Ok what's up everyone the first question is can someone tell me if these seedlings are stretching too much?(pic below they are about 7 days old nirvana's misty strain. I'm also setting up tubs for the vegging area I'm sqeezing about 20 in each 2x3 tub I think they are 55 gallons, 3 inch netpots. I want to set up tubs for the flower room which is bigger so I want to put them in bigger tubs with 6 inch net pots. Is it possible to switch pots in dwc.
Or can I just ride it out in the 3 inch pots. I still want too keep them close together because I don't have much vertical height about 5 and 1/2 feet and the lowest spot on the edges is 4 feet. How close is too close for sog with about 80 plants 2 feet tall? If I connect a whole bunch of 100 gallon tubs with lines running between them will the water circulate on it's own passively or do I need a pump and a control reservior. I also have about 25 skunk#1 freebies and only 1 spout 9 days in. How much longer should I wait? Allright and my last question is how many mothers for 80 clones a month? Thanks Guys

Heres some pics of the room it's almost done. I think I'm gonna section of the veg and mom area and leave most of it for flowering. I'm worried that all of those tubs of water are gonna go through the floor and I'm considering switching organic soilless for the flower. Is that a bad idea. I want the tubs connected so I don't have to change the water every 2 weeks. I know I'm a pain in the ass there are easy directions for simple set-ups but I am trying to get most out of this space. Thanks

I now have all of the seedlings staked up with chopsticks. Their stems cannot support all of the new growth. I have flouro shop lights 2-3 inches from the tops and they are growings really fast all of the roots have now hit the nutes.
I don't know is this normal? how can I strengthen the stems?

PLEASE HELP!!!

A gentle fan moving the air around the plants will strengthen the stocks.
What temperature (color) of light are you using?

Seedlings in grow rocks already is not really a good idea. If you had rooted them (even from seed) until you had 4 sets of true leafs (then you are in the vegetation cycle) at that point then you have a true plant. The stems will always stretch a bit and you can use that when you transplant them to get the roots deep in the net pot the put the rocks in on top. That will hold up the thin stocks and give the plant a good base to grow from and provide strong support for later on in it’s life cycle.

In addition to what Zandor said, sprouting the seeds in a different media, like a small rockwool cube you can bury in hydroton later, gives you the option to bury a lot of the stem when you transplant.
I always bury mine right up to the cotyledons, because that part of the stem has the potential to grow a lot of roots, and roots are GREAT.

If I follow what you're saying, stinkyattic, the cotyledons would be those very first two leaves that are round and look nothing like cannabis leaves. Yes? And you're saying that everything below them will grow roots if you bury them?

Thanks a lot guys. I added some more blue light, moved the fans a little closer, and buried them a little deeper in the pot. The stems are much thicker now and the plants are standing up on their own. Now I'm not sure what's going on. My leaves have started yellowing in blotches. I thought it might be nutrient burn. So I flushed the plants with water and then changed the reservior to just water for about 12 hours then they started drooping a little so mixed in a little less then half strength on my nutes and now they are standing up staight and the new growth is all green and the lower leaves seem to be getting more yellow. I am using Ionic Grow for hardwater. I didn't have the money for a ph tester, but I just got a cheap drip tester and the ph was at 7.0 I dropped it down about five minutes ago and now it's at 6.0. Could that be the cause of my problems? I'm going to keep watching them if anyone has any thoughts please let me know. Thanks

be care full once burried in growrocks if you move the pots the rocks will crush those delicate little stems. always plenty of gentle airmovement from the moment they crack will stop the entenuating too much! and geting the lights not too close at first and bringing them down slowly over the space of a week or two. once you have three or four sets of leaves you can really start to give them light,,feed very very little and boost thase roots all ya can so they dont get too tall too soon if ya wanna keep them in such a low roon!
good luck!

welcome to the world of endless possibilities,,,,hydroponics

Please do not crush the delicate little stems. :( They look a bit stretched. it can still be remedied. Like has been previously mentioned, when you transplant, bury up to the cotyledons. Good Luck! :D

Thanks for all of the input guys, things seem to be getting better.... I think. This is my first grow. I pulled out the rocks 1 by 1 and dropped the 1inch rockwool cubes down almost to the very bottom then replaced the rocks delicately 1 by 1. the cotyledons are still about an inch above the 3 inch netpots. Turns out my tub is 31 gallons and not 55. So I think the yellowing is nuteburn. I flushed and dropped the ph to like 5.9 it was 7.5, it has been 2 says since and the new growth is green and the roots are really developing,
the leaves that had the burn if that's what it was are slowly dieing. I don't know if the are supposed to bounce back or if my problem is continueing?
So lights are now ten inches above the tops and the temps are all right and solution is a little less then half strength and the ph is holding stable. If they pull through I am looking to get sixty clones into sog asap. What would be the best way to do this? is it possible? Here are some new pics. Thanks for all of the good advice. if anyone knows anything about this please let me know

lil off subject but seen your room pic. be a good idea to insulate them rafters and provide good air circulation especially with multiple HIDs. wouldn't want any hot spots showing from outside, especially if you live in the city. hehe why doesn't that guy have any snow on this roof?
