??Put your hand on a hot stove for a minute, and it seems like an hour. Sit with a pretty girl for an hour, and it seems like a minute. THAT??S relativity.? - Albert Einstein

I've been interested in time distortion for a little while now. I had an experience of it today when listening to the Scotland football game. The game seemed to whizz by until the last 5 minutes. Lithuania scored to bring the score to 1-2 to the Scots. I started to think.. "get this game over quick!". The commentator said 4 minutes to go.. Lithuania on the attack.. I was almost biting my nails. It felt like 5 minutes had gone by and I was waiting to get an update on the time.. "3 minutes 30 seconds to go"..."WHAT!" now I WAS biting my nails. Lithuania attack again but just miss. I was now sure another couple of minutes had been eaten up... "3 minutes to go".. "ARRRGGGHHHH!!!!!". Well this went on for seemed like a half hour until the referee finally blew for full time. This is the kind of time distortion I don't like.

I cast my mind back now to my early days of toking and remember how I would let my mind wander on what seemed like an age in a pleasant daydream. I would pop out of it and check the clock thinking 10 minutes had passed. One minute on the clock. Now this is the kind of time distortion I love.

Has anyone else experienced time distortion.. good or bad?

PS. There is an interesting book on hypnosis and more specifically time distortion called "Time for a Change" by Richard Bandler. He gives the reader the tools to take control of their perception of time.

I experience time distortion pretty much every time I'm blazed.

One time I had mad time-distortion though. I was pulling gravs in my back yard, like 9:30am and everyone was at school/work already, before I finished smokin' I was like "Damn I better hurry up before someone comes home from school/work, wait, how long have I been out here? 10 minutes? 3 hours? wait how long is 10 minutes? What does 10 minutes feel like?"

Yeah.. I always find myself checking the clock on my phone every minute or two if I have to be somewhere but if I'm just chilling playing video games or something then I'm fine..

But yeah I know what you mean, imagine the difference in 45minutes in class at school (1 period) vs 45 minutes hanging out with friends. Completely different 45minutes

i know and even more intense time distortion difference. 5 minutes of copying down and working out algebraic equations from a chalkboard vs, 5 minutes on a roller coaster. thats some serious fucking time distortion right there.

Everyone knows that feeling. It's interesting how our brains can perceive the same amount of time in completely different ways.

I love it when I'm high, and I become intensely involved in some activity like playing the guitar, eating, reading, playing chess for what seems like hours and hours. Then, I'll check the clock, and it's been about 3 minutes. It's seriously a way to slow down time, because we're slowing down our own reality. And the only reality that exists is the one you create.

the first time i smoked weed, it felt like i was stoned for a whole day, but it was only 3-4 hours. It sucked though cause i was making a pizza and it seemed to take hours and hours to cook.

Thanks for the replies people. One thing I've noticed and heard from a lot of people is that as we get older the faster time seems to go. As a kid the summer holidays used to last for what seemed like forever. Now it seems that summer has come and gone in a snap. I remember seeing a guy on TV going on about how we can make life slow down by having new experiences. To kids everything is new so I can see how that would work. I better start making a list of all things I've not done but would love to do. Anyone for a bungee?

Come to think of it, I experienced a kind of time distortion today during a class. The clock in the back of the classroom said 9:00 (the time that our class starts). However, I didn't know the battery in it was dead and apparently neither did our professor (he looked over at the clock near the end of class and was like "What?? It's still 9:00? that can't be right..."). Well, about 20 minutes into class, I looked at the clock and actually thought it was still the beginning of class. Well, about 20 minutes later, I looked at it again and the time was still the same. I then knew that the clock must be dead. However, it made the class seem a lot shorter today which I was really happy about.
