroll please)... PAPAYA!
My girlfriends are bugging me for more FRUIT in their diets. :D
This is going to be a continuation of my perpetual crop, so I'll be starting 6 or 12 seeds weekly, depending on space opening up in the grow rooms, but I'll try to follow the progress of the papaya, from start to pruning to sexing to cloning to havest.
White Rhino will probably be next on the list, then the week after, a Kush, then another fruit strain, then Power Plant, then maybe Haze, then bluemoonrocks, etc. going in the order fruity, yield, earthy, and so on.
Basic stats: Dirt grow, Botanicare nutes with organic amendments, veg under flouros then MH250, flower under HPS400 + HPS1000 as soon as the weather turns cooler.
First pics Monday.

should be good :)
im curious as to how you configure the 400, and the 1000 together, do you use both on the same patch of plants, or do you have some under the 400 and some under the 1000, or do you rotate them, or do you start with the 400, then put them under the 1000 as they mature??
thanks

im curious as to how you configure the 400, and the 1000 together,
Ideally they start under the 400 and move towards the 1000 as they mature, so they finish under the 1000.
In practice, whatever plant grows upwards fastest gets moved towards that end of the room sooner. That way the canopy is reasonably even. And I've been too lazy to tag my plants by date up to now.
Currently I'm not even running the 1000 because of summer heat, and using the 400 where the 1000 will be('departures' :D), and a MH400 on the 'new arrivals' side of the room.

Oh no! Pro style!? Nooooo..... not a pro! Just a happy gardener!
And my eyes are hazel!
Okay, here's the update as promised:
Yesterday I moistened my seeds, papaya and my freebie dreamweaver x godbud.
That was around lunchtime, and this morning 3 of the papayas had already popped.
Method as follows:
2x20mL glass vials, one for each strain, washed with detergent and water, rinsed, and sterilized with rubbing alcohol ( to kill mold spores) and rinsed again with tap water.
Vials poured out leaving just a few drops of water in them.
Seeds placed in vials, labeled, sealed, and placed in my kitchen, ambient temps in the 70s.
Prepped nursery 6-packs, soil mix is mostly compost and perlite, just a touch of topsoil mixed in.
Vials shown below.

Stinky with 1400 total watts you may want to think about starting out 2 cabs and have them timed to get a harvest every 2 months behind each other start plants in cab 1 (400) then move to cab 2 (1000) when they are 1 month into flower then start cab 1 all over :)
stinkyattic
10-01-2006, 05:35 PM
Nope, it's not a cabinet grow, and I've already got a perpetual crop in my growrooms. Not changing anything. And I've got way more watts than that-
veg room has 8 tube flouros plus a MH250, which will be replaced by the MH400 from the flower room, flower room has a HPS 400 and a MH 400 that will be replaced by my 'winter' HPS 1000.
Grow areas are each 5x10 feet.

how does that work out for you...thinking of doing a perpetual grow with the cabs together
Works out nicely.
Keeps me happy all the time.
There's always something to do- transplanting, starting seeds, harvesting, sexing, etc.
I enjoy being busy with a different project every day.
My harvest schedule works out to be around 4 plants a week (24 x 3-gallon pails + 18 5" square pots getting sexed) on an 8-week cycle in flower, and if plants take too long to mature, I just don't add new unsexed plants that week.
Similarly, in veg, they remain in that room until the nodes go alternating, and I start new seeds as needed to fill holes left by mature plants.

10-02-2006, 12:56 PM
Update, yesterday evening, 36 hours after moistening the seeds, the score is:
Papaya 10/10
Godbud X Dreamweaver 0/10, and not even a sign of splitting.
I looked up the latter on the seedboutique forum, where the breeder has a grow log. Seems he did a run of 30,000 seeds of that cross, that he calls 'dream goddess', but had some temp issues during drying, and low germination. I read between the lines that that is the reson they're being handed out as freebies... um, nice freebie. I'll update of course if any do happen to pop!
Anyhow, the papayas are all in dirt: 50% perlite 50% composted manure/humus. I'm expecting that mix to be a little on the 'hot' side with potential for slight burn, but it worked out for the BOG stuff I popped last month- they did get a bit burned, but 100% of them outgrew it quickly and growth was explosive after that.

Those peppers- yikes, I've got more than I can eat, and the plants are still flowering, and they're coming in for the winter! I abused them, didn't fertilize, didn't weed, didn't stake them, only watered once all summer, when they got set out in the garden, the dogs peed on the plants, gotta say those are 2 varieties that I will ALWAYS grow.
You may know my feelings on garden plants by now; if it's indestructible, I'll grow it every year. Already gave up on tea roses in favor of shrub and rugosa varieties, I don't really 'do' stupid impatiens or petunias becaus I refuse to deadhead them, and even lifting gladiolus bulbs in the fall is kind of a stretch, so they're going in a bed right up against the cellar wall so they can stay in the ground all year. I once had my garden located atop a septic tank just for the heat! Everything grew like crazy in that spot!

Update- one more godbud x in soil this morning.
The papayas have begun to poke out of the soil.
I took some pics of the setup to kill time during the boring, waiting stage we're in now:
First pic is an Afghan girl a month into flower
2nd is a bagseed x afghan with 2 weeks to go. She's hard as a rock.
3rd is my cloning setup, just a couple simple wick units. Easy.
4th is a whole bunch of BOG veggers about 6 weeks from seed. None has matured yet but I'm guessing they will be ready to flower in another week or 2.
5th pic is just my veg setup. It's a little messier than I should be keeping it, but I've been moving stuff around to make room for my hot pepper plants coming indoors for the winter.

Update, I'm going to fill you-all in on other aspects of my perpetual harvest projects too.
My projects last night were watering of course, checking for males of course, because those things happen daily.
I also chopped up all my accumulated dried trimmings from the past month and got them soaking in isopropanol, in glass of course, because it is nonreactive.
This morning I puttered around in the growroom, tended the seedlings, checked the progress of my clones, removed dead leaves from the cloning box and the soil in everyones' pots.
Some plants got a fresh application of diatomaceous earth.
We are supposed to have a frost tonight so I finished bringing in my garden plants. They all got sprayed off outdoors to knock off bugs, then allowed to dry on the front porch. I removed all the dead plant material on the soil surface and covered it with a perlite-rich mix and a sprinkling of D.E. Then they went into the flower room.
The papayas are doing okay, not much to report, they are stretched a bit as I expected them too as my light isn't ideal, but this always happens and I just bury them to the seed-leaves when I transplant them.
The godbud X are breaking dirt finally.
I'm also making a pot of goo hash, pics attached, it's just a homemade double-boiler with a glass top for the extract itself- easier to scrape and nonreactive of course. By the time I had to leave for work, it wasn't evaporated yet, but no biggie, I'll finish it tonight.
Pics are:
1) hash project
2) seedling area
3-5) peppers!

The 'shite powder' (I love when typos make new words that make sense in context!!!) is Diatomaceous Earth, I'm just going to call it D.E. for shortness.
It keeps my thrip problem in check. It gets out of hand fast when I stop powdering and neeming.
Mostly I just use DE on the soil surface and neem on the leaves, but the DE gets EVERYWHERE, and I use it on the leaves in late flower too when neem is out of the question.
Sometimes it gets on the lower buds but I don't care because whatever, those are the ones I pollinate and after taking seeds out they just get binned with the hash stash.

