since I can't seem to buy the stuff, I guess I have to start growing it. I am reading around a bunch of threads right now...but can I ask a few quick questions?
Where do I buy the seeds? (I live in Canada, would prefer to buy from Canadian - simply to avoid any customs headaches)
What do I absolutely NEED? A friend of mine works at a Grow place - where she grows cacti and things of that nature - NOT the type of friend I could go to with this issue, but I could go to her for some basic supplies.
How long will it take (yes, I am impatient)
Thanks in advance...

well growing herb is a very long process takes up to 6 months of proper care and undertaking before the final smoke is ready think about that and read the FAQ before trying you will waste your time.
you need a fan, lights (hps or CLF) , grow medium, reflective material, pots, exhaust fan, timer, and most important a place to grow it, it can be a box or your closet the more space the more light needed the more light the more fans it can get complicated or easy depending on your budget.

yeah he hit it pretty much on the head. I would recomend reading the FAQ until you are falling asleep at the pc, you are going to see a lot of duplicate information but thats good cuz it burns that shit in your brain. Most of all you need to be patient as invision said. Growing can be the most rewarding hobby you will ever have but it can also be the most frustrating. Ill tell you I am on my first grow and I have had to put myself in check once in a while cuz I just get too damned excited but that first time you open the door to your grow and the light comes screaming out at you along with that wonderful stickyicky smell you will never be able to stop. Good luck and keep posting progress reports/pics if possible!!!

Get a dual spectrum 400W bulb and fixture and grow in soil. Thats easy and enough light for a good yeild.

Thank you very much, Cyclonite. I will be discussing these options with my friend today and we will decide if it's something we would like to try.

you can grow and harvest a plant in just over two months actually
well yes you can if using clones but from seed is 3-4 months depending on veg then one month to cure no matter how you want to do it 3-4 months is the fastest you can grow and cure

I think clones are small plants, or pieces of plants...I think. I don't know anyone who grows, so I would be SOL in that dept. I wish it was legal to just buy the shite online! I buy everything else online...lmao

well.
I guess when u r using clones, u r usually know what sex plant is. and we all know, that in this situation chicks rule! LMAo
when I started from seedling my first time, it turned out, that 5 out of 6 were females. last time I started from seedlings, 2 out of 5 were females... so theres slight chance, that (when u start from seedlings) u gonna waste over 2 moths to realize that all plants u have are males...

I recommend CFLs for a first time grower they are cheap and fit
in standard light fixtures, but you will need multiple bulbs to grow.

clones are the exact replica of the mother plant once they are rooted and ready you can flower them immediately taking off atleast a good month or two worth of veg and considering they are always female plants and stay short you can cram in more plants in the same space

Hey, thanks. Can a person buy a clone, or is that illegal (like everything else...lol)?

I sell clones to my friends. They suck at life and usually kill them after a week.

that would be my problem...which is why I am going about this slowly. My ex is coming over tomorrow to check out my indoor storage room to see how much room he can make and he will build me a box (he builds car stereo systems in his spare time from being a firefighter...I think I got the best of both worlds in this friend! lol) I am going to read through the instructions here tomorrow with a notepad and take notes so I know exactly what I need to get before I even think of planting anything. And thanks to all the kind experienced growers here, I will post pics of the entrie process beginning to end in hopes of nipping any issues in the Bud...ya liked that, didn'tcha?

Have you made any thoughts towards the lights you are going to use?
After you get the dimensions of your grow space make sure to get
enough lighting to supply at least 1000 lumens a square foot or more.
If you can up to 3000 lumens per square foot that would be great.

... so theres slight chance, that (when u start from seedlings) u gonna waste over 2 moths to realize that all plants u have are males...
That's why you just start with 15-20 seedlings, grow them about 2 feet tall each, clone them, sex them and then you're guaranteed at least a few femmes...you only need a room the size of your master bed room. Thats not too hard is it? LOL. Just kidding.
No but seriously, clones are the BEST to start with, but since you are lacking that option, as was I, you start with seeds, and hope they are females. The less you start with, the more chance you have of wasting your time! Well, not really wasting your time. You definitely learn, but you have no bud at the end. Shedding a tear...
My ex is coming over tomorrow to check out my indoor storage room to see how much room he can make and he will build me a box....
I'm sorry, dear, but did you just say that you were going to tell your EX that you are growing cannabis? Your EX? I mean, I know you think he might be a cool guy and all, and hell, he very well may be, but the fact remains that he is your EX...and not only are you breaking the #1 rule of Indoor growing by telling ANYONE, the last person you want to tell is an EX. Just my opinion. Firefighters work with cops...nuff said.
In any case, I hope everything goes smoothly and I look forward to seeing your grow log. I will definitely keep up with it. I just started one too. You can see it by Searching JOURNAL OF A MADMAN in the Indoor growing section.
Be cool.
