Neat formating. I can see why all this Illuminati silliness has so much appeal. Certainly the rich and powerful have a great deal of power. But the conspiracy mindset paints it as being done far more slickly than anyone, rich or powerful, is able to accomplish.

Ya know how they're always showing all this cool Special Forces, Superspy, BS in the movies. How they're so precise and manuveuring flawlessly? Then you see the real Special Forces, spys n' such in real life fucking it all up like little boys playing swat team. (think Somolia/BlackHawk Down) It's kinda the same way with all these supposed 'evil powers' controling the world. They're just not that good at it.

But peoples imaginations take off and they're visualizing Dr. Evil or Goldfinger. I think people enjoy it...enjoy it enough to obscess on it. Think about it--you don't see very many people obscessing on global warming, poor education, the plight of the homeless, etc.....<really big problems...like you do all this cloak and dagger stuff. I guess it makes life seem more like the movies and not so mundane. Oh well, whatever breaks the tedium I guess.

It all someone else's fault, someone else's responsibility. All of the "uniformed" are left to do the work, and to try and fine the answers for extremely complicated problems.

Ya gotta admit that Matrix presentation was a pretty good metaphor though. It's giving us fiction, claiming it's fact, but still paints it in high gloss fiction. After all The Matrix really was just good Scifi.

All you have to do is take a little bit of fact and paint it into a surreal video game conspiracy--complete with binary code and control console. We have an all powerful super-menace, the devil, aliens, superbankers and computer players opposing the forces of evil!...all the good stuff is there.

Maybe that's why it's so appealing. We can bring our movie and game fantasies right into real life. We grew up in the fantasy and it's a letdown that reality isn't like the movies....what a drag. I can sympathize. I've done my time with the games, movies and scifi pulp.

Doh! Why didn't I see it before....I just realized what all this Illuminati stuff is all about. As a society we're forming our mythology! Angels now days are aliens but the tradition continues! Check out Joseph Campbell: The Power of Myth.

There are dozens of quotes like that. NEVER underestimate the power of denial. Its called cognitive dissonance. That quote is by George Washington.