Hello Mam, He takes his hat off, old fashion or something. "Word on this thread is that you had a personal relationship with a group of afghans from the Middle East. Did they still follow the customs of their home land and ware a head dressing of sticky fat hemp fabric?
How long did they spend under your roof veging out on your banquet of fine organic morsels? Did they get too tall, or stretch out much before sleeping 12 hours a night? Did they consume allot of light, 1K or 400w? How many days did they mope around for 12 hours a day basking in the rays before they were ready to make theirselves a sacrifice on the alter of the great green Goddess?"
:Finally Mam, don't mean to pry so much." Fumbles around with his hat, pokes the toe of his boot in the floor, then asks, "Were they a fat bunch of girls? Did they put on some size, how much would you reckoned those girls weighed?" Blushes and looks sheepish.
Thank you Mam for your time, I hope I haven't offended you by prying so much.

The Afghan seeds were a trade from a friend for whom I built a rudimentary aero-cloner.
They vegged for 8 weeks from germ, like all my lovely hos.
Veg was under 2x40w flourescent tubes until 5 internodes, then under 1X250MH until 10" total height.
Nutes were good compost soil, beneficial fungi, fish emulsion, plus some fox farms grow big fed foliarly.
Lower-than-average stretch, and I saved a male for future breeding.
Nice wide fans, perfect Christmas tree form on the ones that didn't get topped.
The girl in the pic is 4 weeks in and has a beautiful frosting on ALL the single-blade leaves. She smells nice too.
She's doubled in height since 12/12
I haven't harvested any of the Afghan princesses yet, but I will let you know!!! They're definietly wearing sticky headpieces!!!

Hey, it was a close call man. I'm on exile from my "real" grow op until I can ditch my tenant. Ive got a huge-assed 2 room setup plus potting space and a water supply in the cellar, with a walk-out to the vegetable garden, that was producing like a mofo before my tenant got robbed and I got totally sketched out. They were just after cash, and never found the grow, but I decided to temporarily move to a more secure location.
But I do look forward to getting back down there and messing around with hydro again, just for giggles. You should see how totally lame my hydro table was, and how surprisingly well it worked!!!

All right, questions answered- check.
Update:
godbud x are growing remarkably well. Growth is even- the plants look IDENTICAL!
Papaya I'm a llittle mad at myself. They popped so fast and I missed getting a couple in dirt before the taproots emerged, and I'm afraid I may have damaged a couple of the longer, more vulnerable ones. It happens. But the survivors look fine and have 2 sets of adult leaves and a third starting to show.
There was nothing to harvest over the weekend because the ones that were supposed to be done have decided to sprout donkey ears like a mofo. The temps are finally down in the 70s and my plants are thanking me. I spent half an hour this morning staking buds that had collapsed under their own weight overnight!
And the next seeds getting germed as we speak are...

Cool Thx for the Pot Info Stinky, I actully thought those pots were bigger. I have a set of 8 of that size pot. that isn't the pot size you use through the whole grow is it? How tall are your plants right now? Can't that pot only really only fit a good plant till about half a foot tall?
Or I guess a better questions to ask is how tall do you let your plants go in those pots? Will you do your Bog plants right through your whole grow in that size pot? 6" by 4.5 Wide. Thats like half a gallon eh?
I would love to use those in my Cab, I could fit way more. I just assumed it was too small to house a 1ft to 1.5ft plant.
justa side note. I think I can see the seeds starting to build on my Sexing operation I have going. The flowers are looking very unfamiliar more spiky looking than Bud looking. Ill post some picts hopefully tonight.

KD- I keep the kids in those pots right up through sexing. They usually max out at about a foot by that time and have not got too rootbound by then. Then they go into 3 gallon square utility pails that I got from a Mexican restauarant. They came full of delicious local sour cream.... mmm....
Bear- The BOG seeds came from Sacred in Toronto. They are BOG mix, plus Smashberry which is a 'plan B collective' product that the Bushy Old Grower was involved in. They look beautiful, and the guy at Sacred was nice enough to let me hand-pick the seeds from their stock.... needless to say, I got 100% germination and 100% survival!
Update- 3/10 White Rhino seeds popped last night.
Nothing to harvest yet, and my veg room is getting backed up as a result! I've got small pots of sexed plants stacked on top of the big pails in the flower room waiting for buckets to become available!!! The next harvest is gonna be a sweet one.
In the meantime, I'm just doing a little cleaning and reorganization, and I added a couple CFLs to the seedling area.
Temps in the last couple days have been 69-86F, and humidity 35-45% RH. Nobody seems to mind the fluctuation though.

Hey all, I did a bit of transplanting this morning before work.
As you can see, the seedlings are stretched a bit taller than is considered good form, but whatever; they will root from the length of the stem so I don't give a rat's hiney.
The following pics are from my transplant routine, 1-5:
1 and 2) Before transplanting I get all my materials together- soil, labels, pots, and very important, I sprinkle Diatomaceous Earth in the bottom of the kitty litter tray that the pots will go into to catch runoff. This will keep pests from breeding UNDER the pots, something that is easy to forget about as you concentrate on keeping them off the LEAVES.
3) Here's a shot of the roots poking out. I think these babies want a new home!!
4) To transplant from nursery 6-packs, let the soil become somewhat dry. To release the plugs, turn the 6-pack upside-down and support the dirt in the cells with your fingers. With your other hand, sharply tap the base of the cell that you want to release. It should either slide right out, or drop out with a gentle tug of the stem.
5) Here's what the plug looks like out of its container. Note that the roots are white and hairy, and are starting to get pot-bound.
stinkyattic
10-16-2006, 06:59 PM
These pics came out really fuzzy, sorry.
Here's the rest.
1) Once the plug is out, place it on the soil that you have half-filled your pot with. Support and protect the stem with one hand while you pour the rest of the soil around the plug and stem with the other. A stretched seedling can and will sprout roots right up to the cotyledons, but you have to make sure it doesn't get a fungus from burying the stem in too-moist soil.
2) The last transplant step is watering-in. Don't press the soil with your fingers, but let the water do the work of settling it around the plug.
3) Here's a good shot of my protection, on the lookout as always for someone to drool on.
So anyway there's that.
The White Rhino are not germinating as I would like them to. Only 3 have popped after a week, and I'm concerned.
I started Super Skunk Saturday, and as of this morning, 9 have already popped and are in dirt. The last was kind of runty-looking. I managed to drop it in the dirt bucket, oops.
I found 1 more male from the BOG mix, and all the others look female that I've put into 12/12 so far, so that's um, 6 males out of 8, a healthy ratio in my book!
I think that's it; you know, just waiting for more plants to ripen. I took down a couple stragglers that looked like they were not going to really do anything to make space for more vigorous plants. There are a few massive colas in the flower room that I have to go in and check on a few times a day because they smell so damn good, and they've been falling over a lot.
Bud shots tomorrow!

Goodbye from BOG
BushyOldGrower
MY forum will be closed soon because BOG Seeds will no longer be sold here and as Gypsy says, "Why keep your forum open then"?
I quite agree. Because we no longer have an agreement it seems a no brainer.
In fact you may not see much of me at other sites either for some time.
Don't anyone be mad. Its just a change and the reasons are just business concerns. My online presence will be much reduced in the long term as well but
the need for a new secret location is paramount now. The book sales are quite robust and the book will be my main business.
When this forum closed please dont be angry at Gypsy or DG or myself. I am sorry about this. BOG This is the link www.icmag.com/ic/archive/index.php/f-19.html to the archive of the BOG forums, if you go down to What and Where is BOG you will see some stuff like this, "Thats funny, last i heard Bog was at BCBD and has recently made quite a few posts,he is not retiring and is coming out with yet another run of sour bubble.he
has also said that there should be no stock of his left at the boutique and is claiming that Gypsy was making f-2's of his work and selling as Bogs."
plan b at bc bud depot
"Like rabbit said, and i do apologize on BOG's behalf! To make a long story short, BOG was suppose to be exclusive to gypsy, but too many lies and production
of fake seeds left BOG no choice! BOG has never had any problems with BCBD, or Canadians, or anything! BOG is a loyal person, and that is why for a long
time he never left gypsy, but now that gypsy is selling fake seeds and lying about stock and stuff, it was best that we spread our wings to honest people."
In the long run, who knows, but we just want to be as informed as we can when we are doing business with these companies, hope this helps some Stinky.

-Topped a whole bunch of stuff that is technically not supposed to be part of this log, but some of it was the BOG mix and Smashberry, so it's going in here.
Here's what I did:
I've got NO space whatsoever left in my flower room; to the point, I've been reduced to putting 2 plants in one bucket if they lok runty, even though I usually think that is a bad idea!
So anyway, usually I pinch rather than fully top plants with the exception of breeder males. This time, since it's going to be a couple weeks before space opens up anyway, I topped off the terminal 3 nodes plus stem down to the 4th, and put them in my *NEW!!!!* ex-cloner. I hosed the plants down with wilt-pruf then with neem and gave them a drenching at 9AM, and after 12 hours took clones at 9pm. I sprayed them once more wioth wilt-pruf once they were on the cloner. This morning there was no sign of any wilt even though as I've said my humidity is like 35% and I'm not using a dome. I've just got one small CFL on them. Whatever, they should be fine.
What else... oh yeah, a bud shot as promised, with my favorite beverage as comparison. Yay, local microbrews!! Yay, IPA!!!
So the biggest news in my growing misadventures is that I ran out of space entirely and took over the dining room closet for mothers and clones. Who needs table linens anyway! :D
Here's a pic of the ez cloner that I picked up from the guy who I got the chocolate chunk from. I got it for $100 plus weight of some of my juicy yummy homegrown.
As you can see, a couple of the slips that are in it ARE from budded plants- kind of an experiment to see if I get better results rooting flowering plants with this thing. When I got flowering plants to root in my old wick cloner, they came out really lame and just sort of sat there with no new growth until the damned thrips ate them.
The last 2 pics are
-4 week old plants vegging happily
-another Afghan pic for Bear. Plant porn! Too bad my camera sucks, but the whole plant including the smaller fan leaves looks like it has been dusted with snow. And for all the newbs wondering what plant is hardy and easy to grow, note that this girl has been flowering about 6 weeks and shows NO SIGN of insect damage or deficiencies. That's very unusual in my garden, as I stop treating for insects after 4 weeks flowering.

Yup. I graduated University in 2000, moved to Alaska (worked out of Dutch Harbor... WOW what a place.), moved back, got a job in academia, and bought my house in spring 2004. Never looked back.
My job and the apartment that I rent downstairs pays for the mortage and car, my little garden pays for my food and heat. That's why I get so bent out of shape about punks saying, "oh, I found this plant growing wild, think I'll take it...." Bottom line, steal my plants, steal my heating fuel, my gas gets shut off, tenant moves out, lose the house. No brainer.

Well, sounds interesting. If all of those bad things ever happen to you, you can move up hear and we'll open a garden store with an Alaskan Seed/Strain business, LOL.

Sounds fantastic, or we could get a bunch of people together and do a for-profit tourist-trap organic farm/dude ranch with fly fishin, horseback trekking, getting eaten by 2 pound mosquitoes, whatever it is that tourists in Alaska enjoy!
Hey why wait on school, you sound well-spoken, time to start your novel instead! :D

LOL, that may work. I hear you can get 20 acres of tundra for pennies on the dollar and the land is already stocked with the state bird, I mean mosquitoes.
Novel? What are you a psychic? I have a few unfinished projects laying around. I think that I live in the past a little too much to stir the imagination of our fast food, gimmy, gimmy generation, not that I am as deep as the ocean yonder, but who knows, perhaps I have an old soul or something.

Tundra, mud, skeeters, mmmmm..... sounds like the LIFE!!!! Plant a couple trees for me now so when I retire they MIGHT be just big enough to hang a hammock between with your 3 week growing season ;)
Man, every time you say 'adieu' it sounds so... FINAL... like we're never going to hear from you again! How's about 'a bientot'?
Okay, we have to think what you can do with 20 acres of tundra... other than sit on it and listen to the mud gurgle.
I guess I'd better update my grow log too to stay sort of on topic...
The Gypsy's Gum I moistened day before yesterday is popped and in dirt.
Clones look excellent; they are living in the new addition to my grow empire at 71 degrees F and 50% humidity, a lot higher than upsatirs.
The very most exciting thing is that this morning I found LADYBUGS in my indoor garden!!!!! This is just super awesome. I consider it very good luck for them to find your plants, rather than having to bring them in yourself.
So they are in there wandering around, I imagine feasting on thrip larvae, and just looking kind of cute (for a big).

Over the weekend I started 3 seeds of each of the following:
BOG Black Indica
Some supa dank 'headie' bagseeds
Hindu Kush
and something else I forgot.
The cloner is chugging along and there are good roots forming now, after 8 days.
Dark temps in the growroom are dropping to the point where one of the afghan mixes I harvested this morning was showing some purpling of the bud leaves.
The silly dog got into the plants again and did some topping for me. She only ate some shitty bagseed experiments that were about to get culled anyway, as they turned out to be WAY too much sat-leaning.
The first of the smashberries went into its final big bucket, and so did a couple of the unknown BOG mixes, and one of them has this UNBELIEVEABLE grapefruit odor when you brush the leaves. If the buds are near as fruity, that's gonna be a mom!

what are u doing to control odor?
Nothing, nada, rien.
It's a stinky attic! :D
Seriously, It's on the 3rd floor of a house built into a hillside with a walkout basement, so essentially the 4th floor... high wind area... only neighbors are yuppies... can't smell a thing from the yard, and if you got close enough to be snooping my bulldog and my tenant's mastiff would eat you.
So the answer to privacy is, scope out your grow spot with that in mind.
Here's some bud porn for the morning! First pic is the first half of this week's harvest, and the second is a nice bud shot from a bud I took down before work today.
Next is some of my other crop! Mmmmm... cherry bombs!

