hello, I have recently germinated and planted my seedlings. They were doing ok, but when I changed from my shitbox 150W CFLS to the 400W Metal Halide, some of them shrivled and died. The others look ok but I'm affraid their roots may have been damaged by the heat or something. Also, they're in a clone dome right now, should I remove it? Thanks.:stoned:

yes, you should remove it.
im guessing you cooked your plants....literally.
imagine being trapped in a glass box in the middle of the sahara desert, thats how your plants feel :0

Put them back under the CFLs.
Putting the seedlings under too-intense light caused them to transpire moisture faster than their tiny young root systems could replace it.
If you must use the MH, keep the dome over the seedlings but prop it up on something so there is still SOME air movement.

Give them a bit longer under the cfl's and when you put them under the mh's keep them further away and slowly bring them closer. Check your temps too, you may need to increase ventilation.

Hey man if you keep em under the MH put the clone dome over them and prop it open so there is passive ventilation. BUT, put 1 or 2 cups of water in the clone dome with em, this will keep the humidity up.

Every one is trying to get big buds in the first week. A seedling DOES NOT need strong lighting. You can put them by a window or something for a week until they look like a little plant. Mist them to keep the moisture level up. After this, keep the strong light away from them so the temps are in the 70's. The strong light is after they grow up a little bit. I see pics on here that people have a strong light on the soil even before they pop out. This is a NO NO. Peace

How you doing Tide?
You, as was pointed out, roasted your plants.
Poor babies.
Anyways, that's why this is a hobby. Learning. Life and learn.
Or fuck up, live, and learn.
How old are the little ones?
How tall?
How far away was/is the big bulb?
