As much as I like 'em, think this is the first time I've used 'em as the subject of a post.

So we got these things starting to flower, and we want to find the male(s) and yank 'em. One of the things I've been told is that those white, feathery things are the female parts, out trying to catch pollen in the breeze. Yet I got stung, when a plant with these white fuzzies turned out to be male and that promising crop turned out to be a rich harvest of fertile seeds. So was I wrong, or was it just a hermy trying to confuse me?

I got a couple plants with these fuzzies and a couple that don't seem to have 'em. Been on 12/12 for about five days. Here's a couple pictures; my question is, when I see these, does that always mean they're female, or am I totally looking at the wrong thing?

Thanks for your help.

Hermies tend to show their male flowers after showing female ones.

Just keep an eye on them for any male flower development within the female clusters.

Most plants are strictly male or female with only about 1 out of 10 being hermie, unless enviromental stress causes a female to develop some male flowers, so the odds are that those are true females.