Well nothing much is going on in the grow room but...um.. growing...
The Matanuska Thunderfuck stash seeds that a helpful Alaskan expatriate sent along have popped and broke dirt this morning. Just about the right time of year too because I have much less control over temps in the winter up there in the mostly UNINSULATED attic... aargh. So a cold-hardy variety is going to be in order.
I'm a total space case, but I'm going to try to list what I've got going in there in order of age, oldest to youngest.
My own mix (lots of plants)
A friend's 4-way knockoff- just 1
A friend's Haze x- also just 1
A couple Afghans, one topped, one 'natural'- the natural one is much nicer looking
All of the above are within 1-3 weeks of harvest
In flower, not really developed yet are:
A crapload of my own crosses
3 BOG plants- 1 smashberry, 2 unknown
Then more of the same getting sexed
Then in veg, I've got these that will be ready to force within the next couple weeks:
More BOG mix, recuperating from having clones taken
More of my crosses
Some assorted bagseeds... some that look too sat-dom are getting culled tonight, for real, I keep putting it off!
6 Papaya
10 Godbud x dreamweaver
10 Gypsy's Gum
Then the little guys
White Rhino, just a few- had problems with germ rate on those
3 Chrystal
9 Super Skunk
And finally the babies!
3 BOG/PlanB Black Indica
3 BOG Bluemoonrocks
3 Hindu Kush
All of the above are hinting at purple traits!!!
12 Matanuska Thunderfuck
Plus a few bagseeds from a friend that I expect to be FANTASTIC.
So this is how I keep things interesting, just starting a few different seeds every weekend.
Oh, and I caught aphids and greenhouse whiteflies because I was fucking lazy and forgot to run the new pots I scrounged out of the dumpster at a local nursery through the dishwasher first. I mean, WOW, I'm a friggin moron this week.
So the biggest excitement in my life for the next few days will be battling the hungry hordes of leaf-sucking insects....
I can only count my blessings that I only got 3 of the 'big 4'.... no red spider mites. Thank goodness.
Just for everyones' info, though, my preventative neem oil treatment, spraying all the plants down at least once a day, is working. The bugs are only eating my basil and hot peppers. No damage on the ladies.

I think green tea is much better for you than coffee even though it still has caffeine. I used to work at a Korean-owned steakhouse and my boss told me that every day you should drink green tea, and eat fresh raw ginger and garlic, and a teaspoon of sesame seeds for your health.
Weedman, thanks! Pics are coming up tomorrow once I charge the batt on my camera.
I'm ordering a HPS 600 from InsideSun today and toying with the idea of going to a SOG perpetual setup using 6x6x8 pots on tray tables. I have to think aout it some more. The 3-gallon buckets are a pain to lug up the stairs and move around, not too bad, but enough, and I am having a hard time keeping the canopy even.
We'll see. It will be easier once I pick out a few good moms and have an endless supply of cloned to work with.

Okay, here's some pics.
#1 is the papaya kids at however long it's been since I started the thread.
#2 is a BOG unknown at only 10 weeks.... thing is vigorous, lol. To her right in that pic is my pretty little afghani girl gettin' frosty.
#3 is those godbud x dreamweaver freebies. They've sent me like 60 seeds so far and I have to say they look pretty good, so who's complaining? :D
#4 is a tomato plant and some hot peppers that got ravaged by aphids last week. Fuckers.
#5 is my growing seed collection. The 'foxy' packets in the bottom L corner are my own design.. kind of putting the cart before the horse, but I got stoned and creative and made the woodcut for it- all without cutting any fingers off! I'll post a better pic of the design if anyone's interested. A couple peeps will be seeing it soon enough anyway.
So in the mail yesterday I got some more beans from seedbay and seedboutique:
Hashberry
Moroccan x Afghan
Purple Star (started last night, in dirt this morning!!! Wow!)
Bogglegum F2s
Spice of Life seconds.. supposed to be Sweettooth 3&4 and Blockhead
Then freebies....
MORE godbud x rofl
More stonehedge
More gypsys gum
and AKITA... it's supposed to be (annac x stakonia) can't find info on either. But I moistened them last night. BIG healthy spotty beans that look like they are gonna be some real hardhusks like the white rhinos.
I'm expecting something from Rushman this week too... we'll see if he still had what I wanted in stock!!! Can't wait.
Oh, the pest infestation is under control. Phew. No damage to the cannabis, but my peppers are hurtin'.

I think a good grower should be able to transplant without shocking the plants at all.
I also like to look at root development, and pat myself on the back when I nail the transplanting time... lots of roots showing, but not real rootbound yet.
IMHO the most efficient use of space in an indoor grow is to keep the canopy as full as possible... so keep the plants in small containers until they are just busting at the seams! Well not THAT long... :D
I just don't want to walk into my grow room and see DIRT in between the leaves. Just solid, leafy green. I've even been a very bad bad girl and put 2 plants in the same big bucket for flowering if the plants are too scraggly and runty. Spank me!!! :p

35-40 is quite a few. But you still doin gud. I have 60 in 6.5L pots under 3*600W. The buds are quite whispy/fluffy/airy. I'm after denseness atm. Using an array of chems to try and achieve beyond ordinary goals...... My bud density got better when I started giving carb supplements, even with the crappy amount of light I have. I've been alternating between Sweet, TopMax (expensive and fuckin awesome, OMG!!!) and just molasses.

Hey stinky, how long does it usually take a pepper seedling to break the soil? I planted a few just straight in dirt a week ago today. I also germinated some in a paper towel, and had a few sprout decent roots, I planted one of those too like 3 days ago. I guess I'm just used to pot which pops a root in like 18 hours and leaves in 2 days. If these peruvian purple chiles turn out to be as cool as they sound, I could mail you a few beans if you want, i have like 50.
Also, what kind of pepper would you say is the best for indoor growing, or do all perform about equally or what? And what's your favorite pepper period. Lol, sorry, I just got this raging boner for non-pot gardening like a month ago, and I have questions:dance:

I usually get seedlings in just over a week.
Sweet on the beans!!!

I LOVE Italian cherry bombs. Peperoncini. Does fine indoors, little pretty fruit, bushy plant, hot enough to make your friends cry. And that's the goal, right?

So I got a mutant, one of the Purple Star sprouted 3 cotyledons and 3 blade leaves!!! But no pics, my digicam sucks.

Also, what kind of pepperocinis? I've seen different ones, but I know i like the ones they give you with your pizza from papa johns  Lol, when i used to deliver for them I'd load up like a handful of peppers on top of the pizza box in the hot bag and munch on them while I drove around. I smoked more weed delivering pizza than I had at any other job lol. Like a non-stop route.
I dug up a few seeds to see wtf their problem was (from the experiment cup with all the seeds in it) and they actually had almost an inch of root, but they had worked themselves an inch below soil. I re-planted it like 1/4 inch below the top, just for shits and giggles.

I usually stick a couple in each hole so I can cull the runty one.
I don't know exactly where you can get them; I got mine at the christmas tree shops in Massachusetts.. the packet was all in Italian... "Peperoncini Calabrese"... little, perfectly round, intensely red. Let me go do a search of seed catalogs and I'll remember to take pics of my peppers over the weekend.

Well, the purple one is already above ground even though it wasn't germinated in a baggie first and was planted a few days after the others. The cayenne I transplanted a single germinated seed of to a large pot is barely lifting the dirt and I can see it but its not out yet. And the jalapenos have about 3 popping out of the same pot that look just like the cayennes. Lol, hopefully I kept track of which is which, I kinda fucked up my labeling system. I guess I'll be able to tell which is which soon enough. So about 4-5 total sprouts. Also I transplanted another one of the purple seeds I was germinating. They are the only seeds I've ever germinated that have their taproots turn fuzzy (like little hairlike roots) while in the paper towel. I know the roots haven't been out of the seed for over 24 hours cause I checked them yesterday. No wonder that fucker popped fast. Even that cayenne I dug up didn't have furry roots and it was like an inch long.

