I used to think harder drugs were bad, until it started snowin' and I understood the ways. Of course everyone in their younger lives' were agaisnt it.
You are whatever you label YOURSELF. If YOU want to be a pothead, so be it. If you don't, you're something else. Simple as that.

I think I was the head of my class in DARE. Kids aren't that bright, they'll believe whatever you told them. I used to believe in santa claus, the tooth fairy, and jesus.
Being a pothead is a lifestyle choice, and one that I chose not to be a part of. Just because you smoke weed doesn't make you a pothead. In fact, the more you live and the more people you meet who smoke weed, you'll find that most of the people who smoke are just normal, everyday people who need a small escape.
Oh, and to dannyman, PUTS is great.

I used to be VERY anti-drugs and cigs. Mostly because my parents smoke cigs. Now I smoke weed a lot and a good ol' cig everyone in a while. Everyone thinks I'm a pothead but i don't think I am.

I was COMPLETELY anti-drug. I hated drugs with a passion. My best friend loved to go out and get drunk every weekend, and she OCCASSIONALY smoked. I HATED it, and I would always give her a hard time for it, ya know?
I went to bed one night, and I was completely anti-drug that night but I guess I had some really warm dreams because I woke up and the first thought that came into my mind was, "....I need to smoke weed."
That was 2 and a half years ago. Haven't looked back since. =)
Btw, I think what makes you a pothead is when you would fuck over your friends and those around you that care for you, all for the drug.
And I, too, thought I would NEVER try harder drugs, even when I smoked but....cola is effing amazing. Which is why I never buy it. =/

I think EVERYONE was anti-drugs at one point. Its like graph said, kids aren't bright and will believe anything. And since we were all told "drugs are bad" at some point, we believed it for awhile. So in a sense, EVERYONE was like this at SOME point, even if you first smoked weed in the 3rd grade, i'm sure you were against drugs in kindergarden through 1st or 2nd grade atleast.
Depends what you consider a "pothead". Would going to school everyday make you a 'schoolhead'? I think not. Because what the hell is a 'schoolhead'.

i used to be anti drug when i was younger
as for your other question, i don't consider myself a pothead, but everyone else at my school considers our crew the stoners. i guess i am cause i blaze like 5 times a day but i dont like to think of muself as one
Hi Bill,
1st question; No, I was never anti-anything. Typical 60's kid who wanted to experience it all. Especially as a musician; all the guys I hung out with were older, and I was always lucky to have access to experienced people, and had sense to listen and then make my own judgements.
Labels are what other people apply to those they don't understand. You're not defined by somebody else; you're defined by you. You're no more a "pothead" than you are a hippie, yuppie, schleppie, puppy, etc.
One best lesson in life - don't accept labels, they're never appropriate to the individual. Be YOU, and forget about how somebody else thinks they can reduce you to some neat little formula.

I think the term pothead is completely irrelevant to a specific lifestyle. I consider myself a pothead because I smoke every day, several times a day, yet it does not interfere with anything in my life, at all. Being a pothead isnt bad what makes it bad is the stereotype that alot of people give it, like a fucked up, worn out character that looks like britney spears on crack that can't read and shits on himself because he's hopeless, gimme a break. Accept it that you are all potheads too

YOU'RE A SCHOOLBOY!
I guess I was trying to say 'pothead' is just a stupid/bad term. People who use the word 'pothead' and label people as 'potheads' generally aren't down with people who toke up, so who gives a fuck what they think! Or something!

Like most others, I too was wholeheartedly against smoking (cigs and herb). Eventually I just said 'fuck it,' and bit the bullet. Naturally it was a good decision. :D
Again, like others say, you are what you label yourself. If you don't want to be a stereotypical stoner, don't say "dude" and "man" after every word, and try to offset the negative health affects of smoking with an active and healthy lifestyle (exercise, eat well, vitamins, healthy relationships <-yes that is also important)
God damn, I sound like a freaking health text-book. But seriously, I should listen to my own advice, it's pretty good.

I've always said "dude" and "man" way before I started smoking. A lot of people who dont smoke say "dude" and "man".
According to wiki,
Excess Taco Bell and Jack in the box food wrappers may be an indicator that someone is a pot head.
So don't eat fast food if you dont wanna be a stereotypical pothead!

i smoke a lot, i would not consider myself a "pothead" or a "stoner" im just a guy who smokes a lot of weed, i dont like labels. im me.

