A few questions, possibly taking half a pound cross country. I know the odds of something bad happening are about 1 in 50,000, but still, for piece of minds sake... If you're not traveling particularly close to national borders, do any highway cops even carry dogs?

Past that, let's say you do get pulled over speeding by a trooper with a dog. I've read enough posts to believe there is no way to completely dogproof your stash with household items. But if triple bagged/taped/sunk in liquid, the dog would have to be practically on top of it with his nose to detect, no?

Regarding probable cause, I know a dog alert will provide one, but would the copper need a probable cause to take his dog out of the cruiser and check things out? Or are they simply allowed to drag their beasts around wherever they feel like?

I know I could simply grow a bigger pair of balls and just throw the shit in my backpack and leave, but I always freak out when I think about worst-case shit.

they probably won't have dogs you just need to make sure there is no probable cause for a search

Drug task force cops sit on my piece of interstate highway (40) almost 24/7. They are there when I go to work, they are there, when I go home. Probable cause? Don't worry, they will think of something. Cars with out of state plates, makes the hair on their neck stand up.

State troopers and cross-county task force cops patrol the highways, national, state and local alike, of Texas all the time with dogs. They pay fairly close attention to the interstate routes (national highways) since those are the likely routes that drug-totin' folks take. They will find any reason to stop you if you arouse suspicion, and Dutch Pimp's right. They'll find some official reason to search you if they want to. They may not have the drug dogs right there with them at all times, but they're usually somewhere within a two- or three-county range.

You're wise to be cautious. I'm not sure that's a risk I'd be willing to take.

I'm a retired longhaul trucker, who used to take my dog on the road with me ... whenever I was going thru a Dept. of Transportation check/search, they would immediately yank their drug-dog away from my truck, upon spying my dog ... I can only guess the presence of my dog either messes up their sniffing, or they just wanted to avoid a dog/dog confrontation, but they always left me alone ... :smokin:

sounds like, if u bring a dog and take the precaution to seal your weed with the "household items" you should be set. Even if you get pulled over they wont search your shit if u are smooth.

I drove across country 4 times with a big fat weed bumper sticker on my ride and never got fcked with. :D