It's getting hot in here with all this talk about peppers. I wonder if eating all them peppers make one's poop hurt. What? I was just wondering.
That would be a resounding YES. I call it the Afterburner Effect. Reminds me of the worst hangover I ever had... I was celebrating moving into my new house... just closed on it a few days earlier, no furniture yet, my bud and I were sitting on 5 gallon pails of joint compound and drinking Bloody Marys with Vietnamese chili paste in them.... HOLY HOT CRAP... you can only imagine the pain we were in the next morning.
Does anyone, Stinky, have the recipe for maintaining healthy mothers and producing strong, well rooted, clones?
I'm gonna have to say a good regimen of mostly organic ferts so the soil doesn't go all to shit with salt buildup, and a good dose of pinching and training to make the most possible side branches, plenty of water, and no fertilizer for the week before you take clones. Plus I keep them well hosed down with neem oil.

Well happy fucking monday morning, grrrr.
I NEED A COFFEEEEEEEEEEE!
Anyway I had a great weekend. Nice long hike out to a cool dam in central Vermont, plenty of good laughs, a few froofy Polynesian cocktails with umbrellas in them; all in all, a successful mini-vacation.
I did a bit of gardening on Friday. I built a breeding box out of a wire rack, some old stockings, a few bamboo BBQ skewers, a clear drop-cloth, and about a roll of duct tape. Now I can keep my breeder males happier when I flower them, no more fucking around with paper bags etc. Here's a pic of a big BOG unknown female with a little BOG unknown male perched on top of her. Now let's give them some privacy, shall we? :D
I'm still a big procrastinator and the 2 things I had planned to do this weekend; namely, finish insulation the growroom for the winter and hang my old 1000HPS, and clean the ez cloner and hack up my smashberry mom for slips, didn't happen. Oh well.
So sorry this log entry is so lame. BOOO.

Seems like this must be a pretty tiring Monday for all. Everyone needs a coffee today. I burnt the sh*t out of my tongue this morning drinking coffee too fast. I was so tired. :p
Sounds like you had a nice weekend. Mine was tiring. Nuff said.
So, that male 'box' looks cool. Is that completely airtight...or what? I mean, you did that so you could isolate the males, right? But it's clear, so are they still in veg (I didn't look that closely) then you don't have to worry about pollenation or...what?
Sorry I'm a little confused. When you flower them for pollen, won't you need a darker covering on the outside and an individual light? Or are you using the room lights for them all and just isolating that so the pollen doesn't travel...? What about the air? I'm so ....:(
I've been trying so hard to find time to update the JOURNAL, but it's hard to find time to sit down and upload over 100 more pictures! :) Will do soon, though, I hope.
Be cool.

Yeah, the box is in the corner of my flower room. Not totally sealed yet, but puts my mind at ease for the time being. For ventilation, there's a thin pillowcase at the bottom and pieces of stocking at the top... lets the bare minumum airflow to not have the plants die in the couple days that they have to stay in there for pollenation, and keeps pollen from escaping.

Hey stinky, sorry to keep hijacking your thread and talking about peppers, but I got a quick question.
Is it normal for pepper seedling leaves to curl downward? Its not like the tips of the leaves, but the whole leaves that curl. They look healthy and green, no burns, and they're developing new leaves, but it just looks kinda off to me. The purple ones are fine, both leaves point straight out. But both my jalapenos are affected. They just have a nice even round curve to the leaves with the tips pointing almost back toward the stem. I'll try and take pics tomorrow, but any ideas?

Oh my goodness what a busy day.
Just finally getting around to updating the ol' log.
Not much going on... this seems to be typical!
I found and killed a bunch more aphids this morning that came inside on my veggies. It's odd, they only go after my pepper plants and nothing else, while the thrips like munching my seedlings... go figure. You'd think ALL the bugs would want nice tender young greens!
So what's new...
I've got some more sweet tooth seeds in dirt as of this morning, and also a whole bunch of some of my own seeds, that were from a very nice female crossed with I forget. Duuuur.
I took down the best smelling plant I have EVER grown... it was from my friend's kid who breeds. He gave me a bunch of seeds from some sweet stuff we were all smoking, said it was a 4-way cross of all the basics, and even though this particular plant has been through the wringer, it still produced ridiculously sticky buds that smell exactly like CANDY. Kind of like if you stick your nose in a bag of Skittles. I seeded a bud too so there's more of that on the way with any luck.
So here's some pics, a Purple Star baby showing whorled phytolaxy (ha ha, a new geek term!). Plus the ez-cloner gets a bath, and there's a fuzzy pic of my BOG Blue Moon Rocks at about 3 weeks from seed. That one's going to be a doozie from everything I've heard/read.
Yeag, if you're following, MTF seedlings are on their 4th set of leaves and show almost NO stem. Really tight. Go Alaska! I tried to take pics but my camera is beyond horrible and they came out fuzzy. It's the last one.

Sweet Tooth has been on my wish list since I first started growing. I like any earthy, herbal, piney, or citrus-tasting buds. Not such a big fan of things like bubblegum, but each to his own I suppose.

I don't know about LST'ing garden plants per se, but if I had to start somewhere it would be training my tomatoes diagonally so the plant gets more light. But the plain boring tomato-stake method works okay for me!
I top AFTER at least 5 nodes... I basically wait for signs of side growth to form on their own. Some strains don't take well to topping; the ones that want it will definitely tell you in their own planty way. MY rule of thumb is if there's a bunch of side growth by the 5th or 6th node, that plant wants to be a big ol' shrub!
F[r]og, I see those silly multi-fruit trees in garden catalogs all the time and have yet to see one work the way it's supposed to! Kind of curious though... did it have like 5 different colors of flowers in spring too?

I like spicy chilies, Habañero, Vietnamese and so on, what do you recommend for a fairly easy grow, and should I throw them into the 24-7 cab with 175MH, or the 18/6 cab with the 400MH cab or the 12-12 room on the sides of the 1K's???
I know that some vegges grow best under 18-6 threw the whole cycle and with things like the Habañero low N and lower amounts of water with higher heat will help to produce a hotter taist, any little tips???

I've got mine under 12/12 stuck in around the sides of the 1000HPS coverage area... For easy, there are these little almost triangular or heart-shaped chilies about an inch to an inch and a half long, and maybe 3/4 to 1 inch in diameter, I have NO clue what they are but I got seeds fromo someone and they are indestructible and yield a lot of fruit indoors... never tried the 18/6 thing since I've only got 2 rooms plus my cloning closet... but they definitely like the heat! Only problem seems to be with aphids. But I have NO clue about the fertilizer... they get fish emulsion mixed in the soil, and bloom ferts with their water, and I haven't heard any bitching out of them!

I ordered 9 different types of peppers (in addition to the 4 i already have), and I traded 1 type i had for 3 more, and with any luck I'll be getting some Dorset Naga pepper seeds in trade for some heirloom tomato seeds the guy wanted.
Dorset Naga peppers are the unofficially hottest pepper in the world. The current guiness world record holder is the red savina habanero, which only was tested at 577,000 SHU while the dorsets have been tested at 876,000; 970,000; and just this past october 20th at 1,598,227 SHU. That is absolutely fuckin insane. Pure capsaicin is 16,000,000 SHU while your typical Jalapeno rates from 2,500 to 10,000 SHU.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dorset_Naga
Haha, i know that makes them practically useless except for chemical warefare, but i think a jar full of dorset's would make a nice conversation piece, since 1 full pod can hostpitalize you. :rasta:

You guys are the WORST... don't go calling me a pro!!! :D I'm NOWHERE near there, just a geek with extra space and time on her hands and a wicked sweet tooth for the stickier things in life! This whole log is kind of a growing experience... durrr that pun was unintended... for me [and the plants] and my yields are better quality every week, but nowhere near what I hope they will be someday... If you haven't seen the 'subcool's brief history of cannabis' thread under pictures... THAT'S the ulitmate goal!

