From the mind over matter thread there was a debate if it was possible to get high without smoking. I had heard of the "drug of choice" induction but had never tried it. I found a simple technique to induce a high by remembering a time in the past when you have taken that drug.

1. Remember a time when you had a good experience while high. Go to the very beginning of the memory before you took your first draw. Now remember putting the joint/bong etc to your lips and inhale. Become aware of the first sensation in your body. Once you feel it move to step two.

2. Take your second hit. Become aware of this next sensation. When you are happy move on.

3. Go back to step one. And repeat. Once you have done that take your third hit. Get the sensation and then move on.

4. Go back to the start and repeat.

This is a very basic explanation of the technique and there are other factors that come into play but this will get you started. I'm off to bed now. I'll elaborate more tomorrow.

It would be nice if it worked like that. Unfortunately it's hard to relax and pull mind tricks when you're having a shitty day and dealing with alot of stress. I'd find it easier to just relax and not think about getting high if I can't. Trying to cop a mind buzz would prolly stress me out even more.

I know where you are coming from with the stress thing. This technique has many other applications. It has been used to induce orgasms. Not just the final ooooooaaaahhhhhhhhh! but all the build up to which makes it. All the sensations leading up to it. Even if you just want to relax you could remember your most relaxing time in your life. When you are fully in the state of super relaxation... DOUBLE IT! Your neurology is capable of making zillions of different sensations. A lot of people have 5 good feelings in their whole life. Find more. Take all the feelings in between those 5. When we feel good life looks like a joy.

You are only limited by how powerful your imagination is. Have you ever felt good about going to a movie but after it you were disappointed? Your imagination gave you more good feelings than the movie itself.

I've noticed you're online during the day more than most. Ususally the forum is borderline dead in the weekday mornings. Good to have some live people on during the day as ususally I don't post that much in the evening unless I'm pulling a late shift at work.

Some more info...

If you ask someone "do you know what it feels like to be
inebriated?" they'd probably say yes, consciously, but that
inebriated state wouldn't (in any significant way) be available to
them.

However the brain & the body learned what to do under the influence,
in a certain sequence. If you remind the brain what to do in what
order, it follows its own steps into the state. And sure enough,
viola, people re-experience the state. Nice thing is -- unlike with
the substance in your body -- you can then snap out of it pretty
quickly -- or you can turn it up and then turn it down -- or you can
morph it into something different, etc.

Now these states are experienced as real, usually including
diminished or delayed responses (if they chose alcohol). So I
wouldn't want someone who experienced the drug-of-choice induction
using their memory of alcohol to get anywhere near a car in that
state. However, unlike a drunk who could take hours to get sober,
the drug of choice subject has none of the actual drug in their
system, still affecting the neurology & ever-so-slowly metabolizing.
As such, drug-of-choice subjects can shake off the effect in very
little time.

Last night I tried this technique. Not with weed but with something else. It only took 5 minutes of my time. I got into a relaxed and comfortable state and put my headphones on. I was playing music similar to what was playing many years ago in my experience. I ran through the steps and got a similar feeling which gave me hope that I could do more. I then got up thinking I would do it another time when I could really relax. I felt a little warm and that was about it. Then I got distracted and forgot about what I had just done. Then suddenly I became aware of the music building towards a peak and I got a very intense rush up my body... up my legs.. my spine... over my head and across my jaw. The only time I had ever felt this kind of intense feeling was while on the drug. Now that I know it is possible to get all really intense remembered sensations that I have learned I'll be trying it with every good feeling I can remember. Stacking them together and making even more intensely pleasurable sensations.

A few years ago I didn't know anything about taking control of my own brain. Then someone mentioned visualization to me as an off hand comment. Next time I had time to relax I tried it. I tried to make pictures on the back of my eyelids. This is not the way it is done. In a search to know more on the subject I started to read some visualization books. I've been doing it for a while now. It adds spice to my life. Another dimension.

A great book to get you started is "Using Your Brain: For a Change" by Richard Bandler, Steve Andreas, and Connirae Andreas. I think it may be out of print but you can get it on ebay. It was written in 1985 but is still packed with many techniques that are useful today even though a lot has been updated. One of the first parts asks the question "Who is driving the bus?". Most people go from day to day reacting unconsciously to events in their lives as they happen. They are the passengers on the bus. This book shows you how to get in the driver seat.

This link takes you to submodalities. We have our 5 senses to detect the world around us. We also have those 5 senses in our minds. We could call these "modalities". Lets take the visual modality. An image in our minds has many attributes. Brightness... distance... 3D/2D... size etc. These can be called "submodalities". Remember a pleasurable time from your past. You will have a feeling associated with it. If you can become aware of the image notice where it is. Notice how bright it is. If you increase the brightness does that change your feelings? Turn it down till the picture is dim. Most people will notice when they darken the image the feelings diminish. This is not always the case. Everyones experience is different. It's a subjective thing. Double the size of the image. Do the feelings increase? Read the page on this link to get more attributes you can change.
