400 Watt HPS question

I have a 400watt HPS and i just want to know will this do for veg and for flower? and how far do i keep it away from the plants in both stages of growing. thanks

Usually HPS is used in flowering stage, altho some growers use it all the way...
The distance will depend on how cool can u keep the bulb, the coller u can get her the closer will u be able to put her on top of ur canopy, currently i have mine at about 18", plus 4 x 18w 6400k fluoro tubes in my grow room...and i dont have heat issues (so far)...

thats fine, if you have to buy a single light, HPS is the one to get.

just make sure your temperature is good, and dont put the light to close when they are babies.

abut 12 inches above is good for both. when they are babies you want to protect them more, or put them on a window sill for the first few weeks, then when they are strong, put them under the light.

That is perfect to go all the way since the bulb covers both light spectrums, if ure starting from seed get the seedlings a foot maybe a 1 1/2 feet away, if ure starting from clone u can go a bit closer, just remember the cooler u can keep the bulb the closer u can put light....the closer the light the better the plants will do...

No u dont need to change the bulb dude, as for the distance like i told u if u the cooler u can keep it the closer u can get ur plants under it....and yes to flower u just need to switch to 12/12 and change the nutes...appart from that i can only wish u a happy grow

Get your air flow right and you can bring your light as close as 12-14" above your flowering plants. According to many growers, the close the light to the plant, the better! But you must check them daily to ensure there hasn't been a growth spurt and the fresh tops aren't getting stressed by heat. I keep 600W HPS around 24-36" away from freshly potted clones for around 1 week or until they look like they are striving in their new home. I then lower the lighting by 12" and keep the lights around 18-24" from the tops from then on until harvest. If I had Cool Shades I'd keep them closer. Adjusta-wings are good because the heat dissipation keeps the area between the plant tops and bulb relatively cool in comparrison to other cheap shade that I also use when I miscalculate space and cutting survival rate.

Flush your soil (i.e just water no nutes for a day or two) between 18/6 and 12/12 to help eliminate chemical residual build up in the soil from nutes that aren't likely to be used much by the plants once the cycle changes

Find yourself a two or three part nutrient and remember 100% organic is the best way to go

at the min ive got my light pretty far away cuz im a noob and DO NOT WANT TO BURN me babys. yea the soil drys out pretty quick, but only the top.under neeth will be plenty of water..never give your babes to much water.if the soil is dry and crumbly. give it a good spray. i would spray twice a day but not heavy at all... also i dont use nutes or nething yet.. im very basic...and their growing..

it is ok. but lower would be better. Optimum growth happens around 74-77F or like 23-25 Celsius. Its really hot where i live now San diego and my ladies have been up as high as 100 deg. farenheight. They are doing ok.

thats a nice wee stup mate.. love the camera to.you best bet is just to wait till the seedlings pop up then put ur light on. humidity wont be a problem. if youve fans on..the attic looks big thats good to. means the heat will spread out. honestly dont worry about humidity or temps.. yet.. pics look sweet.. ps dont let the soil get cold or it will slow growth.. nah man not 24/7 when the seedling comes up put it on 18/6. what strain is it? worry about hum and temp when the stem gets thicker and youve loads of leaves.. a big attic is the shit,cuz its nice and dry, my grow is pretty much the same as yours. ive four plants one indica and tthree sativas.soo they will grow at different rates thats where i fucked up.. but as for them meen time, just be paitent and wait. YOU HAVE ALL YOU NEED TO GROW SOME NICE BUDZ ;);):)

i dont know the strain, my sister brought home a load of seeds from jamaica they all said it was some shit, they were parro outta the head and all that they says they never smoked anything like it, sounds good to me.

I can't see any sign of germination/growth! I would put those pots in a propergator to keep the humidity up. Without green leaves you are wasting electric, further more the top of your soil is going to dry up with that light and temp and you could harm underdeveloped roots. Nice setup tho

this is my up date , they popped up at last, I was not useing good soil i got some good soil and they popped up over night, how often should i water? and what nutes should i get for when they need them?

drizzle about 10-100ml of water IMO, do not sturate the soil with water ...probly once a day depending on how quick the soil dries. I'd add a 1/3rd dose of hygrozyme or a root accelerator once the first set of leaves show.

I doubt anyone will ever be able to look at your plant and tell you the strain, not with any degree of accuracy. There are thousands of strains, and the differences between one and another are often so minute that the only way to really know is to buy the seeds from a reputable seed bank AND be willing to trust that they sent what you ordered. The best anyone is ever likely to be able to tell you, just from looking at a picture, is whether it's an indica- or sativa-dominant strain.

not really sure think its 20.10.10 n.p.k for veg and more potasiam for flower.. check it out...
