alright, bascially im helping a buddy out, with his 20+ plants that are outside....14 are cut, and the other few will be cut tomorrow. i am doing the drying and curing for him.

Ive been around grows and have some basic ideas...and also did some reading.

ive been reading the last hour, and i wanna show you guys my plans...hoping for some more input, just to make 100% i got the right idea.

i found out tonight, 14 of the plants have been cut down and are at a spot...with a few more still planted and ready to be cut.

plan is to cut the others tomorrow and bring to the 'drying' spot.

Tomorrow, I am going to complety vacume the room and remove most of the things in the room, and sanatize the entire room with your basic sanatizer, just to be sure it's clean and ready to go.

I have a room, with a closet with 2 openings (one is your basic closet), and the other door is the water heater. Would you reccomend using the closet and room, or just the room because of the water heater directly next to the closet?

In this room, theres a heater....which I am able to keep the temp in the 70's (going to purchase a temp gauge tomorrow also).

I plan to hang half the plants in the one closet....which has the perfect bar setu for hanging, and for the rest, I plan to use a rop setup....in a corner of the room, and hang. I have been told to keep the humidity at 50-60%. My question there is, whats a good way to keep the humidity at that and whats the average cost of a gauge to tell me the humidity %?

From what I understand, I need to keep this room dark (theres a light and a window in the room), but I am able to put a blanket over the window, to keep the room at a dark setting. I am able to turn on the light to check the plants correct?

So I belive I need to let these plants hang for a good 5-8 days...or until buds are crisp. where the stem snaps when bent....

Now, when I get these plants, I belive there all still the main plants, is it best to dry complete plants....or trim off branches and dry a mixture of the plant and the branches?

Once to the crisp point, I am going to cut and manicure the buds and put into sealed jars....opening for air daily...I belive I need to bascially let the buds get wet in the jar...and open to let dry...and so on, right?

Thats bascially everything I really need to do.....I am wondering what the average time is good to keep the buds in the jars...a week or week and a half is what I was thinking.

When the buds I have manicured are put into jars....where is the best place to store the jars?

and if anyone has any other advice for me, please let me know. Starting tomorrow or whenveer I get this started, I can work on some pictures, for more advice on how it is coming.

I dont know what kinda harvest were looking at, but its around 20 plants that were grown outdoors.....so Im hoping to get 2oz-3oz per plant, as I belive some of the plants were up to 6ft tall.

thank you for any advice and look forward to getting this all clear and ready to go at it

Hey buddy,

You'll find people give you various advice, and various methods on this (and almost all grow related issues).
Most of the time there's several ways to do things, and which one is best is purely a matter of opinion.

IMO, you want a lot of air movement in the room. A simple cheap oscilating fan should handle that. IMO, keeping the room pitch black isn't a major issue.

Oh one thing i cant emphasise enough, you do not want your buds to get soggy in a jar and open them or whatever. This type of situation usually results in musty smelling (and tasting weed). I really, really wouldnt do it that way.
Even putting a large wad of paper towel in ur jars, and changing them as they become moist should help a lot. You could also you dessicant i guess, but I've yet to try that method, so i cant vouch for how good it is.

Regardless of what you do, follow a few basics and you shouldnt go too far wrong. Dont put wet pot into closed bags or jars. They'll sweat, and end up tasting pretty foul when they eventually dry. If you can find the balance between not drying too hard n fast (lose potency) and letting the weed sit with excess moisture for too long (especially if in a closed air space), then it should turn out pretty well.

I'd hang the whole plants upside down in that room, i'd probably stay clear of the closet with the heater, and i'd make sure i had a fan in the room. The humidity in the room (and your town/city) , the air temp during, and the amount of air echange in the room will vary the results. So keep an eye on it, and you should do just fine.

Good luck