Heya pics as prominsed.
Updates are:
-I'm making headway in my ongoing battle with pests. Aphids and whiteflies and thrips, oh my! But I fogged 2x in the last week with permethrin (synthetic pyrethrin, NO ACTIVATORS!!! The activators are dangerous) from Home Depot... Raid makes a product that just has the perm in it.
-Bear's MTF is breaking dirt as of this morning, and so is Hashberry.
-Just repotted a whole bunch of stuff that showed sex in the last few days, 2 Haze x, 2 Godbud x Dreamweaver, 1 Papaya, um, I think that's it.
Here's pics:
1) Yeag, if your ornery ass is still hanging around here, this one's for you, big guy!!!! It's a healthy Yeag's MTF about 3 weeks old and happy as a clam.
2) Big box o' males. Wow. BAd pic!
3) Bunch of plants getting sexed
4) Bunch of week- and a half-old sprouts just veggin' under tube flouros
5) Bunch of mangled little moms sitting under my MH250 along with a BOG bluemoonrocks in the place of honor!

Anyway the color on those pics is kind of crappy and I noticed makes the plants look kind of sickly, but I swear it's the light!!! :D They are actually in good shape considering the abuse they take.
Here's 2 more pics:
1) A bowl of trim drying out for goo-hash, which I'm going to make this weekend. It's gross stuff really but gets you silly.
2) This mornings harvest sitting decoratively in the kitchen. Smells better than flowers! Actually part of it is missing, which is the buds I pollenated with a BOG unknown. That bit is upside down over a glass jar to catch any precious seeds.. the ones that have fallen so far are ripe but surpisingly petite. Smallest I've ever seen actually.
3) Happy Thanksgiving to all!!! Here's the Tess waiting for someone to drop a bit of turkey. I think she has the munchies.

Anyway I forgot to add that the next batch of seeds I plan to start is going to be Pure Power Plant and White Widow.
Time to get going on the classics, and I've decided to do a run of PPP seeds in time for spring planting. Did you know it's a true-breeding strain? That makes me so happy!

Damn it, it's December first already and last night I couldn't get to sleep because it's too HOT in my house!
WTF!!!???
The BF and I already insulated our attic windows with that plastic draft-proofing, total pain, and I'm not taking it down!
MEanwhile I've got my grow set up in 'winter style'... no a/c, the 1000HPS is humming away, and there's virtually no way to quickly remove all the heat from the room short of FORCING it DOWN the stairs with like 4 fans!
So needless to say I was a bit peeved this morning when I got up, not rested a bit, and found the temps in the grow at a whopping 97 degrees F. Seriously.
I think this has got to be the first time ever that I WISH it would get below freezing at night, as much as scraping ice off the car chaps my ass.
Well enough bitching. Everyone is growing fine so I guess there's nothing to worry about except for my -shall we say- 'difficult' friend who drank too much ginger brandy last night ( he claims he has the sniffles) and forgot not only where he left his car, but also how to get to his new apartment. Honest, I love the kid, but I'm too old to be dealing with this crap.
This is going to be a LOOOOOONG day.

Hey all.
Log update...
Well, the late thunderstorms came through as promised and we are now fully into winter, much to my (and the plants') delight. Temps are back in the 70s and 80s daytime and upper 60s nighttime.
My Bear's MTF and Hashberry are working on their 2nd set of adult leaves.
The papaya, for those of you who remember that this was originally supposed to be a log of the papaya's progress, is doing fine and I've got a bunch of sexed plants, and thinking of making an F2 since the male is so vigorous.
I popped 10 each of Pure Power Plant and White Widow... time to get rolling on a couple commercial strains to see what I can do with them! Plus I will be making a seed crop from the PPP as it is a very stable and true-breeding strain, and I hope to grow it outdoors in spring (it's mostly sativa but flowers FAST).
Clones from my smashberry mom are in dirt as of this weekend. That's the second batch of clones from my new ez cloner; I just did like 10 cuttings and stuck them in the closet and forgot about them for 2 weeks!
The funniest thing that happened is that my dad, who lives a ways away, called Saturday night to say he was coming out for a quick visit Sunday...
I spent the entire morning parent-proofing my house, stacked up 3 weeks' worth of dirty laundry blocking the attic door, put away the water pipes, and sprayed Febreze on everything in sight... and what does he do, goes almost STRAIGHT to the dining room closet and goes, "?huh? what's this?" me: "oh it's a cloner for making cuttings of herbs!" him: "that's not marihuana by any chance, is it? Not that I would know what that looks like..." me: of course not! It's herbs!"
OMG.
Let's see, here's this morning's pics.
The first is yesterday's harvest
Second is a BlueMoonRocks getting big
Third is how I train my little scruffy moms to give me cloneable side shoots... that's duct tape and a bungee cord!
Fourth is a bunch of recent transplants. That's how big they get in the 6-pax.
Fifth is the 6-pax on a styrofoam meat tray... that's BlueBear's MTF and Hashberry sprouts about 3 days from first breaking dirt.

Hey, Stinky!!
Thanks for the update. I'm sure all the viewers appreciate it too. Everything looks good. I was wondering about the Papayas myself. :) Aren't cool temps the greatest? :)
Bummer about the dad thing. Ha. How did he manage to get into the closet? It's kinda hard to parent/visitor - proof the place when there is so much going on, eh? :o A cloner for herbs, huh? haha. Nice. "Well, that's my a/c that's so loud...gotta get it fixed...errr..." ;)
So windsurfing, huH? Cooool. ;)
So I'm a little bummed out about my thread. From what I've seen, people tend to get more attentive closer to harvest, but I've already started to post harvest pics, (with weights & everything) and you are pretty much the only one who has posted any comments. Strange. I just wonder sometimes if I go through the whole detailed process in vain. Meh...it's still cool to have a thorough log, though. I just noticed some date discrepancies...but whatever. It just takes a long time to make such detailed posts with all those pics and such. Maybe I should go down to a bare bones log (fewer pics - just the basics). What d'ya think? OR I might break out my 'secret weapon avatar'...we'll see. hehe.
Hope you had a good weekend. I did. Nice and relaxing...not! haha

This weekend I had to hit a bong for demonstration purposes in front of this girl who came over to my apartment with one of my roommates friends. It was funny, the guy and girl came into my room and the guy is like haha, smells good in here and she was like what's that smell? And i was like pot. And she's like really? I've never smoked before, I don't do drugs, all I do is drink. So I felt it my moral obligation to try and convert her from alcohol to pot. Lol, she didn't wanna hit the bong, but she thought you hit it from the slide where the bowl goes. I just clouded out the room in one hit, and she was like wow, how do your lungs hold that much smoke. Gotta <3 teh noobs.

