Hey this is the grow closet me and a buddy built today. I think it's pretty sweet. Under the big chamber is a little area for cloning, the ballasts, and some storage.

Once the plants are ready to flower I plan to build a wall between the two lights so i have a flower chamber and a vegging chamber.

I've got a room (2ft x 7ft x 8ft) with:
400W MH (on the right)
400W HPS (left)
100W T5 Florescent under for cloning

lovin it, best grow room I could hope for only problem is my stupid plants see my other thread

any suggestions welcome

Hmm.... You shoudn't have actually build a "wall". A good solution would be to just to put a wood frame beetween the two lamps. You can take garbage bags(Black garbage bags are preferable, of course) and staple them on the frame to prevent light from interfering with each of the both side's plants. If you notice this is not enough, consider getting more opaque material that will not let light shed through. Watch out for the stapling part though, make sure you don't rip up the garbage bag or pull on it too hard.

Be sure to watch out for any exterior light that might interfere with the plants(E.G. you turn on the light to get to the closet). You should block as much external light so that the growing/flowering stage isn't hindered. Even a bit of light can hurt.

Cheers with your growing buddy.!

Hello Haris7,

:)
I was looking at the nice pic you posted of your closet...

Very nice. Watch for it, because you'll see it get transformed into something very special.

I think you should monitor your temperatures in your "lower" chamber, where the ballast is located. Make sure the temperatures don't climb too high (:p).

Another thing, is that I see the rug, as a floor.
Carefull... from my experience, you'll get lots of water on the floor. Water with nutrients. Constantly. Plus all the dirt that flies away. And the leaves that will fall off. etc.

So, maybe you want to put something down there to protect the rug (if it matters).

IMO, the fluorescent setup you've got on the floor right now, if all four bulbs are turned ON, it's too much for cloning. When you're off to do it, start off with one bulb, maybe two. Too much light can stun the clones.

The other thing is light proofing.... you should take small steps constantly to keep on light proofing your cab. When 12/12 comes around, you want that completely dark. Especially if you're running a veg schedule down at the bottom.

I liked to use the 'black pond liner' material they sell at hardware stores. Drape it over the seams and hold it down.

Nothing... looks good budy! :)

Thatā??s a good idea, I was going to put a plywood "wall" but it would be much easier to just build a frame. I already have this really great thick white plastic that i got from a grow store. and I think I will also take the ballasts out of the room (keep the heat down) I just need to get some extension cords

For the T5 bulbs, I was using all 4 on and it worked out well but next time I will try one or two bulbs on at first.

Thanks guy

WHY on EARTH does everyone keep thinking that the other lights will interfere? The sun has a full spectrum ... what makes you think a mixed spectrum is a bad thing?

no man, it's because i'm building a wall between the two lights so that i have one flowering chamber and one vegging area. obviously you wouldn't want light getting into the flowering chamber.

Yes. Since the vegging state is on 18/6 and the flower is up at 12/12... the flowering part of the cabinet could get light interference from the extra light that the vegging needs so in order to prevent such things from happening, you need to isolate both sections from each other so they have their proper light lenght.

Cheers

do you have some sort of ventilation or do you leave the doors cracked?

right now i only am using one light (MH) as the plants are small. Once they get big and are ready to flower i plan to get some simple vent. system probaly just a hole with a fan in it

uhh, word of advice: get on the venthilation pronto. You don't want to be running 400W without any venthilation, let alone 800W. Better just give in spend the money and buy a centrifugal fan and hook air cooled inlets to both lights. Good luck

Well here is a little update on my room. I've finally finished light sealing it in. Deftdrummer, you were right the temp gets way too high so I had a big fan blowing air in to keep the temp in check.

I just got this dual ventilation fan from Rona (Canadian store) and it works really well (see pic) it was 25$. And here is also a pic of my biggest plant (Still not that big)

and for odor later on Iā??m thinking about getting the odor neutralizing CFLā??s anyone ever used these. They seem pretty sweet for growing. Provides light and kills odor, Maybe itā??s too perfect

thanks for the advice, any more?
