So i bet a few of you guys go street racing. i couldnt find a similar thread so i decided to make one for those of you who have customized cars and/or go street racing. show off your rides or just talk and about different modifications.

personally, im trying to find a way to customize an old car to get some power out of it.

I will race, nothing pro, just for fun, with my buds only. Raced my friends 2003 Toyota Echo with my moms CR-v, my mom was in the passenger seat :D, she doesn't mind my style of driving * psychotic yet effective *. Hey, I got us to Toronto in one piece, at 185 KM/h for a few mins, and 140 - 160 most of the way. Luckily there was no popo's ;)

Right now, im looking for either a Honda Civic SI Type R, VW GTI, or an Abrams M1A2 tank <--- (hehe). Hmm, would be nice to drive the Caterpillar 797 Dumptruck around, No need to spend time looking for a parking space, just crush everything in the way and make your own! :D

But yeah, a Civic, VW GTI, or some cuddly little car that I can make into a Sleeper.

For those that may not know: A sleeper car is a car that hides high performance beneath an unassuming exterior.

no, just that every body puts a wing and euro lights on moms old civic with a NOS sticker and some rims worth more than the car. not to mention, who wants to race with a Front Wheel Drive? if your talking about SCCA drifting, then you can forget it if youve got a honda, no point in tuning a fwd for drifting, just because you saw it in initial d or fast & the furios, doesnt mean its true. even when i go to the altamont speedway, the hondas are always either parked in the parking lot, or they didnt place. the top 8 always is a RWD, nissan, mazda, or a toyota.

I personally like the look of Honda's / Toyota's / a few other "riced" out cars. Small engine, good fuel economy, can be modded nicely and still be pretty good on gas for its power output. I don't like American cars, never really grew up with them, also, I prefer the "Technical" sort of style to jap cars as oppose to big clunky v8's. No offence to any Domestic Lovers :)

lol, define fast, I've never seen a fast civic/crx without an engine swap, yeah they can be made very fast if all you do is keep the cars frame, but an engine swap with something that wasn't designed to be in the car is unreliable.

well as you can see i dont have a big wing, stickers or euro lights, i dont have neons or a painted interior. As for racing in scca, they have different classes for all cars "ie : fwd , rwd, and awd, also the class of the car and the modifications it has, " http://www.scca.com/ can help you with your noobness to the sport, ill fogive you for being ignorant.

P.s. - Auto cross is not about drifting its about driving threw a course of cones as fast as you can with out losing points, if you want that you can go here http://www.usdrift.com/Default.aspx

its not unreliable, what do you think racecars come off an assembly line, get a clue man they are put together to be made fast. some frames are cutom made and every part is individualy made for the car, some are off cars you can buy at the deeler or older cars "regurlar cars ingeneral". With your above statement your also saying that any mustle car or truck or anything with any engine is unreliable, you just neeed to drop this argument your not going to win, as for an engine swap in my car here it is, its a pepy fun to drive car and thats what i wanted:thumbsup:

Ok,First I want to say Car People are VERY opionated about their Rides...That being said,I'm "Old School" and Love "Detroit Iron"!!!! Nothing sounds better than a 700 Hp Big Block Chevy Reciding in the distance...But has any of you seen what a 69 Chevelle SS Vert costs nowadays?? Like 45 Grand!!! Lets not get into COPO Camaro's,Yenko Novas or Chevelles,Baldwin Motion Chevy Anythings,Anything Mopar (Pre 71) Anything Shelby or any version of the V-8 Vegas!!!
Am I into "Imports"? Yes,But only One...Volkswagens!!!

Please laugh if you want, but for the cost of just a Honda engine,You too can Do This>>>

I Respect ANY car that can run in the 9's at the local drags,But those "Tuner" Cars sound like a canfull of wet pissed off Hornets!!

in the second video it looks like you used oil to create the massive smoke effect,

placing oil under the rear tires, or glazing the surface with oil

( or you just stopped in a puddle ) :-p

whats the point in that second vid though, create a load of smoke and pollute the atmosphere? im not a hippy i love cars even yank ones that drink fuel like theres no tomorrow, but that just seems totally pointless

Its a Water Box,or a puddle if you will. The same thing that most dragways use for people to do burnouts in. front wheel drive cars do not need to do burnouts as much as rearwheel drive cars, its a traction issue.Front wheel drive cars don't use "weight shift" as a way to gain traction, but rear wheel drive cars have to.No its not oil

yes its a lot of smoke, but Much safer than street racing!as andy704 asked a lot of folk are into street racing,I am not. Street Racing may be thrilling but it is dangerous as hell. dragways have saftey crews, med teams, car regs all to protect the drivers and fans. This is where Burnout Contests got their start.A much safer way to have a car contest than ripping off down some street.