Mornin' f[r]oggy!
I like all the pics in your log. Why would you ever want to take them out?
I should have expected my dad to go snooping. He's a curious sort of guy and I've been doing a lot of renovations. He was probably just looking to seeif I had repainted the INSIDES of the closets too!
I even went to the hardware store and picked up some skeleton keys that fit the victorian locks, but the mechanism is stuck from a century of people painting right over the hardware! But he's a sweetheart and wouldn't hold it against me that I've turned to a life of crime, LOL! It's funny that I always flame the kids trying to hide a grow from their parents and here I am with the same problem... except that I own my own home and they aren't in danger!
I'm glad you had a nice weekend. Mine was actually fabulous... there's a sweet little Italian restaurant that just opened up on the other side of the hill and my neighbor and I finally went there for some nice Malbec and an eggplant terrine on Saturday evening. Holy shit were we in heaven.
Then Sunday night after my Pops took off, I headed over to visit a buddy who has had the blues ever since he broke things off with his [lazy and useless] girlfriend of like 15 years... and now he's got a beautiful place of his own, but I think it just hit him hard that he's the only one there and it's getting cold and dreary. So we had a little green and poked through his ridiculous collection of antique cookbooks and had a good laugh at all the absurd recipes for jello molds, mousses, aspics, and other questionably-textured foods. I'm so glad I was not a housewife during the 40s and 50s, that's all I can say!

Yeah, it's kind of cutely innocent and nice.

.Ha ha my neighbor is a big drinker- scorpion bowls at the crappy Chinese place, martinis elsewhere- I had him smoking for the first time in 15 year the other night, and his comment was, 'wow, I forgot how relaxing this is. I should give up drinking and smoke with you more often!' Love it.

So last night I was making my rounds looking for ball sax, buggies, etc. with my magnifying glass and had a good look at the 'breeder male' box... discovered that one of the papaya boys has a few trichs on him. Not like a female, but enough of them to really get me interested in the little guy for breeding, so I went ahead and pollinated a couple girls from my bagseed line with him.
The PPP broke dirt this morning. Still waiting on the WW.
I'ma-go read up on Subcool's experiences with Space Dude and maybe order some seeds from that line in hopes that the male resin-producing trait is more common in his stuff.

I am going to go back and read the last couple of pages of your thread because it seems like you have so much going on and perhaps I can learn a few tricks. My "Children of the Attic" are coming along, some have there third set of leaves and will have to get them out of the 4 packs like ASAP, will get some pics on your thread after I do all of that, just have so much to do right now, potting 7 in 3 gals, 8 in 2 gals, about 5 under experiment and 11 in the flower room and it is keeping me busy, not to mention that I have these buckets, air pumps, net pots and drills all around so I can do some hydro runs with these strains to see how they react.
Well, take care and will check back in.

Hey all...been a while! Lots going on in my life, not all sunshine and daisies at the moment, but looking up.
With the big breakup I've been getting up earlier and spending a lot of time in the garden before work. I cleaned and rearranged things a bit in the last couple days and really llike how the garden is growing into its space perfectly.
Here's some pics:
#1- Here's the Bear's MTF and HAshberry again. Lookin good. 100% survival on both.
#2- Here's a BOG unknown getting frosty. She's gained some purple coloration on her sugar leaves and it seems to be advancing towards the bud itself. Yummy!!! Pretty girl.
#3- My Aghani Dream STILL sitting there doing nothing. Trying to reveg her. I expect to see some new shoots maybe in the next week or 2. It has been 2 weeks since she went into 24 on again.
#4- This is just a cool random pic I took on my way to work of a bunch of steeplejacks removing the cupola from an old building in town.
#5- WOW pollen!

Wow Stinky, your BOG's look wonderful. Bear's and Hashberry look great too....keep up the awesome work! How do you seperate all those seedlings without damaging them when it's time to transplant? (Don't say very carefully because I know this takes serious skill.)
stinkyattic
12-08-2006, 03:56 PM
Easy, they are already in 6-pax. Those aren't propagation trays like you would use for impatiens and shit.
What I do is wait for them to get pretty rooty. Not quite rootbound, but just to the point where they are starting to show very slight N def from having used up ALL the existing nutes in the starter mix (~40% perlite, 50% composted manure and humus, and 10% worm poop).
Then I let them get pretty dry and poke the bottom of each cell in the 6-pack until the soil plug frees itself from the sides. They just slide right on out. I think there's a transplanting pic or 2 back earlier in the log.
stinkyattic

Found the transplant pics! They are on pg. 2 of this log. They actually came out halway decent and you can see the texture of the soil sort of.

OMG!!! This thread almost dropped off the page!!!
Let's try this again.. my browser keeps crashing... fucking Microsoft.. I need to get my trusty Mac back on its feet!
Anyway updates...
So I was lazt and planted the WW and PPP in 'used' dirt.. I'm suffering for it now; they are showing def symptoms, at only 2 nodes old, yikes. So this morning I did an emergency transplant of one pack and gave them a tiny bit of fish/kelp food... 1/2tsp in 2 cups.... or maybe 400mL with 5 mL food... why the fuck did the Americans decide to use a fucking ridiculous measuring system- or more like a ridiculous hodgepodge of measuring systems- insetad of metric? Here we are dividing everything by 12, or 16, or whatthefuckever.. I feel like I should be counting the knots in a piece of string and wearing a fucking corset still. Canncom should add to the mostly English rule and say all growers must post in metric units. Yeah. That would be awesome.
*END OF RANT*
Um so the BOG plants are only a few short days from harvest and starting to show the late N defs... IMO N def in the last week or 2 is actually a good thing because you WANT chlorophyll to break down and not mask the pure clear flavors of the aromatic hydrocarbons.
They have some seeds on them too.... I made a couple crosses to see what pops up.
Any of you who looked at the Subcools history of cannabis thread in pictures, my all time most favoritestest thead on canncom, I just discovered that he was the source for the genetic material that BOG used for BlueMoonRocks and LifeSaver... Well paint me purple and call me Shelley, it figures!!! Now I'm thinking when my Vortex beans come from cannaseur I KNOW what crosses I'll be fooling around with! :D Cool.
What else.... made a Papaya F2 with the slightly res male plus the female with the best internodal bud dev... she's a pretty one... left her untopped and her internodes are spaced at about 2 inches apart... a few short weeks into veg and bud development has already FILLED the internodal regions! Me like.
I got 2 very very very delicious red ripe tomatoes off my plant this morning and made a fabulous omlette... 2 eggs, skim milk, a dash of Cajun blackening spice. Then tomatoes, proscuitto, a handful of sharp Cheddar, and some black pepper... mmmmmmm. Wow the tomatoes were sweet. They love bloom ferts, lol! They are literally on the exact same feeding schedule as my girlies, molasses and all. BTW for any of you who like to grow veggies in the growroom, may I recommend a variety called 'Patio Tomato- Garden Red'...I t looks to be indeterminate... already bore a crop and is now bearing flowers again! Also the leaves are thick, I mean THICK, and dark dark green. It stands up to heat and drought well. And the fruit is the size of a billiards ball and dark red. GORGEOUS!!!

