What I mean here is that everything that happens.. wether it seems good or bad happens for a reason and that any event (good or bad) could be inevitable because thats what makes evolution, progress possible.

I'm sorry if I dont express my ideas clearly and correctly but then again maybe there is a reason for that to. Maybe its to make some of you think harder or to separate those who need to understand from those who must not understand. Then again maybe its just to show me that I need more practice... :rasta:

1 thing I find particulary nice here is the diversity of ideas and beliefs that can actually enrich life itself. If you look at all of the spheres of life we can see an infinity of combinations and possibilities but too discover those we need diversity. I'd continue on but I got to do my homework now.

Nope, some actions or ideologies are quite counterproductive to progress. I think progress can only be made when we stop abdicating responsibility to higher unseen powers.

Relying on mankind and not haveing god has got us where we are today. That is the whole point to all this is mankind can NOT rule it self. We have distroyed the earth.

I disagree with the premise of your question. It is quite a philisophical can of worms. I do not think anything is "supposed" to be like anything. But then by me saying that, it could mean that my answer to your question is yes. Because things are what they are because there is no game plan and things happen randomly. That's not to say that I agree with the bad things, just that I don't think there is any preconceived plan.

If some say to that...."how do you know right from wrong then?"...there is a simple litmus test. Do unto others, etc. I'm not religious but that rule is a basic of humanity...even if it's not practiced as much as it's preached.

Mankind can rule itself! If you don't believe in that, you can't possibly believe in democracy. So what is it? Are we too corrupt and stupid to rule our own society, so we need some dictatorial higher power to tell us how to act? Or can we really run things ourselves?

It doesn't really matter anyhow, since we only have ourselves to rely on. I don't know about you, but I've had a hard time contacting God about this whole ethics thing to get his perspective. Whenever I ask a question, all I hear is silence. I can't possibly rely on God because if there really is a God he hasn't provided me one shred of evidence that he really exists, so it is impossible for me to know how he thinks I should act.

Either we live in a godless universe, or we live in a godful universe where the god(s) in charge must be really apathetic to all the shitstorms we're causing on earth, because they don't seem to be taking any action or even showing up at all! In either case, it is up to us to decide our own destiny and it is up to us to create the rules that we're going to follow. No higher power is going to come down from the sky to save us and tell us how to solve all our problems; we have to figure this shit out ourselves or die trying.

nope not at all. for whatever reasons people will do things that are bad or counterproductive and they will justify it and rationalize it until they don't see any problem with it. just look at terrorism. so filled with hate and anger that it clouds the mind. Islam is a peaceful religion, its the practioners that deface it. there's also too much corruption in the elite, just look at why hemp is illegal. human nature is capable of the most beautiful and the most ugly of things. in general, humans succeed most in tribal warfare. think of how much money goes into military, black budget projects, military etc. with all the power and technology at our hands we could be capable of solving a lot of problems like poverty, world hunger, pollution, and lots of other bullshit if only we wanted to. but we don't because man is very corruptable. who cares if we pollute our atmosphere and totally fuck up the world into a new ice age. it's all justified in the end with greed.

hhmm, the 'supposed to be' part throws me. That strongly suggests Intention by ....something.

It is what it is through cause and effect I guess. Einstein said the Universe is an event, so everything that 'is happening', did happen, and will happen. Personally I kinda hope it is 'just physics' playing out the math on a cosmic pallet. I would be pretty pissed off if 'something' intended life to feed on life, might makeing right, the innocent merilessly suffering, and the overall hopelessness most face in their journey.

I had the 'God has a plan for your life' thing pounded into my head since childhood. Just one trip to a nursing home, seeing the masses of elderly humanity, mindless and pissing themselves, made me sincerely hope no one actually 'planned' this as a conclusion of their long struggle. -- Carpe Diem

So I suppose the best thing to do is stop worrying about some Cosmic Intention, take the raw materials from reality, set your own intentions, work to make them your reality ---and design a good one! Evidence suggests there's not something out there designing it for you.

Mankind can be it's own god.

God can't come down and kill itself could it? If we are a piece of the seperated divine, and some of us are causing problems...who would be the one to stop them?

Would it be someone who's uninvolved in the whole process execpt for the beginning or the end, or the people are involved and are actually directly or indirectly causing the problem?

It's our own duty to control this planet and those on it in accordance which nature, being so NOT in control and simply at a balance.