I guess I was against drugs/cigs. I think I felt like I was too young, like it was too big of a deal to get into it, and it sort of... troubled me... to hear about others doing it.
I did things at my own pace. But eventually you begin to understand how adults work, how it feels to be manipulated or controlled, and to learn that your life is your own.
Strange thing is.... Even when I was reallllly small, I always knew I wanted to expirience smoking. I always wondered what it felt like, knew I'd try it one day. (cigs). It just seemed so strange. Curiosity promotes life.

im very hot and cold about the subject. as im sure alot of us are. your probably alot like me in this sence. all through middle school i was very anti drugs. i wanted to be the only kid in my highschool who graduated without ever smoking weed. that lasted about 6 months when i discovered how amazing marijuana truly is.
ive learned to accept it as a plant and do not consider myself a "pot head" even if i do think it gets a little out of hand soemtimes. in which case i just take a couple weeks off from the bud.
but man if you just smoke it peacefully, with some friends or to have a chill night at home theres absolutly nothing wrong with accepting weed as the plant that it is. only when you become dependent, or abuse it as a "drug" do you become a pothead in my opinion.

youve got soem good stuff here man. except for the shit about saying dude and man thats bs. i know plenty of people who dont blaze and say dude/man all the time even tho it is a bit stereotypical. but yea man as long as you live a healthy lifestyle you are who you are. if you truly believe you are not a pothead you arent. fuck whatever other people say. they cant understand, they are not you. read the marijuana manifesto posted by thecurious1, its stickied in one of these sections of the forum.

As a kid i was very anti drug, but when i was in grade 10 all that changed because I thought my step sisters friend was hot! and if I smoked pot with her she'd like me (Never said I was a smart kid!) To make a long story short she never even liked me at all, and I fell in Love with Marry Jane, 2 months later My step sister ratted out to my Dad, I lost it afterwards and tried to storm out of the house My Dad beat me to the door and slammed me up against the wall and screamed right in my face. but who cares found out years later he smoked pot too...he gave me a joint to smoke when he dropped me off at College, go figure that was when I had quit smoking pot for a few years. But now I'm back to the chronic, and if I were to label myself a pot head now, you bet I am one!
Wow ya, um I ramble....

Yeah, I used to pass on grass because I thought (had been brainwashed repeatedly) that it was bad. When I finally starting researching it myself, through the help of this site probably the most I realized I should try it and that I would be fine. I smoke every day, multiple times, when I have it so I'd classify myself as a pothead. I feel that term has certain derogatory connotations, however. I prefer the word stoner.

I was really against drugs when I was younger, when a member of my familly was drinking beer or something, I would pick up the glass and throw it on the ground.

I use to think drugs would turn you into a monster. Well iam 19 i smoke pot almost everyday and the only monster looking thing on me is my hand thats been that way since birth. I live in a rich neighborhood, i go to a good school, i dont get in trouble i make ok grades, i dont steal even though some damn kids stole my speakers from my truck BUT anyways. No just because you smoke doesnt mean your a pot head. a pot head is someone who will do anything to get their fix. Steal pawn sell other things you know. I dont think of my self as a pot head just s weekend toker. Never tried other drugs just pot well except tabs but that was from surgery. Sometimes we all need to escape whats going on and relax. Somedays just need to be forgotten.

1. Yes, I was like this growing up. I sucked down everything the DARE cops told me and swore I'd never do drugs. As I got older and more confident in thinking for myself, I made educated decisions as to what I would and would not do.
2. IMO, a 'pothead' is someone whose life revolves around smoking. Someone whose day is not complete unless they 'wake and bake' or they have to smoke every hour, on the hour. Not to say there is anything wrong with that, to each their own. But like with alcohol, would you call someone that has two beers a day after work an alcoholic?

I have never taken anything at face value so it was inevitable that my curiosity and demands for truth would have to lead me to experiment or in some cases learn from others mistakes.
Heroin is imo the pits , anyone thinking of using it needs to be slapped.
Alcohol is poison imo and should only be used moderately.
As for meth and crack you can keep them as I like myself too much to have done anything other than try them once, cocaine is my twice a year excess and thats how it's going to stay
Stoner ?? I suppose to some that's what I am , but I'm a lot of other things too , being me is all that matters to me not someone elses idea of who I am.

I've heard too many people say the word pothead as an offensive slang. Where as i've never really heard someone say the same about stoners. I just prefer the word stoner. Toker extraordinaire if you will.
