Do you like long, short, medium, spikey, shaggy, messy, blonde, black red, green, bald, think, thin, etc?

p.s. Should I get a haircut and/or shave? I have some sort of before and after pics, but they are really far apart time-wise.. the first one is my graduation (I'm the back left) from high school in May of '05. the other one is just a few days old. Thanks for the input :rasta:

Well I do like it longer, and the bangs are a bit irritating cause i always have to flip my hair out of my eyes. But what about letting it just keep getting longer til the bangs are longer and can go behind my ears or something?

grow it long and eventually you'll be able to part it. ive been growing mine since 8th grade and im a senior now. its about at the middle of my back. just getting a jumpstart on some long ass dreds for college i suppose.

I prefer short or medium, well-groomed, clean hair. I'm firmly convinced it's the best look for most guys, despite the fact that longer, shaggier and unkempt is more fashionable. The longer, shaggier look is definitely not necessarily a stronger draw for the girls and women I know. The guys from ZZ Top might have been unique and different, but they weren't sexy. And, since we're on the subject of hair, neither are mullets. Look at the men who are considered the most handome in the film industry. Those guys keep their hair clean, reasonably short, and they don't wear mullets.

I dissagree, those men that are considdering handsome in the movie business, take rolls with crazy hair, like Brad Pitt for example. He has had a variety or hair, for different roles. Shaggy and messy for some movies, and long a clean and well groomed for others. Then again he has also been crew cut and spikey too.

I wanna be an actor, lol.

I like it the way it is now...but I think I would maybe use some kind of product in it to give it some texture. Right now it looks shaggy, crispy and a little frizzy (may just be the pic). Maybe throw in some pommade? I like either shaggy hair, or buzz cut/ceasar style...

Oh no it's not the picture, my hair is out of control right now, which is why i made this thread to help me see what people like and see what people think to curve my decisions on what to do with it.

im in the process of letting my hair lock up. i've been growing it almost 2 years now and i back-combed it last week. but in my experience, chicks like long hair. i dont think there has been a day go by that at least one chick says something about my hair or just touches it. i walk around downtown and all the drunk chicks pet me. it's pretty fucking awesome

I'll play with a mans long hair and sometimes even admire it...but when it comes to getting down and dirty, I like a man with slightly shaggy/short hair...I can't seem to date guys with super long hair. I know this guitarist who had really long straight hair, and when I first met him, I thought he was a nice guy. The next time we hooked up he had a modern short/shaggy look and I thought he was hot....

From my experiences with chicks, most girls go for short & clean or medium and well kept.

Long hair is VERY difficult of a look for most men to pull off for one main reason: Most men start to lose their hairline by their late teens or early 20s. Receded temples and a thinning head of hair make long-hair not a good option.

My hair is abnormally thick, I mean really thick! I have had doctors tell me that I will never go bald.

So would that help me make length of around the shoulders possible?

i hate mullets. i think mohawks are nice but i doubt thats the look youre going for. i dont like super long hair on guys but some girls do. its all about what makes you feel good on the inside.

I have dreads but its just how my hair grows. I have super curly hair (due to being black) but when it gets nappy it goes into dreads rather then thoes huge clumps. I think it actually detracts girls though :S

Hey man, dont let ANYONE tell you you're never go bald man. John Travolta (once had incredible hair) wears a piece... Not to get off-subject but hairloss is caused by a genetic predisposition of your hair follicle cells to atrophy in the presents of androgens (male hormones). This genetic wild card can manifest itself at any point regardless on how thick one's hair is or what one's 'family' history is or isnt. I personally know guys who had super-thick hair in HS to now have a balding head whereas some guys who had thin hair in HS still have all their hair!!! The worse age range for Androgenetic Alopecia (also known as AGA) to develop is between 20 - 35 yrs of age.

Anyhow, as another guy with abnormally thick hair I would suggest if you do grow it long make sure you have a professional hair stylist cut & style it for you... Even if you want the 'shaggy' look, still have it 'shaped' if you know what I mean... I had long hair in HS and even though it looked 'shaggy' I always had it 'thinned out' 1x a month to keep it from getting wild...

But yeah man, go for it! I'm growing my hair long again too... Unlike you though I have a lot further to go!

Seriously. Here is all the info you need. That hair is urgently needed.

This way, since you don't like him, you can "get him" and do a great thing all at once. My hair is to my butt and once I get my husband to stop crying, I'm gonna whack off a foot or so and donate it.

