my buddy has a problem and it seems to be getting worse and worse!! we noticed that the water lever in the rez was leaving some kind of foam on the roots right where the water level is. now the roots started getting dark and i know that there supposed to be completely white. they seem to get worse and worse everyday, is there anything that he could do to reverse this? hes using gh nutes, in a rubbermaid tub, with a 400w mh. also, i would like to add that we used superthrive with the nutes but i dont think that would do this to the roots! please help us!! thanks!!!:(

your temp is too high probably...68 is what to shoot for. make sure you have enough bubbles also. I have a similar problem, super thrive is great for algae growth also when the temps aren't right iv heard. H2O2 is a good fix but be aware it will kill some beneficial microbes as well. For initial application I use 30ml per gallon then around 1/4 that every day after. Your plants will tell you if its too much....

Do a total flush and clean everything 100% then put in fresh Ph adjusted water with 10ml per gallon of peroxide. Run that for 24 hours then do it all over again. You can cut off dead roots and that will save bacteria in your water from the dead plant matter.

You can go back to your nutrients. I hope you are using the proper quality nutrients?

Zandor, would a beneficial bacteria mix like SubCulture help with a root rot problem like that, or is it too late?
