I have severe degenerative arthritis&my spine is fused because of it.I am probably faced with further surgeries in the future.Ive taken morphine, oxycontin, dilaudid, oxycodone, both of the percs, demerol, soma&flexeril and as my disease progressed I found myself having to take more&more& it never did really stop the pain althewhile making me loopy&slobbering idiot. I unfortunatly live in a state that doesnt believe in natural healing. although i smoked before my illness,I now use it for pain relief and I am amased at how well it works. It all but relieves my pain completly. The pharms didnt even come close.I will use it till the day I die.Comments anyone?:) :D :stoned: :smokin: :pimp: :rasta: :p

I've read that marijuana is antiinflammatory, so it may be directly relieving the cause or symptoms of the arthritis.

What are you smoking/growing? The more indica it is, the more relief you should get!

Just to let you know, I've used weed for pain relief in my back and neck for a couple years. it worked amazingly for the first year and a half, then it stopped working, now it actually makes the pain worse (hence I'm stopping all toking till christmas and my tolerance is back to zero). So just a word of warning, don't use it every day as a sole means of pain management (as I did) of you may ruin the good effects.

are you sure that what you were smoking hasn't changed from medical grade too not so helpful? Not all cannabis is good for pain relief..

Get yourself to a MMJ state! There is an amazing sense of relief when you finally get "legal". In California, all it takes is a REAL reason, your medical records and $200 or less for a recommendation. You walk in with your records, get a quick exam, pay the doctor and you're legal! That simple! Get a vaporizer and save your lungs (smells a lot less, too). If you decide to research MMJ and arthritis, all you need to do is google --cannabis abstract arthritis. This will get you all the latest scientific studies!

marijuana gives me a LOT of relief from severe degenerative arthritis ... I have read that studies show the CBDs are strong anti-inflammatories ... certain strains have higher levels of CBDs, and most any plant can be flowered longer, to degrade the THC into CBD ... just harvest as the trichomes are mostly amber, and you will have higher levels of CBD, and strong pain relief (a bit of a couchlock situation, usually) ... :smokin:
