I'm pretty self-conscious about my health, and I've heard all this talk about how smoking through a vaporizer takes away most of the toxins in the pot. I'm considering buying a vaporizer from ebay, and I was just wondering how true this is about it being better for your health. I was also curious about the high (better or worse?) and also if this process tends to be more wasteful or less wasteful with your dope.

My grandma calls it dope:thumbsup:

Vaporizing is a much healthier way to ingest cannabis, because instead of burning the dried botanical (fancy), it instead passes heat over it, releasing the cannabinoids without combustion, which means harmful tar and carcinogens are left in the dried plant matter. Now, there's a debate over how effective it is. My personal experience says that any good vaporizer (over $150) will work. Personally, I do believe this is a more effective way because you waste no plant matter; all of it is extracted. Now, NORM/MAPS released a study that proves me wrong, but I'm going off of experience rather than studies.

It gives a more heady high. This may or may not be from other cannabinoids being left behind in the plant matter. I think some things can't be explained by your "science".

Good luck, and happy vaping!

You want to buy a quality vape. Vaporizing is more efficient and easier on your lungs.

Vape is the way to go. It gives you a nice clear high. I bought my vapolution for 125 and its a great one. Ive had it for a couple years and am currently trying to save for a volcano, although that money usually goes for weed so its gunna take a while

LOL, me and the guys I smoke with usually call it dope too:p "Hey man, let's go smoke some dope". Makes it sound so forbidden.

Listen to Bongzoola "You want to buy a quality vape". Those $50 BC Vaporizer piece of shits they sell on E-Bay are a waste of money. I got one and threw it in the trash after a week or so. Spend the extra $100 and get something like a Vapor Brothers or Vapor Warez.

You definately want to get a vaporizer! I have toked for 40 years(!) and had quite a cough. In two weeks after getting my Vapor Brother's, my cough was gone! The amount of cannabis that I use is less- roughly about half a joint's worth will get me as high as smoking a joint does. I have found that it is a great tool for judging which plant to clone- you can vape "right off the plant" bud- I just take a taste fairly early in flowering and clone the best ones. Another GREAT thing about vaping is that it doesn't smell like smoking pot! There is virtually no smell and what smell there is, doesn't smell like pot! The left-over "duff" still has some kick left in it. Some folks smoke it, but I think that tastes really bad. I prefer to make those "traditional" pot brownies- I also add hemp seed from the health food store to them. Since you are cautious with your health, you may like to know that hemp is almost a perfect food. Do a little research on it, try this for a start- http://ratical.org/renewables/hempseed1.html or run a search on-- hemp "Lynn Osburn" -- Hemp seed brownies are great! As you were cautioned about the "piece of trash" vaporizers, I won't go into that. I got my little Vapor Brother's GNES Hands-free at discountworldonline.com for $139 + $15 S&H. It is the best money I ever spent! Volcanos may be better (at $539, they better be!), but the VB does quite well IMHO. I'm vaping a little green G-13xButterscotch Hawaiian right now and it is delicious! :D The high is a little different than smoking. Not as physically "heavy", but you are most definitely stoned. I think it is because you are not getting the toxins from the act of combustion. If you use a computer or are busy tripping around the house, another really great thing about vaping is that it waits for you! The cannabis is just sitting there waiting for the hot air to vaporize the THC and that only happens when you inhale a hit. With a whip type vaporizer you can take a hit, walk away for 10 minutes and take another hit when you get back! NO WASTED POT! I'm an old die-hard hippie (40 years of toking) and I vape the heck out of my weed. I keep toking until the vapor tastes kind of like slightly burnt microwaved popcorn. What's left over has a nice toasty/almost chocolatey smell that really goes well in brownies. (guess what Granny Storm Crow is making next Friday? It makes a NICE weekend treat) Really, vaporizers are necessary for everyone who uses pot. It's discrete, saves you pot, makes your pot recycleable and is far healthier than smoking! What's not to love???

I had been considering vaporizing for a while, hesitant due to the cost and different types and quality. A local shop, Charlie Browns (http://www.charliebrownsstore.com/), just start carying the Volcano system (www.storz-bickel.com), which I had read about and thought sounded like might justify the cost. It was a little pricey for this type of purchase, even higher than online. But, I was able to pick it up locally, not having to wait for delivery or pay extra costs.

Mine was $600, and even I had a tough time accepting that price tag. But, I always say if I'm going to do something, I'm going to do it right. Well, this turned out to be well worth the price. It helped to get the 10% coupon with this purchase. Although, I'm not sure if I'll be able to make much of it for quite a while after this purchase. It's convenient, less disturbing to those around (burnt herb), and helps pay for itself through the weed that you save.

It takes only a few minutes to figure out how to assemble (it's pretty much together) and grind up (comes with own grinder) some herb and get it producing vapors. The first thing you notice is what I would liken, only partially, like the first time I tried a water pipe, noticing the differnce with the water filtering. This was about 1000 times better than that difference. No harsh smoke, heat, or the choking that sometimes comes with a water pipe hit.

You need to remind yourself that you don't have to smoke the entire bag of vapors right away. With a pipe, you pass around, or force yourself to smoke it, perhaps more quickly than you would like. With this, you can sit back and sample some whenever you like. The manufacturer said something like hours, but I'm not sure about that; maybe an hour or so, but I'm still getting used to it.

It really helps cut down on the odors in the room. I've been able to use it around people that would get disturbed but the burning smell with other methods, but not mind this.

It also allows you to stretch out the herb for a lot longer, saving you money. Sure it'll take me a while to make up the cost of this thing, but given the lung savings and other conveniences, it's at least good to know that it'll eventually pay for itself.

The only thing I haven't quite figured out yet, is the optimum temperature settings. I've tried 5-6, which seems to work ok. If anyone has one of these, do you have any suggestions on temperature settings?

Lil Josh, be sure to clean that light bulb REALLY good now. You don't want to be smoking whatever they coat the inside of the bulbs with! I doubt it would taste very good, anyway. I've recently read (forgot where-stoned) that the lightbulb vaping is not in the same class with using a vaporizer (aside from the real "piece of junk" types). It is supposed to be a lot harsher, since temperature control is more touchy. You might want to run a search on light bulb vapes to get more info.
