Me and my brother in law recently started a bagseed grow to have a run at it before we start the good seeds we are gonna get from drchronic.com. Our cabinet that we are growing in is 3' tall and about 2 and a half feet wide by 4' deep. We have one 120 watt 2200 lumen fluro on them and we also have a few strip lights but we havent gotten around to makeing a ventilation system yet so we cant run it with all them in there cause it gets too hot. Also a few of the plants have alittle yellowing of the tips and one of them actually the leaves are curling up which i think could be nutrient lock up or over watering, but here are some pics .......
First pic is of the biggest one.

second pic is of the tips

Third pic is the same plant as the first.

Anything?
notorious P.O.T
08-31-2006, 01:15 AM
are you feedin them any nutes... because the plant with the yellowing tips looks like its suffering from some nute burn... the curling plant could be coming from the heat.. you said theres not ventilation? how hot is it getting in there?
delta9thc06
08-31-2006, 01:25 AM
The average temp when the lights is on is around 80-85. Also no im not feeding it any ferts.

I'm using miracle grow, and my plants look healthy so I'm hoping they'll continue to grow. Plants need light, water, and food to live. You give them that, and they'll give you smoke eventually.

Also i was thinking of buying a 70 watt hps flood light at homedepot with a 120volt ballast, do u think that would work?
notorious P.O.T
08-31-2006, 02:53 AM
yes that will work very nicely.. but you will deffinatly need ventilation with that...you can even use the hps to veg if you suppliment it with some cool white cfl's... and about the nutes hmm does the soil their in have any nutes in it .. or maybe it could be a nitrogen def...
delta9thc06
08-31-2006, 03:04 AM
Yes the soil is miracle grow so i assume it has nutes in it. Also im planning on making a carbon filter with fan and also im putting another oscilating fan in there.

well then it seems like you have your cab very well planned out... about the m.g soil .. it just might be too rich for your little girl i would reccomend transplanting her into sumthing less rich... but thats just me.. either way best of luck

I think im gonna flush her then maybe transplant her to a 50/50 miracle grow and regular soil mixture.

Do u think i should add sugar to the water of the sick plant because its stressed.
invision
09-01-2006, 02:37 PM
the best thing right now is getting her out of that soil use something with nothing added to it that way you can determine where the problem starts you also have to test your PH or your plants will die.
MG soil has a high PH to begin with so to me its locking out any nutrients the water may have usually a yellow leave indicates a nitrogen problem but in this case i believe its your PH
delta9thc06
09-01-2006, 09:54 PM
Yes we are working on fixing that problem. We have already transplanted the little ones into a better mixture.

Well we went to lowes yesterday and picked up a ducting thing to make a carbon filter and its gonna most likely get painted flat white today. The plants have had a 100% increase in health! A full 180 id say. The sick one is no longer sick and is in rehabilitation mode, the yellow tips are fading away.Everythings great.:D :D

delta9thc06

No we switched it to half soil and half miracle grow.

I was thinking of doing mylar or painting it flat white, what do u think would be better?
notorious P.O.T
09-04-2006, 08:49 PM
mylar is better but flat white comes in close second...and also flat whit is cheaper..
delta9thc06
09-04-2006, 09:42 PM
I got both on hand right now which one would u use?
invision
09-05-2006, 12:24 AM
id use the mylar... paint needs to dry and seems you dont have the time right now plus mylar is more relfective just make it as tight as possible to get that mirror effect
delta9thc06
09-05-2006, 01:15 AM
Thanx ill go with the mylar then.

flush the plants with phed whater asap, when i say flush i mean use 3 gal of phed water with no nutes
anotehr problem your habing is the damn miracle grow soil it will let nutes out when ever it pretty much damn feels and the ph is off inthe sooil for the cultavation of mj, if you want to grow with miracle grow, just use it with no nutes and make sure you use phed water
delta9thc06
09-05-2006, 04:27 AM
I already got that problem all sorted out but im probably gonna flush it once just to be sure.

Finally got some new pics of the grow! Its goin great but they are getting a bit wilted. I suspect that there gonna need more nutes. Also the lights are now 1 100 watt fluro and 1 150 watt and soon to come a 70 watt hps, but i have a question. If i get a 70 watt hps can i change the bulb with a higher powered one and still use the same fixture and ballast or do i have to get a new fixture or new ballast.
The biggest

the wilting can either mean the plant needs water or y o ur watering too damn much, can you get better pics of the plant?
as far as the light goes, no. you need to use the same bulb to match the balast,

09-13-2006, 12:27 AM
Im pretty sure it was just from underwater cause i saw that the soil was not wet, but its at my brother in laws house so i cant take anymore pictures until i go over there again but when i go ill be sure to take some. Also i think im just gonna keep the fluros in there when flowering with maybe a 150 watt hps.

Thanx, and yes im in the process of making a carbon filter but the pc exhaust fan im using just doesnt seem to be blowing that hard enough to i think make it through the actual filter part. I also got some more pics of the grow ill post them up in a second i just gotta get them outta my email.

In a week im gonna go over and we are gonna cut some clones, do u think its to early? Will it be good to wait another 2 weeks? Also they are officially 4 weeks old as of yesterday.
orangeman
09-19-2006, 10:11 PM
It's still too early, give it another few weeks before you do that. I dont even see any avaliable growth tips that could be used for cloning :p.
delta9thc06
09-19-2006, 10:20 PM
Yeah i wasnt really thinking im gonna give it another 2 weeks atleast, but im gonna get a 150 watt hps in a couple days for flower. Also can u just buy straight up activated carbon or do u have to just get the charcoal filters? If u can buy it about how much does it go for?

They look really good duder, The tips of the leafs are bending down, Im pretty sure that may mean they are getting too much of somthing. Nutes.
I don't know too much though But when peoples plants do that in flowering its usually cuz too much nutes.
but theyu are nice a greenery

Hey, Delta9thc06, Your plants look very nice. You had some problems similar to mine in the beginning. Looks like you got that nute problem worked out. It did seem that the plants were a little over-watered, but looks like you got that fixed too.
About the mylar, I am currently using it too, and it is supposedly 98% reflective, blah, blah, but white paint is pretty close...and MUCH EASIER to work with, I would ass-u-me. I've had to tack things tape things and spray things, and all of this is not easy with mylar. :) Next time, I'm goin' matte white!
Good grow, bro! Sweet. :D
Check out my grow! In my sig.

And Thegreenfrog, mylar wasnt too bad to work with but i heavily concidered the white paint but it just was too complicated to have to go out and paint it a million coats so that the dark tubs dont show through. Im also soon gonna get a 150 watt hps and some clone gear and start the fun part.

Well i finally got arond to going to the hydro shop and buying tons of stuff. I got a humidity dome , tons of rockwool, rooting hormone, fox farms big growth, fox farms big bloom and gettin a 150 watt air cooled hps later today.I ended take nine clones off of 2 of the biggest plants and also topped one. I think there male anyway so it doesnt matter if they are messed up. But who knows one or both could be female i think i did it pretty well and im gonna take pics later on today. Also 2 plants are going great and real big and tose are the ones i cloned cause usually the biggest are male. The other 3 im giving them water with about a teaspoon of big growth per gallon and about 200 ml every 3-4 days. Also i made an entire new rubbermaid just to house the clones which i will also post later. One more thing, about how long til the clones take root?
delta9thc06
10-08-2006, 06:05 AM
So earlier today i went to the hydro shop and the guy talked us into getting the 400 watt hps, so im gonna get a rubbermaid cabinet they run around 150 bux tho. Ill have pics up in a minute.