OK..ON SUBJECT. I love a man with nice hair. No long stringy hair for me please. No dreds either. I've heard that things live in those.
My husband has a gorgeous head of hair and his dads hair is still nice too!

I was wondering, when people go bald does the hair just stop growing or does it actually fall out? Cus if it doesn't fall out i'll just never cut that little circle on the top of my head :)

My hair has taken on a life of its own. It's probably been a year and a few months since I last went under the scissor, and now the tip of it is around my upper back.

Some people hate it, some love it -- personally I couldn't care less, but still, it's not hated by ALL. I do have girls comment on it, so it can't be that bad. Some have said it suites me better than a shorter cut, so go figure.

I have thought about cutting it, but only during the summer when it was just so hot out, and it would constantly be in my way. And now that it's getting longer I have to tie it out of my face for soccer training/games, but that's almost over. Then any thoughts I have of cutting it will vanish. I just don't think I could part with my hippy 'do. I think it completes the 'PEACE & LOVE' that I'm about. =)

Do whatchu gonna do. I'd prolly say trim it once it starts to really cover your eyes. So far, I have been fortunate enough to have my locks sorta sweep to the side, so it's out of my eyes. Still, if you don't it'll get in the way. Unless you part it, but I dunno that looks weird on me. But this is YOU.

Good luck long-haired-warrior. ~

Heh, I haven't gotten a haircut since 1989, so my hair is pretty long and has been for most of my life (except for a stint in the Army, and even then I figured out ways to grow it longer than was allowed). What's funny is, I'm 42, and my younger friends in their 30s are mostly going bald, whereas my hair is still full, not receding at all. I hadn't seen some of those friends in a few years, then we met for Bonnaroo earlier this year and I was a little taken aback by how much balder everyone (except me) had gotten.

If you can find a barber that only charges $10 and can do a good job then I say go for it... Personally, when I have short hair like now I wont spend more then $5 - $8 bucks for a cut... I mean, it doesnt take too much skill to buzz hair and fade it (hell, I can do it myself, it just takes forever). However, when I had long hair I would go to a regular barber monthly to 'thin' it and a high end salon 3x yearly to really just keep it shaped and cut right...

LoL

Doesnt work that way man :)

Your hair is goes through 2 basic cycles: Anagen (growing phase) and telogen (resting phase). Basically, your hair grows for a predetermined time as dictated by your genetics (between 2 - 6 yrs). It then enters into telogen where the hair is dislodged from the hair follicle and 'sheds'. After resting for 3 - 4 months it will start to produce a new anagen hair.

With AGA, anagen cycles become shorter, telogen phases longer, and the hair itself grows thinner and thinner until it no longer grows. As the hair follicle cell is damaged from androgens scar tissue forms around the hair follicle until eventually the hair follicle can no longer produce hair.

When that happens you go bald in that area.

Clean is the most important.
But don't spend all day primping it... I don't like a man who has more hair products than I , lol
And when you start to go bald, cut it shorter and shorter... I have to say I think an older guy who rocks the shaved head look can be TOO sexy.

birdgirl73

Clean and either medium-length or shorter, all the way up to and including baldness/shaved, which I agree can be sexy. I think shorter hair flatters the masculine facial/neck bone and muscular structure to a greater degree than longer hair does. Guys have stronger jawlines and different-structured faces than girls do. That's why it's always nice for those areas not to be obscured by hair--so we ladies can appreciate your masculine differences in all their glory.

Although noone asked me.

Since i got out of the army i've been growing my hair. I mostly keep it neatly braided and people say they like it. Who knows though. I like my hair the way it is, when i pull down it covers my eyes, but i'm thinking about getting a trim up. Might as well keep it long until i get out of business school.

A guy could have the coolest hair in the world, and he could still be a dick.

If you're the sort of person who's worrying about their hair, then you're gonna attract the wrong type of girl.

Just be yourself, have your hair the way you're happy with it.

I used to have long hair, like down to half way down my back, then i cut it to the top of my back, and these days, it's all gone, i got it shaved nice and short.

And you know the reason why i shaved it? The ONLY reason?

Every time i bent down to look at my dope plants, my har would get in my eyes.

Funny... but it's the truth... i cut my beautiful hair for my weed plants.

I guess i just love weed.

I'm exactly the same way, except no soccer and I only tie it back sometimes. The only people who tell me to cut it, are guys who don't listen to rock. One of my friends loves messing with my hair, she says it drives her crazy when she can't. ;)
