i do my job, to the best of my ability. $9/hr, biweekly pay. no union at the store im at now. well im expecting a fat check for 70+ hrs of work. i pick it up today expecting 550-600ish, and its $442.76.

while not bad at all(especially considering my old jobs), i need to replace my liscence back(lost it a few months ago), pay back $70 to my brother, plus books for school(i start on sept 6th). my school books alone could be close to 400. fucking fuck.

Yeah that sucks bro! I'm always doing it, thinking I'm gonna get paid x amount and then it's always a few hundred short of x. Dayuuum, ya think you'd learn eh?

Peace

A friend of mine says that if you expect the least and aim low you'll never be disappointed. Needless to say I don't see much of his no-hoping ass anymore!

Welcome to my sad little world.

The world of a broke college student.

I too have roughly the same job as far as money and paychecks, and believe me, I also hate when I'm expecting a fat check and I get a fraction of what I'm expecting.

The good thing is, for me at least, is that I seem to get a really large tax-return, so that sort of makes up for it, if you wanna look at it like that, lol.

Are you starting out college, too, yoda? My freshmen year alone I probably spent close to a G on books and shit, so it only gets worse. I try and get the ones I absolutely HAVE to get, and just go without the others. And my school also offers a re-sale program for used books, so after they're done collecting dust on my shelf, I can get a 1/4 of what I paid for them, but hey, lol, it's at least something.

Then I usually go and buy weed with that money, so I feel a little better about wasting my money on over-priced books. ~

do you claim the right deductions??? If they are taking to much out you will get a fat income tax return, you can buy a pound of pot with it,,, and make a fortune,,, and never have to buy any books again...

BTW it's been my experience not to put OT in for our reason, but it's better than a salary job with outragous hours and no OT...

I tried that my first semester last year, and it saved me some, but then every quarter after that I'd get my book list too soon before classes started and we HAD to have books, so I just got 'em at the school bookstore instead.

Guess that's how the college makes all its money then!? Lol.

if you're working part-time or over the summer you'll get back a good chunk of that, if not all with your tax returns next spring. if you are good at saving then declare a bunch of deductions (i always claimed 4) and your witholding tax will be MUCH less on each paycheck. but if you work full-time and do this it will most likely come back to bite you in the ass on april 15th...
