Surprised no one has posted this yet

In Montreal, Quebec @ Dawson College there has been a shooting. So far 1 dead and 13 in critical or near-critical condition. Police are reporting that there is only 1 shooter and he has been detained, but talking to witnesses they say there are definately at least 4 shooters. 1 shooter is lying dead on the steps of Dawson College right now, 1 was detained at a nearby Plaza, and 2 or 3 are unaccounted for. Apparently there was a standoff on the nearby street of Peel, but that isn't being reported either. The only things being reported have to do with what the police have accomplished so far, and the things the witnesses are saying [but apparently being hushed right now by the media] are that there are still a guy with a mohawk, a guy with long black hair and a trench-coat, and possibly another man with no description free. There is a subway system connected directly at this college, so it is incredibly easy to believe that these guys have gotten away, though hopefully not

I have a friend who was there today, she hasn't answered my message, hopefully she is okay

EDIT [from someone on a Montreal Canadiens board whose daughter witnessed this]:

"Wow ... my friends ... from what I hear ... it's a friggin mess, my daughter said that apparently Dawson has Security in the school, but they were the first to scat when hell broke loose , apparently she saw a kid in the main hall, right around the stairways that lead to the cafeteria floor, the kid was bleeding

and a girl was trying to get help, security just fled ... she tried to pull back one of the guards, the guy pulled his shirt and just ran"

Man, I can't believe someone thinks that they can pull shit like that. Imagina you wake up in the morning, expecting it to be an average day, and a while after you get to school, a fucking shooter comes in and kills you...my god its horrible.

how do you guys know that the kids killed might not have done something to deserve it? i dont know what to think, it could have been any body, as for the military rifles, i am a 15 year old and i bought a mosin nagant rifle from Big5 with my dad! and i bought an SKS from a guy in a hotel room, he kept insisting that the SKS came with a mauser for free, but i didnt want it. as you can see, guns are very easy to come buy, and all you would have to do is get a M16 or M4A1 style semi automatic rifle (pretty mutch legal, just gotta be 18, and thats even in kommiefornia!) and then buy an illegal lower receiver with fully automatic fire, detachable magazines, etc. and your pretty mutch just as deadly as a US marine. its scary, but if every body had them, then shit like this wouldnt go down. i would pack a .22, .25, .38,maybe even a .45ACP to school, if it was legal! but i aint gunna go around shooting my ex girlfreinds new boyfreind or nuthin stupid like that!

You people baffle me, i heard gun nuts saying that kids in columbine should have guns and the pilots of the 9-11 planes should have them. I dont think the answer to gun violence is more guns, sorry. And no way should teenagers be packing heat, you dont make good decisions, you are quick to anger you are all hormones. You get beat up or you get mad or your gf leaves you and first thing you do is start shooting.

gun laws wont make a difference. Its not legally obtained guns that do most of the killing.

i think i just went over the fact that i wouldnt shoot any body unless they had a gun pointed at me, sounds like a good law to me! i am not quick to anger, but i am most certainly not going to just start unloading into somebody becaus they pissed me off. ass hole cops dont even do that.

This has nothing to to with guns, or gun laws or anything of the sort. People wanting to inflict pain and misery will allways find a way to do it. Bombs can be easily made at home as well as a number of ofther death bringing devices. Let's not debate an undying subject here. There's issues with those kids that will come to light eventually, but asking why they had a gun isn't the question to ask, it's why they decided to kill other human beings.

My thoughts and prayers go out to the victims and thier families. I hope they can eventually find peace again.

It is sad. I was listening to it all day in my lift truck on the radio. On the news this morning, they posted one of the shooters pictures on the TV of him holding his gun, looking real "tough." It reminds me of the threads that I see going on around here, with people looking super cool with their weapons.

Weapons do not make you tough, or hard. Put your hands around a mans neck and look deep in his eyes as he dies, now that is hardcore. Guns deprive human beings of having a set of balls, and the people with guns, are too afraids and too pussy to deal with their problems head on. More guns are not the solution, less guns are/is.

I go to Dawson College...when people first said there were gunshots and that people got shot I was like...no way. But then everyone fled so I realized that something bad had indeed happened.

This is correct. Stop scapegoating these incidents on a peice of metal. It is a tool, no different than a bat, slingshot, kitchen knife.
We need to find out how these people are formed. Develop better methods of psychological counseling for teens. Support our fellow man, not leave them in their turmoil to melt and sink to the levels of hate.
Don't be an idiot. Guns are just effective. Without guns, the lower level of weapon will be scapegoated. Eventually we'll just have to cut off our hands.

.

How can you stab, slingshot or baseball bat double digits numbers of people? You might get one or 2. This is about guns. Society isnt ever going to do shit about reaching out to trenchcoat weirdos, and that shit seems a silly simplistic solution to mass shootings. All the counsellors in the world wont do jack shit, guy is evil, columbiners were evil, some group hugs just arent going to solve it.

:( I'm a quebec resident and not too long ago a friend of mine told me that the girl who had died from the Damson College Shooting incident had graduated from his high school. And I realize that another friend of mine would talk about her all the time.. even though I have no direct connection to her I still heard stories, some laughs about her and such. Feels weird to know that a college near me was shot up and just a shit load of innocent people got injured. I was reading up on the shooter, he looks fuckin nuts man..

It's not about reaching out to trenchcoat wierdos.
It's about stopping people from BECOMING trenchcoat wierdos.
Sure, it's easy to label an individual as evil. We all have the components in ourselves to become one of these people. When you and your friends were young and picked on by a bully, did it Never cross your mind to just take a gun and end his existence? I have the self-honesty to admit it did. However it's ACTING on those thoughts and emotions thats truly horrendous.
However, if you'd like, I'm sure we could develop some kind of psychological test for everyone to take that defines whether or not they're "evil". And as always, the right course of action would be to end their existence immediately upon conclusive results.
...Right?

1 sword = a handfull of deaths
1 bow and quiver of arrows = several more deaths from a safe distance
1 gun = however many bullets you can load and fire
1 fertilizer bomb = hundreds of deaths

I could go on but it doesn't matter. Changing the weapon that someone uses to hurt others doesn't make the killing more or less evil. Life is invaluable and deaths can't be measured. If we can prevent kids from wanting to destroy themselves and others, then we can actually do some good. Plugging a gopher hole might prevent him from comming out there, but another path will be made...
