Need some advice (new indoor setup)

I'm looking for some advice for my new indoor setup. I never used a HPS so this will be my first grow with one. I'm looking to yield about 3 oz's. I know its hard to predict a yield because of the factors that come in to play when growing. My growing meduim will be soil, as for equipment I have a CFL 125 watt hydrofarm (for my veg), 430 watt HPS (430 Watt Philips Son Agro bulb). The room size is 10X12 (With good ventilation), for ferts I'm using rainbow organics veg (4-2-3) bloom (0-12-0) and also superthrive. What I'm looking for is a rough estimate of how many females will I need?, Should top them or use LST?, which method is quicker?, this grow will be over the fall/winter period so my room when the lights are off will be 65F will this be a problem?

The grow area of 10x12 confuses me - you mean feet? That you won't need... :) I grow in a cab, 3x2x6 approximately, soil, with a 400W HPS, so similar set-up as you. With 4 ladies in there and perfect genetics (Female Seeds, Ice & NLxIce), I am definitely looking for more than 80g...

to cover a room thats 10x12 feet...

you are gonna need a SHITLOAD of light

make it smaller, especially if u onyl want 3 ozs..

The room I'm putting them in is 10X12, there is a closet area under the stairs thats probley 4X5 would that be better?. I don't understand why I would need more light if I grew 4 plants in a 10X12 room. With the light over them wouldn't 430 watt hps be enough, or do they have to be in a inclosed area?

yes i mean you can get a lot of herb froma room that size, unless you have a lot more lights and a lot more ferts just trim it down to about a 3'x4' cab as far as number of females....as many as you can
