He will be saddly missed by millions, what an inspiration he was on many old and new bands, most Dj's looked up to him as the Godfarther of the BBc. I started listening to him @ the age of 13 looking for new tunes, i was hooked in mins to his shows, ive never known of a dj with such a mass selection of taste in music.
Bless him and his family.
R.I.P.
John Peel

Good shout, Dog - you beat me to it.
Yes, I must confess that I wasn't an avid listener, but then, that was the beauty of his show - you could pick it up, and put it down, whenever you needed to.
He was a pioneer of many many bands that would have otherwise never made it onto a national radio station. And he had the ability to make you feel as if you were chatting to an old mate down the pub - he was funny, intelligent, and had an anecdote for almost any situation. He didn't shy away from playing stuff that was a bit wierd, and he didn't pander to the format of most other radio shows ie, he played stuff that deserved to be played, rather than stuff that the media mougols wanted played.
It is a great loss to the independant performer, and musical awareness in general.
The radiowaves is a poorer place without him.
RIP John Peel.

wow... remembering a DJ... I felt betrayed when Carson Daly left KROQ in LA to go to New York LoL
can't say that I've ever heard of this John Peel though. Most respect anyways.
