i can go to borders and pick up any book if you think they sell it there, im looking to get atleast 5-6 books. i dont really want to go into any detail, but it for a freind of mine, 24 years old, 35 days, all he can bring is clothes and books, i know hes read things like Art of War, fear and loathing, anything that he might not have read before ( he doesn`t read mutch ;| ) things like War Stories, maybe some mafia stuff would be cool, as long as its not fake, real events would be cool, when it comes to war stories, and mafia stuff. he likes cars (mostly ford mustangs, 88-96) also i dont know if this would help mutch, but here is some bands i know he likes
Tool
type o negative
older stuff like willie nelson (i think?) and johnny cash
jimi hendrix
greatful dead book would be REALLY awesome, jerry garcia biography?
pink floyd, and other psychadelic stuff, would be cool.
Slayer
The Doors, some sort of story book, maybe a jim morrison biography?
pantera
even if youve got a suggestion for a book that you think a kid like him might like, im already trying to bring him a mini DVD player, and a buncha comedy, action, war, etc. DVD`s and band live DVD`s.
help would be really appreciated, as he is really going to need some good read, im trying to see if i can get my old acoustic guitar, some picks, and a tableture book so he could learn to play a little, but its hard tog et him stuff like that, damn strict ass rehab teachers. hes a full grown man goddamit! espeacilly since its costing over 1,000$ a day to be there, so if you ask me, there should be a couch, king size bed, flat screen, day spa, massuse, that kinda shit, money would have been better spent on a fancy hotel for him to stay at and sober up (since that is what he wants to do, he says, but i dont know what these people at this place are REALLY doing for him except for treating him like a prematurley born baby. for more then a month, but i make sure i dont leave him hangin, people come see him alot. hes got alot of balls to agree to sometihng like this over some damn oxy contin, but i dont know, ive never eally been addicted to opiates.

when i got hurt snow boarding, he was there like every other day, and i would get my street clothes on, and walk right out, me and him, and then i would go home, see my girl, take a shower, get baked, and then have the hospital calling to have me come back and that i can not leave until blah blah blah days when they can discharge me and i am heald. he went in my room at home and got my bong, and got some of HIS bud, that he doesnt even smoke, only sells, and he was there to smoke me out ALL the time, even brought a space cake on my b-day, no one suspected a thing, but the hospital would get mad and say that i stall have to come back till my discharge date, he even brought his girlfreinds lap top, and i stole the wirless net connect at the hospital, or it might have been the hotel next door, all i know, is that i was playing counter strik against him in the hospital room at the hospital, and he was at home, playing me, and my brothers where playing too, it was so sick, lol.

Hostage by Robert Crais is a great book, Cry the Beloved Country is good, On the Road is good.
Dracula sucks though, never read Dracula.

On the Road is good.
Agreed x10. Jack Kerouac is incredible.
A few more recommendations:
Donnie Brasco - Joseph D. Pistone - True-life story written by an undercover cop who infiltrated the Mafia. Amazing read, and what makes it even better is that it's all true.
God Bless You, Mr. Rosewater - Kurt Vonnegut
One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest - Ken Kesey
Anything by Ken Follett, John Grisham, or Thomas Perry is also bound to be good.

Tuesdays with Morrie - Mitch Albom
Who's afraid of a large black man - Charles Barkley
Philosophy for dummies - Genius

i have a big book about the grateful dead called Long Strange Trip by dennis mcnally, who was the bands publicist for a good few years and a friend of jerry garcia. Its a pretty much comprehensive history of the band.

If he likes the Dead get him the book "Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test" by Tom Wolfe. It's a true story about the whole acid party/hippie scene in San Francisco during the late '60's. Some of the Grateful Dead's first concerts were playing the Acid Test parties, and they're brought up several times in the book. The thing about this book is, although it's a true story it's written like a novel, not just a history book or collection. For example, people like Jerry Garcia, Ken Keysey, and Timoty Leary are actual characters in the book not just names. So, it's really an entertaining read.

One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest is a great book. Ken Keysey actually had electroshock therapy as "research" for this book. Ken Keysey was also the big acid guru of San Francisco during the late '60's. Kind of like the west coast's version of Timothy Leary. He's also the main character in the book I mentioned "Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test"

i was going to cut out the middle section of a pos paperback shakespear, so i could put some serouquel in there for him, when ever you get a really bad jones, grab something to drink, and some serouquel, take it, and sit back, and watch T.V. try to see if you can finish one show without sleeping...
a old freind of ours was doing coke, then crack, and one night, when i was over there, i was watching him as he smoked a rock of crack, the first 2 hits, and he had taken a serouquel when he took the frist hit, and he woke up the next day with his pipe and rock in side, by his bed, you hear that? fell asleep, while smoking a crack rock, kind of ironic? i tried it one night after a long party, and i layed down, and tooke 75mg, and it was like looking through a kaleadscope (sp?) and then i fell asleep before i got past the T.V. guide channel, and the bottle even says, non narcotic. nay one evere heard of it?
my friend keeps recommending 'go ask alice' to me. its by an anonymous author though. but its about this girl and her drug experiences.
