I voted no. I think that there are too many people and organizations that have too much power that do not want it to be legal.

Yes, there are a lot of people that don't want it to be legal, as are there many groups opposed to alcohol and tobacco...People are lied to from the second they can understand someone..."Drugs don't belong in America. Just say no!" Fuck that. I was bored just like every other kid before I found that smoking marijuana was the shit. It allows people to lead more happy lives, because smoking pot makes us happy...There's a shitload more people who grow and smoke pot in this country than there are who are pushing to keep it illegal. We just need to stand up and tell them what we think about them basically forcing us to drink alcohol if we want to feel better. Alcohol is deadly, pot isn't. Give us the fucking freedom of choice/

I said no for the exact reasons. But I do have to agree with Markass because you can't keep a lie going on forever, people are finding out the truth. Eventually it will be legal yes, but not anytime in the next 5 years.

Exactly. If I had to put a date on it, I would say we have at least 30-40 more years of weed prohibition in the US, depending on how world politics changes. I would bet on the United States only legalizing it after Canada and Western Europe have, and caving in to external pressures (I have a feeling the US won't be the uncontested superpower of world affairs this century). As for Canada and Europe, I would say legalization is fairly likely within the next 20-30 years.

You've got to think positive, people. How do you think we are able to get our hands on such nice smoke today? Because people did it anyways. We're doing it anyways. If we're capable of doing what we do with this being illegal, we're more than possible to doing something about the law. Roughly 12 million Americans smoke pot? Something like that. That's a lot of people. A lot more people are realizing: "Hey, that kid Marcus' eyes are all bloodshot and I think he's stoned out of his mind...Well man, he's like over there talking to those people about how much more harmful alcohol is than marijuana..." Hey, that kid Jimmy's over there and he's drunk out of his mind. He can't even stand up and he's uncapable of talking to anyone."
It's just that people don't know that when you're high, you're not much of a different person, it's just that you..yourself have a different feeling. And when you're high, unlike being drunk, it's very very unlikely that you're going to interfere nor even affect anyone around you.
A lot of people who really know me, know that I love to get stoned. Smoking weed is what I do. But these people also know that marijuana isn't deliberating..because I'm not a bad person..I'm just like any other average joe, only I like to get high before I do things. But it doesn't impair me from doing normal things, nor does it make me a bad person...This is what weed is. It's something that makes you feel better about living and doing things. That's why it doesn't need to be illegal. It should be the alternative for alcohol. We shouldn't only be allowed to drink alcohol to lift our spirits...This is fucking AMERICA. We should be able to grow all the cannabis we want.

It's been illegal for less than 1% of the time it has existed. That's not very long as all. I think it is going to change that now. Because when I get older, I want to be able to smoke without people looking at me like I'm a 'filthy doper.' Because that's what a lot of people see it as...But I don't want it to be like that once I'm older. That's going to fucking suck. We need to get things how we want them to be when we're older...

I vote that its not,,,,,,,,,,
Why not .Power ,Money and it just dont suit them Yet.. Period. Be posative thats good, look and the bright side off life nothing roung with it. Dont however be fooled. Cannabis should be legal we know why its not, many combined reasons but Ill harp back before i go. With the greed on display in this world combined with who pulls the strings i dont think it'll happen and im In Ireland not the US,,, only the other day a High up Minister in our goverment told the press that Ireland has no Plans to decrim Cannabis.
in fact one went on too say it causes cancer and the irish gov would be sued by ex smokers for allowing them to smoke legaly. I know but you can smoke cigs in Ireland but no we have a smoking ban in Public houses Pubs with no smoking. In Ireland yep thats Right and it weasnt even put to a public Vote,,
Ill just Dream on and wish But im not hold my breath

There are a lot of people who want it legal, but there are still far more people who dont want it legal. While eventually, the percentages will change to mostly everyone wanting it legal, its almost ridiculous to actually consider marijuana being legalized on a national level, or rather if the US ever did something as HUGE as legalizing marijuana, it would more than likely turn into a global level. So.. anytime soon? No.

Guys, don't be so skeptical,I'm SURPRISED that the MEDICAL front is doin' so well! If we could ADD to that a revived Hemp For Victory program, eventually we will prevail!

It will because our country has a system that lets States make their own laws. Sure the Feds will interfere, but they must do so cautiously and on a limited scope. If the Nevada legalization passes this year, and they actually grow and sell marijuana, then things will have changed drastically already, and legalization will essentially exist in Nevada.

I hate how stereotypical everyone makes marijuana smokers seem. We're not recreational drug users, we're CRIMINAL DRUG ABUSERS. That alone makes it sound so horrible, as if we're smoking crack and heroin while sodomizing a 12 year old. And the government does everything they can to make it sound so horrible, that they basically try to ridicule people for smoking weed, for any reasons (including medical purposes).
My reasoning: I was watching COPS last night and it was a Hawaii episode... they spent hell of time and money (a full day) flying a helicopter around looking for outdoor patches of Marihuana. These beautiful plants were budding like you wouldn't imagine.. oozing with resin and tricombs. And the helicoptor came by and swooped down and the officer said "see this plant this is lots of bud, this is where they make their profit this is big money for them" and then they took the weed. then the cop said "this was a good day today, we seized all this cannabis and we ruined a few people's day". It sounds like these people are sadist assholes because to them it is a good day after having "ruined a few (marijuana growers) day".
I also hate everytime I watch something about medical marijuana on the news, they make up some cheesy catch line ... like "medical marijuana advocates campaign going up in smoke" , or something like that.
What I'm trying to say is that the people running this country are fucked up. The original patriots would probably tell you the same thing if they were still alive..
