If my room is cold, is it mandatory to have intake and outake fans. I thought that if they are sitting in the dark at a good temp that air ciurculation wouldn't be a problem. The room is not insulated from the outside and has concrete walls. I already purchased the fans, but I'm sceptical to start drilling the holes cause of the noise factor. The room is gonna get cold soon and I'm flowering right now. I will be using oil filled electric heater when the light is off. Also the room has an opening for outside air above the entrance door. So cold air comes into the room, but then I have a curtain one foot into the room from top to bottom sealing the light. So the room gets plenty cold inside. Do I really need to install the fans? I have never used fans before, but I'm gonna have house guests for a couple of weeks and will have to close the doors now. Thanks

I bought those in line fans from home depot. They are 4" round and I already connected them to the flexible tubing. But like I said, If I don't really need it, I don't want to do it. I figured that the fans will just bring more cold air in and raise heat expense and make noise. Thanks

There are basically three reasons to use fans: 1) cooling (which you don't seem to need); 2) recirculating fresh air so that the plants get as much co2 as they can absorb; and 3) odor control. You don't seem to need fans for cooling, and if odor control isn't an issue then I'd just try it without and see if the air, by itself, gets recirculated enough for your plants to breathe and not suffocate. If they die or look like crap, then you'll need to do something to give them fresh air. But they might be just fine as is.

4) Stimulating the plant with a fan may make it stronger than a plant sitting in a still room. 5) May inhibit mold growth

May not be a must have for you, or at least until harvest time

I agree with Jamstigator. If you don't need the fans for temperature or odor control, you should be alright. Definitely get a fan for air circulations within the grow room, tho. It will help move around stale air and strengthen your stalks. Carry on... :D
