Hey guys, about 2 hours ago I slashed my finger open really bad at work (i'm a cook). Well, my boss is a really nice lady who i've worked with for years, and she's like "You better file for workmans comp, I don't want you having to pay for the stitches."..

Well, first of all, If I do file for workmans comp they'll piss test me won't they? I just went, got the two stitches and payed the $120 Deductable. It kind of sucks losing that amount of money, but I don't want to file for comp because they'll piss test me, and I'll fail it miserably.

Hell, I don't even know why I posted this. Guess I just wanted to share my little experience today. :stoned:

Usedchemicals is right. That's almost universal state workers' compensation policy to do a routine drug test on claims. It's just purely a liability safety net that protects employers in case there's any serious indication of fault in the injury (and especially if there's future litigation) and keeps the workers' comp group from having to pay money they don't have to pay.

So sorry that happened to you. How many sutures did you get?

Well that's totally understandable, although I wasn't high at work..

I only had to get 5 stitches. I'm fine now :p

i partially amputated my finger almost a year ago. i filed for workman's comp, but never took a drug test. i also didnt get paid for the time i missed. but my hospital bill was covered for, so im not bitching.

That's good, Yoda!

Yeah, SPQR, I knew you hadn't been smoking at work, but of course if you'd tested positive anyway, they'd still have denied the claim.

Yoda's story makes me wonder if perhaps they have claim limits they drug test beyond. Like if it looks like it's going to be a claim of less than $3,000, say, they may routinely not test. I'm going to ask my husband to ask at the hospital if they know how that works here in Texas. And I'll try ask around where I used to work. It may even be something the employer itself specifies when setting up its coverage in its state.

Just substitute your urine..its easy theres allot of things similar to the wizzanator that just just as good and allot less $ if your unsupervised. Its the way to go.

I highly doubt they will make you take a piss test.

And if you do... you have to sign a paper allowing them to do so.

So relax and smoke a joint...

Hope your finger is doing better!
