hey cannabis, 1st post in a couple months, had to get find myself i guess, but weed still remains a strong par of my leaf. so i have a small lowryder plant growing under a few compacts flourescents and nice window light when its available. i've never grown a marijauana ant beforek, so i'm not sure how good it's looking....seems healthy...

help tell me your opinion on its growth guys!!!

After 6 or 7 days from seed...

by the way, the paperclip is helping the plant grow out a slight bend near the top b/c she bent toward the sun yesterday :o

Looking pretty good so far mate. It'll be cool to see another lowryder grower.
Is this your first time growing? Good luck with the grow and keep us updated, lets hope its not a male!

I've started my first grow also being lowryder, thankfully its turned out to be female. Heres my thread: http://boards.cannabis.com/showthread.php?t=82489

O yea, how did you make that signature. I can't seem to find an option to make a signature? Thanks dude:smokin:

thanks guys, right now he/she is being grown on the windowsill at day (getting some nice bright sun lately), and inside with 2 compact flourescents (45 watt each) during the night. daily watering when the soil is feeling a little dry and basic fert. watering every 3 days.

i'm also glad to see you guys growing, I have a question though... is the stem too tall for it's leaf stage?? i've heard that it's good to layer some more soil on in this case to strenghten the stem and prevent falling over to one side, but i'll wait for an opinion. also every time i put he/she on the windowsill it get's good obvious growth, but she bends towards the sun making it hard to get her back upright(takes a couple hours). any advice?

and by the way, those are the 3rd set of leaves starting to form in the very middle on top, correct???

advice is great and PEACE~

ok first things first stop the ferts way too young wait atleat until they are 2-3 weeks old as for the leaning place her a diffrent direction to the window everyday you may be better off just using the CFL's window sun sucks the glass filters out alot of the useful rays plus the screen makes the light diffuse badly.

you can add soil to her stems just another inch for now :)

Ya guys so just a little update, this is day 9 and it like like my little girl/guy is coming along nicely. you can see the 3rd pair of leaves forming up right in the middle there.

I am kind of concerned about one thing though. If you notice on the farthest right large leaf there is part of the leaf edge turning brown??? I thought it might be because my light is only 3-4 inches from it, so i moved it down to 6 inches. I can't think of what else it might be any help guys??? Too much watering? not enought watering? :(

How far away are you keeping your CFLs from the plant?
And dont use plant food on it yet its way to early for that
like invisoin said.

maryjanehaze
09-23-2006, 08:05 PM
currently 6 inches from my cfl's, and ya i stopped nute's right away after that previous advice, what do you think dude??

yabatab

6 inches is way to much for CFls I kept mine at any where from 2 to 3
inches from my plants. A half a foot is to much, Cfls are usually kept as
close to the plants as posable without burning them. Put your hand
under the lights to see if its hot at 6 inches if not move your lights
closer to the plants but keep an eye on them they can and will grow
into the lights and burn I had that happen a couple of times so adjusting
your lights is about an every other day thing with Cfls.

you guys haven't really helped me though, how come the 3rd pic is showing brown on the right leaf  ?

the reason i placed it 6" away from the light is to make sure it's not from burning until i found out the reason why it turned brown??? i remember on my one accidental nute. use i got a little on the leaf by accident...could it be from nute. burn???

yabatab

adding nutes to soon is most likely the reason it got burned.

does that help :D

Adding nutes as was mentioned earlier is the reason for the brown. It's called nute burn. (Kinda like giving chilli to a baby!)

^ haha, thanks guys, so it won't spread or anything will it, i mean, all growth after now won't be "burned" right? :p

hey guys, just getting an update in on my grow. it's looking like new leaves just keep on coming and are looking pretty healthy :D , the only thing is, i realized there are some possible showing of early sex....(see last picture) and i pray that it's not male. i switched to an all around 24/7 lighting schedule and it seems to have paid off from what i can tell...

starting germinating a 2nd seed just in case...so i won't have to wait a long time if it turns out male, but i think it's too early to tell for sure. any info or advice is awesome guys, as well as questions  .

those are DEFINATELY NOT showing signs of sex. its just more leaf growth coming in. wait another 3 weeks then throw them into 12/12. in about 1-2 weeks after being in 12/12 u will see ur plants sex

Lowryder autoflowers...I'm very interested in this strain and am planning on ordering some seeds and starting them. 2 months isn't much waiting and I would say that for $60 10 seeds is worth it. Good luck, mate :)

alright guys, digig. cams out of battery for now but i have an important update! :D at first while looking at my plant today i noticed little ball like structures at the fork of the leaf extensions. I was really worried they were male sacs but then i realized they looked like calaxes and noticed what looks like small hairs emerging from them, so I'm 75% sure it's female.

Also, would a female lowryder that's 20 days old give off a marijuana smell??? because i swear when i sniff the very middle top (where mass white hairs usually emerge) it smells faintly of weed which i am very familiar with the smell of by he way! is this just me or can this be correct???

pics on the way guys

Mine started smelling at about day 18 so its pretty easily possible that yours would be too.

Thank marley it's a girl!!!

So just a pic update guys. It's been a while since I had access to the cam, but at last here they are. Been keepin the light on a steady 21/3 hour light schedule and excellent growth progress has been made. I was just able to make out 2 calyx's with dual pistils coming out today and i was so relieved :D . They're in the 2nd pic but out of focus (they're still pretty small). Can't beleive how rapid new leaf structures are coming also...Stem is also strenghtening nicely ass seen in pic.

I just added flowering bloom ferts to the soil a few days ago, and a strong planty yet slightly potty smell is emerging from my gal!

Any questions or comments are appreciated guys  :

Why are you keeping the light at 21/3? Experimental or is it a better ammount for veggetating? I thought it was 18/6 so correct me if im wrong?

peace plz
10-06-2006, 04:44 PM
Because lowryders are autoflowering plants, they can receive anywhere from 24/0 to 18/6 and grow and bloom perfectly fine. With mine, I am doing a 20/4 light cycle right now. We'll see how things work out.

Good luck and stay safe.

all this new growth is very appealing guys :D , but i didn't think lowryders usually got this wide. I mean my grow space is only 13 inches wide and my 23 yr. old gal is already 1 mm from 10 inches wide from all sides basically. Is this common?

hopefully more vertical growth will start occuring instead because she's began early flowering....?

Only 4.5 inches tall and 10 inches wide? More like wideryders!...haha...ya....

Dont mean to barge in MJHaze. I was reading this thread and developed a question.

Would only a female start to smell early in the flowrering stage or will a male produce the odor as well?

Peace.

Alright guys, everything has been going really well until today/yesterday...Besides all the nice flowering (can't even count all the scattered pistils anymore :D ) and usual growth, the bottom long leaves have drooped all the way down to rest on the pot...

at first (yesterday afternoon) they were just a little droopy so i assumed it was overwatering and skipped a watering. 1 day later i come home to see they are drooped down all the way and those particular stems don't seem to have the strength to hold up their leaves...?

was it in fact overwatering that got worse, or maybe underwatering? heat stress? right now i just gave her a gradual mist cause i have no idea if i should do a full watering or not. Any HELP guys :p ? I've come to far to have her slump over and die!

besides that my plant seems to carry the larger-size phenotype and has grown a nice canopy as well as dozens of pistils.

Dude one of my plants has been drooping pretty much the entire three weeks of its life, and i have treated it exactly like the others, who don't droop. I don't know what is up with this lazy lookin plant
