Where is the best place to find a good ph meter? Is ordering one online the best option? If so, what brand isn't a piece of shit?
Mines a cheap one but it seems ok...it was like $13.00 shipped on eBay. I'm pretty new at this so I dont have any idea if its a good one or not. It measures pH as well as moisture and light intensity. Here's a link to a similar auction:

Thanks. I guess that's what I'm going to have to do. Some good friends of mine are in a band called Doco.

There's a little more upscale pH meter called the 'checker' made by Hanna.
More appropriate to testing water.
It's still really cheap, you can buy one from edmund scientific. They have a good website and fast delivery.

Doco i have that exact same meter ,The moisture and ph settings on it are totally inaccurate.
The only thing thats any good is the light setting on it if youre useing CFL,s
I found the best way to check ph is with liquid test kits,But if you want a meter get a digital one
Bummer....guess I'll be checking into a test kit then. Those digital meters can get a little steep for me. I'm sure they are far more accurate but sheesh, I've already spent enough on grow gear....I coulda bought a couple z's by now!

Oh yeah, duh, forgot about the liquid! $12 for a lifetime supply!
Do you have one of the Hanna Checker's Stinky? It looks good...I wonder how it works in soil or maybe you have to make a soup out of a soil sample?
