Well I've always had longer hair than my friends have because I'm a skater from the city moving into a more southern town (hicks and whatnot). More recently I've been letting my hair grow (right now it's about shoulder length) None of my friends like it, which every time I'm around them, I'm a little out of place sense they all have super short hair. Now that got me thinking. If my friends can't accept me because of the style they were raised around, are they even my friends, truly?

Well Tomorrow I'm staying with my friend(who I've known since about third grade), and I want to know if you think I should cut my hair. I personally don't want to but I don't want to be the center of attention. Sometimes I don't even want to stay there because every time I do he always says I need to cut my hair. (As a joke his dad always, always says "cut your hair you damn hippie.", which is cool, because he is like a second father and I know he is joking.) Does anyone have some advice for me? I would really appreciate it.

Do what you want.

Don't let others control you.

If you like your long locks, let 'em flow.

I too have toyed with the idea of the ole' snip-snip up top, but decided against it.

It sounds like if YOU cut it, you'll be conforming to all those southerner's tastes.

Do YOU.

Screw those conformists. ~

nah, keep it, i cut mine and instantly regretted it

EeeeXACTLY what happened to me! My hair was passed the middle of my back, and it made all the girls envious because it was fucking gorgeous, not to be too narcissistic or anything, but it was. It was amazingly beautifuly hair, really curly, extra thick, always smelled good (but because I was like a girl with it, always keeping it clean and using lots of conditioner and stuff).

Anyway, I think I'm bi-polar (a doctor hasn't said anything to me about it, but from what me and my friends have experienced of my emotions, I pretty much am) and I was in one of my completely shitty moods, realllllly pissed off and depressed at...well...absolutely nothing, now that I think about it, lol. I was so pissed off at everyone and I wanted a way to get back at THEM, and everyone loved my hair. EVERYONE told me to never cut it, how I looked soooo much better with long hair, etc etc. So...what did I do?

I'M GONNA GET BACK AT PEOPLE THAT LOVE MY HAIR, BY CUTTING MY HAIR! OH YEAH!!

Did it work? FUCK NO! In the end, I just went into the bathroom, put it in a ponytail, and cut off about a foot and a half, to 2 feet worths of hair.

What did I do after I wised up, calmed down, and got my head straight about an hour later? Effing cried and cried about it, lol. I'm over it now, because it'll grow back in....ohhh....3 years, but I mean...I INSTANTLY regretted cutting it, as did everyone else.

It's funny because, my girlfriend of 10 months told me to never cut my hair, and I cut it, and a week later she broke up with me. Coincidence? I think not.

My advice is: DON'T CUT THE HAIR!

Leave your hair as is, if your friends stop hanging around you cause you have longer hair, well that's just really lame and pathetic of them, and doubt that will ever happen! your hair is your hair! Style it and keep it at whatever length makes ya happy ya damn hippie ;)

Hey man I live in the south too. Don't let that shit get to you, it's just how the people are.

I get comments most everday about cutting my hair or something. You just have to do what you want and pretty soon those comments won't even phase you. Oh yeah, and a lot of girls do dig long hair. Especially black girls too for some odd reason. Heh.

Dammit, I'mma grow my hair super long!

I've had kinda long hair, but then I usually cut it super short, just to be crazy, and so I could see again. This is the longest I've ever had my hair, http://img55.imageshack.us/img55/9048/hippyce8.jpg

(note: the hair in the eyes was an accident when I leaned back, it wasn't no faggy 'omg cool hair in the eyes' crap)

I wonder if I'd look cool with long hair...

Go ahead and cut it with the knowledge that you can always grow it back.
Who knows, you may like it short and maybe you'll be the new town hottie!
You'll sure get lots of attention!

I've got hair just past my shoulders. Everyone tells me not to cut it, chicks dig it, but I still think about cutting it every once and a while, out of lazy ness. Sometimes its a drag, like right now, I've been sick for like 2 days and Its all greasy and nasty. Not to mention trying to hit a bowl and worrying about my hair catching a blaze haha.

Just because they dont like your hair dosnt mean they arnt for friends.. You are entitlled to do wha you want with your hair..Tell them straight up. You like your hair and wont cut it.. that dosnt mean they wont stop being your friends just because your hair is long..You can put it under a hat like my friends do if the fact bothers you..But you shouldnt cut your hair simply because your friends dont like it

Who gives a shit what your friends think.

I have long hair too, now about shoulder length, and everyone likes it.

I even had a drunk guy come up to me and my buddy, and asked if could get a ride downtown, so he said sure. The guy asked us for crack, we said nah man, and he called a "fucking longhair", a what?! Are you from the 70's or something man? :p

To say the least, we dropped him off on the side of road downtown and said, good luck finding that crack.

you should grow it really long and then donate it to locks of love. its an organization that uses donated hair to make wigs for kids with cancer. so in the mean time you could just tell everyone that youre growing it for a good cause and that if they don't like it than they want little sick kids to suffer

I'm not superficial or anything but my ex had gorgeous long hair while we were dating and about a year after we broke up he cut it and I eventually saw him again. I thought I was still crushin' on him and shit because of his personality but when we hung out and I saw him, hairless..I totally lost all spark. LOL anyway, point..you're not gonna be the same person if you chop off something you like..i.e HAIR

Well I'm back from my friends. His dad said that while I was sleeping he was going to come into the room, quite like a ninja and shave my head... I stayed awake until 5 in the morning. I guess my friend doesn't really care how long my hair is, which is awesome. We went to The Froggy Pond (a pond behind their huge ass land) Made a bonfire, and sat back there all day smoking. It was awesome as hell there, except for my legs hurting worse than they did when I came there a few days ago.

Howdy Y'all,

Heck..I'm still trying to figure out what a "skater from the city" is..lol.

Is that someone who makes a livin roller-skating ? Or does it mean a city-slicker who ties to skate out on all responsibility ?

I started growing my hair out back in '72 and have been at odds with the short-haired rednecks, ever since. Most jobs require short hair, however,it wasn't a requirement in the oil patch, back when I was roughnecking, then I got disabled and started growing my hair and beard again. So now my hair is dang near to my belt and my beard is down to the middle of my chest, when I do have to around rednecks,I have my gal braid my hair up. I thought about cutting my hair, when I was having to go to court, earlier this year, but then I decided, that the court will have to accept me as I am..that I'd be danged if I was gonna conform to what they wanted.

I don't understand why so many young fellers like short hair,I tend to call em punks, cuz they usually act like punks and I know one that's proud to call himself,a "pot punk"...lol.

With all that short hair going on,it's hard to tell the pot punks from the sh*t-kickers..lol. I have to look down and see if they're wearing pointy-toed boots or not..lol.

Have a good one ! :stoned: :D
