Teacher tosses 11-yr old from window...

I came across a rather strange story of events.

Chinese history teacher Li Hengyi is accused of killing a student, Ms. Zhang Yaoyi, as stunned classmates watched in shocked amazement. The young victim was an 11-year-old female student at the No. 12 Middle School in the Chinese city of Yongzhou.

Witnesses stated that, "He knocked her head against the desks back and forth and stomped on her after she fell (and) then produced a steel bar to beat her."



Instructor Li has been known in the past to beat students for various offenses, so the beating came as no surprise to the young lady's fellow classmates. Witnesses to the tragic affair reported that after kicking and punching the young girl unconscious, Li stated his intention to take the young girl to the school infirmary. Inexplicably, after lifting her limp and motionless body from the floor, Li turned to the 4th floor classroom window and tossed her body to the unforgiving pavement below.



"The whole class ran out of the room by the back door (and) many girls were crying. Then we saw teacher Li walk out."



As a feisty young 11 year old, Zhang Yaoyi was known to have argued with Li in the past but no motive for the vicious assault has been forwarded at this time.

If he beats his students on a regular basis what the hell is he doing teaching?? I know if I had a kid and the teacher beat my kid I would be on the 6 o'clock news. Does China alow students to be beat??? And if not why was he teaching after he beat the first kid??

Yeah it's china, they're the people who break the bones in there feet for looks. Not trying to seem ethnocentric, this may be normal to them (except for the unconcious part and the killing...).

China is a communist country and still for the most part a 3rd world country.

They'll probably give the teacher the death penalty.

I dont blame the whole country I blame the school system. This just happend in my state yesterday.

ROWAN CO., N.C. -- A Rowan County man faces charges after he threw his 3-year-old son out a car window, authorities said.

Deputies charged Jason Carpenter, 29, with two misdemeanor counts of assault on a child under 12 and one felony count of assault with a deadly weapon on a government official after the incident Tuesday on Faith Road near Rockwell.

According to investigators, Carpenter and his wife are estranged and he took the toddler from the child's grandparents' house without permission. They called 911.

When deputies tried to stop the car Carpenter was driving, they say he threw the boy out and tried to get away. Witnesses said they had slam on their brakes and swerve to miss the child; one man said it scared him to death.

A short distance down the road Carpenter crashed into a deputy's patrol car and was arrested. Fortunately, no one was hurt.

Carpenter is in the Rowan County Detention Center on $10,000 bond.

I think his bond should be higher and all his charges a felony I mean he threw his kid out the widow of his car!!

i really doubt beating students to death is common practice in china, but hitting them might be ok. it was normal for teachers to do that in the us not too long ago. im not saying its right though.

The had hitting in the parochaial schools when I was growing up (some probably still do), and most of the public schools allowed hitting in the 30's, 40's, and 50's.

I went to public school and when I was in 1st grade back on 1969, my teacher called my mom up to the school to watch as I got paddled.
That was Long Island New York in the end of the 60's and they continued to hit kids in my school for a couple of more years although I ran away when they were gonna hit me again.

Birdy I started school in '72 in Dublin and we were regularly disaplined with a wooden ruler. Normally across the knuckles by the teacher in class or for a more serious offence you were sent to the principle (head nun) for the cane. I can't imagine anyone treating my kids this way...I'd havta be dug outta them...

Not quite sure when that all stopped, I don't remember anything like it in secondary school (1980's)

That kind oif brutality is a common thing over there, and brytal capital punishment still gets practiced over there by public hangings, and shooting squads, for everyone to see, so this kind of brutal behaviour, is nothing new to them.

Even when I went to elementary, they still practiced punishment with a leather strap. They usually only hit you on your hands, never like this though. That was in the 90's as well, but a few years later, they stopped it.

Ok, first of all, most of you know nothing about China. That's not a criticism of you though, it's a criticism of our media which seizes on any sensationalistic story it can and then tells half the truth to make it even more so. They've created an image of China in the minds of most Americans which is entirely untrue. I know this because, although I am a white American, I lived in China, speak Chinese, have a degree in East Asian Studies (focusing on China), and my wife was born and raised in China.

Just think about how bad America would look to people in other countries if the only stories they heard about were things like the Rodney King beating, the redneck's who tied up the gay guy and beat him to death in Wyoming, and the rascists who dragged the black guy behind the car in Texas. And speaking of Texas, I'm sure any story about our imbecilic President doesn't do too much for the image of America.

Anyhow, back to the story. Yes, teachers in China can still hit students. Teachers in China are considerabley more respected than they are here, however, and education is highly valued so kids don't act out that much. Also, the most that they could legally do is give a kid a smack across the knuckles, or at worst, a paddling. Like Birdgirl, I too remember when this was still common prcatice in schools here in the U.S. so it doesn't seem all that outrageous to me. In any case teachers in China aren't beating the shit out of kids on a regular basis.

Like Billionfold, I too doubt the validity of this story. Ogrish.com isn't exactly the bastion of journalistic excellence. If it is true, the teacher will get what is coming to him. Most likely in the form of a bullet in the back of the head. Yes, this is something you've heard about China that is true. They don't fuck around with things like murder, rape, or child molestation. Incidentally, they have an incredibly low rate of violent crime. Whether you agree with the death penalty or not it certainly seems to be working over there.

Oh yeah, Yes Nochowder, there is weed in China. Although it's not too common. Like most Asian countries, they tend to go straight to heroin or meth and not mess around with our beloved and harmless herb. Mostly you'll find hash which is pretty much only smoked by the people of far western China right on the border of Afghanistan (not a big surprise). It's ok but not the best. Sure as shit makes Chinese opera more tolerable though ;)

Everybody needs to stop bashing the Chinese! That kind of brutality is NOT accepted over there, despite what people on these forums are saying. He'll be getting a pretty bad (and possibly painful) punishment for this, so don't worry about that. Fengzi said everything I wanted to though.. :p

But anyway... WTF!? I can't stand teachers who do stupid shit like this. I remember once when I was in 4th grade, my history teacher beat the SHIT out of a kid in my class.. it's a shame the world we live in.