Happy holidays to you too!
Yeah, having this thread makes me feel like you guys are around too. It makes me all warm and fuzzy inside!
Lesseeee.... updates....
Um I started using a producct called Messenger last weekend and I'm not sure if I am just imagining things but there seems to be a bit of a flurry of growth... ??? ... didn't do an untreated control so I'm not sure, but at least it didn't hurt!
I'm not exactly thrilled with the White Rhinos that I ordered from seedboutique.
In fact they suck royal asscheeks.
On one hand, yeah, they are growing like crazygonuts, but on the other hand, I've already had to cull 2 that were so badly hermed as to be considered a fully equal male and female plant.
I mean, awful. Awful awful. Like a beautiful furry afro of pistils and a complete skirt of nutsax on EVERY bud site.
I will never grow this strain again unless I can find a breeder who didn't let his genetics get all fuckulated. Meh, why bother looking, there's so many better strains out there. Oh and of the ones that haven't been flowered yet, yup, one ended up in the 'everybody loves a freak' thread. I just don't trust those genes!
All my other girlies are just fine and not experimenting with life as a transgendered pot plant. :D
Aphids in the flower room still, wtf, just been hosing them off with a jet of water and neem. They are more interested in my hot peppers than the ladies though so I'm not that worried. Haven't seen any of the telltale leaf-drop on the girls.
I have to wait like one more week to bugbomb so the 'maters get pollinated. See! Pests DO have a purpose! There IS order in the universe after all!
Stopped off at our local farmers supply this morning for 200 pounds of cow manure and humus and a bag of perlite the size of one of those big 'body pillow' things. Guess what I'm going to be doing when I get home? Hint: It involves DIRT.

Hmm, I am amused by your description of your transgender Rhinos. Well, I put the "Children of the Attic" under the 400W last night so I will prob update tomorrow, I would do it to night, but I will be cutting clones and transplanting some other stuff that I got in the flower room tonight, I hope.
Oh, yeh, I almost forgot, I used that messenger for the first time about a month ago, and I noticed a real big increase in the foliage after the second day of use. One thing, what do you think about the directions? I mean, you can only use a open package with in, what, 24 hours and a mixed batch for only a few hours I think? Well I just refrigerated my package to try to use later, but I am a little leary on trying, what do you think. The stuff is kind of spendy as well. Your the first person that I have herd of using it besides my self.

Hey... wondering where you'd vanished to!
Got the PPP from seedboutique. I've actually gotten most of my seeds there... plus a bunch from Rushman and a couple from Sacred in Toronto and a crapload from bags, friends, ya know... ordered on the 5th from cannaseur.... still waiting for shipping conf even though yeah my plastic was already charged... with seedboutique they would have been here by now. Grr.

Man stinky i envy your seed collection. Cause now I don't trust half of mine lol. That first round of White Rhinos from seedboutique looked like hell and they are where that 2-headed mutant I had came from. So lets just say I'm less than thrilled about them for this next time around now....I still have some of their AK-48 which i've heard good things about and they sent me some "mystery mix #1" too of which 8 seeds look un-crushed. I'm considering PPP because I want a mostly sativa that is still fast flowering. I really really really really really wanted that c-99 from the FMX line of feminized seeds, but they apparently quit offering that one right as I was about to order. Like it was seriously there 2 days before I decided I was going to place the order  Is that PPP you got nirvana standard also? Let me know how that turns out, cause now I'm not even sure I wanna start these rhinos.......damnit.
Haha, i do however have a badass pepper seed collection :D
19 unique varieties of hot pepper & 3 varieties of alpine strawberries (i still gotta figure out this "cold stratification" thing and I'm gonna start some)
Anyway, glad to see you back on your feet and back in the swing of things so quickly after all the shit you've been dealing with. It happens to the best of us girl, but not many take it in stride like you did. *big ass bear hug*
edit: PS, would you be so kind as to grace us with your presence in the c hat room some time? i'd love to speak with you in somewhat real time ;p

Updates!
I started my girlies on some new products.
Cannazyme... enzymatically breaks down dead root matter even in 'inhabited' pots
Got it from my new fave grow shop in Putney VT... the grow guy is the coolest dude. He has hydro flood and drain display tables with everything from cactus to garlic to every type of houseplant imaginable coexisting happily, and a propagation display as well. Very VERY big props to him for such a nice shop.
And his advice is, it's great stuff, monitor for 48 hours for N burn as bound nutes are released. But looking good so far.
Soil Syrup... humic acid supplement from some European fert manufacturer. I totally need it too for my mommies in their little tiny pots!
Um... Moistened some of a cross I made between the Afghani that has been kicking around my grow almost since the beginning and a male from the BOG mix I got free from Sacred Seeds. They popped and are already out of the dirt.
Started a bunch of herbs and veggies for my neighbor for Christmas... he's getting his Butler's pantry turned into a growroom, haha!!!
Got my new beans! Jillybean, Vortex, and Jacks Suprise! WOOT!!!! Can't wait until I have a little space for them.

So, your neighbor is setting up a regular growroom indoors, right? Nothing sweet like yours. ;)
Looking forward to seeing those new beans grow. Space comes at a premium up in these pieces, huh? Move over, little weed plant... :weedpoke:

The moms need more room... so they are getting cannazyme-d.
My normal houseplants, same thing. I have a Christmas cactus that has been in the same pot for almost 10 years and is a full 3 feet in diameter!!! It's a monster and I can't repot the thing because of the delicate branches.
The grow room needs more room... One for veg, One for flower, One for moms and propagation, one [dungeon bahahahaha] for [evil horny] males.
The neighbor is all addicted to fresh basil and won't take any crappy supermarket pesto for an answer!

Hey Missy, I have a question, do you think that the "Children of the Attic" would do alright flowering in 2gallon and 1 quart pots?? I may be pushing for room, and may need to skimp on the pot size, so I am wondering if you have ran them under 3 gal pots?? They will have a 1 month veg when all is said and done.
Take care.

12-20-2006, 04:12 PM
BlueBear,
1 month veg to 2 gallon pots and they will do fine. I have never noticed anything from that line really finishing up rootbound in 3 gallon pots. And rootbound at harvest time is actually NOT a bad thing.
BlueBear
12-20-2006, 06:21 PM
Thanks for the input. I don't think that anything is wrong with plants being root bound at the end of flower, except when it is just rediculously root bound and stunts the harvest, but by now I should know better.
I am running about 5 plants in some coco coir right now will post them on the next "Children" update, unless I start a coco experiment thread. I really think that you would like the coco, it has some neet properties that make for a really nice organic medium with robust growth potential that can match hydro and people are reusing it up to 5 times and more with no problems. Also, rather than having to hall baggs of dirt around from the store, one little brick about the size of a black board eraser can expand to the size of a 3 gal pot.

#3= Just a bunch of different grades of Shrek, L to R, stemmy schwag, nice bright green brick, commercial Canadian outdoor [we call them Nooks around here. This batch smelled like pine and tasted like some unidentifiable citrus], some of my home-bred line, and finally a Haze X to DIE for.

It was 4' tall when i dug it up from his backyard. I built a cabinet just for it. Hey Stinky, I had a discovery over the last two days regarding that strain from the Mountain. After about 40 days flower with 2 1/2 weeks veg under the micro, she is showing 80% milky, 20% amber, so basically what I am saying is, at least from clone this strain is looking like a 40-45 day ready to role strain. I went back and had the last harvest that was cut about 10 days ago put under the micro scope and being cut at 50 days it was a little over done with about 80% amber. I don't know how it will work out from seed, but I thought I would give you a heads up. Even with less than 3 weeks veg I think I will get at least a OZ off of each one.
Maybe you can come up with your own top 44, call it the Stinky top 40 count down.

Hey Missy, I am thinking about topping those beans and letting them veg for about 5 weeks, how do they respond? I want to take some clones and want to top to promote some internodle growth for cloning or just keep clones from the topping, but I don't want to stunt their potential so if you think that they respond better untopped I will only top half.
Thanks for any answers on the question.
