Hey all.
I've noticed the past couple times i've changed the nutrient solution, the top half of the roots sticking out from under the pot appears to have a lightish brown film on it. i don't know what root rot looks like or if this is it, or something to do with the nutes.
anyway a couple pics:

the roots are growing at an incredible rate and absorbing alot of water. about 1 gal. every 2 days.the plant doesn't look sick in any way.

i just wanna make sure this isn't the beginning of a serious problem.

anyway, if anyone's got an idea of what it is?

thanks in advance!

could try maintaining a higher level of solution
and increase the airstone size! ensure that the nutes get all the way around those lovely roots,,, does look nice,, well done on the home made bubbler!

there's nothing in the solution as far as slime or anything like that. the reservoir is clean. it's just on the roots.
i heard it's bad to use h202 with certain types of nutes. is that true?
i'm using voodoo juice right now (awesome product by the way). and i'm waiting for the pirahnna that i ordered. i heard alot of good things about it. also that it kills mold. but it's taking forever to arrive. i'll add a couple airstones for now.

i don't know if it's a film, but it's freakin' wierd. i was just checking her out and adding more solution cause the res was almost empty. anyway, when the roots are in the water, that stuff floats artound the roots. when i lift it out of the water, it sticks back to the roots. and i touched it. it's not slimy.

I love voodoo juice too!!! As far as h202 you cannot use it with organic nutes/additives...such as voodoo juice. h202 kills all microbes beneficial as well as harmful bacteria.

If you are using chemical nutes, however: You can use h202.

Buy some hygrozyme! I know you don't mind spending the $$$, because I know what Voodoo Juice costs. You will like the hygrozyme Too!:smokin:

Hope this helps.
