Okay, I know this isn't scientific but maybe something anyway. I'm kind-of an old dude (51). I was married almost 19 yrs. but my wife passed last winter. now I'm about ready to jump back in and would likw to know what to expect. So I have a question. Back in the day, women didn't shave much. Made for messy faced muff diving but I guess that'd be the case if you were into it anyway. So usually just stippers and porn stars were the only women who usually shaved. My wife complained of the itch factor. She shaved for me once but the itch was too much. So I read where 95% of women shave these days. Is that true? Or is that some porn statistic? Do you or people you've encoutered shave?

Some shave, Some make designs, All most all trim in someway, and Then there is like a hand full *decent looking* women that don't do one of the above. So the odds are in your favor if you don’t want an all natural girl.

Most of my friends shave, I shave everything but a little patch on top. I very rarely meet a girl who doesn't.

Shaved looks, feels, and tastes (hair in mouth) better. Shaved also can include a patch above, or whatever just as long as there aren't some big ol hairy lips stickin out.
most of the girls i know won't go a day w/o shaving, they just can't stand their own hair. as for myself i tend to shave an arrow pointing to my member so girls can see where i come from.

Sorry to hear about the loss of your wife.
I'm suprised to hear so many girls shave and who men like it (not all do).
I don't think it's anywhere close to 95%
Maybe very young women and women that have to shave for their job, but I think for the average (middle age) woman, it's a hassle and doesn't add enough to sex to make it worthwhile. (not to mention itch, stubble and possible infections.)
Important information:
It is believed that the functions of pubic hair include the dissemination of pheromones and protection from the friction of sexual intercourse. Pubic hair protects your vulva from bacterial infections. Women who remove their pubic hair are more vulnerable to bacterial infections??including urinary tract infections??as well as irritations on the vulva.
One of the most common problems with removing pubic hair is being predisposed to vulvitis, which means ??inflammation of the vulva,? characterized by an itchy, red, and swollen vulva, and in extreme cases, may include blistering.

Pathological Disease
Manifestations of "Ingrown Hairs" related to shaving pubic hair
Inflammation: The body's response to injury. Skin tissue is damaged after the shaving process and it usually causes pain, heat, redness, and swelling. These symptoms occur because blood vessels in the area dilate to bring in extra white blood cells to eat the bacteria and other foreign particles gathering at the site of injury. As a result, dead cells begin to accumulate thus forming papule that turn into pus during the healing process. Any hair in the area gets bound under this formation, cannot exit the skin properly, and worsens the affected area. The hair must be removed to ensure proper and complete healing.
Papule Formation: A small superficial raised abnormality or spot on the skin commonly known as a bump.
Pustule Development: A blister on the skin containing pus.
Bleeding: The rupture of an infected pustule and surrounding blood vessels due to their dilation and close proximity. These vessels are present and in a dilated condition to promote healing.
Micrococci: Colonies or clusters of bacteria that cause abscesses in affected tissue. Their presence cause the body to begin the healing effort by both collecting these harmful bacteria and also by building a wall around the bacteria to prevent further spreading throughout the body.
Leukocyte Count Increases: - The presence of white blood cells increases in a damaged or infected area to protect the body against foreign substances and to help produce antibodies.
Hypertrophy and Keloidal Scarring: Skin tissue begins to multiply in response to injury caused by the act of shaving, especially in sensitive areas (e.g. bikini line) thus causing Keloidal scarring. Keloid development is common in a small percentage of the population and is clearly defined as a hard, prominent, irregular shaped scar tissue, in the skin, often increasing in size. Keloidal scarring also usually occurs where healing injuries, burns, or surgical incisions are under tension.

The function of pubes...like ANY hair...IS TO KEEP SHIT WARM!
It's sensitive skin, it needs the warmth.
Pubic hair is usually all gross because we're slowly evolving not to have it because how long do you think we've been wearing pants?
That's just common sense, you dolt...if it had to do with bacterial infections (WHICH HAIR DOES NOT HELP PREVENT), then we'd have much more hair around our eyes than we do.
Think about how prone your eyes are to infections, then think how little hair they have to keep dirt out of them...now look at how much pubic hair you have.
Common sense, those researchers didn't know what they're talking about.
i always love your common sense

YOU callling ME a dolt?
So you're quite the expert on sex and women, huh?
Tell me how many times have you had sex with a woman? Touched a woman?
Perhaps you should become more familiar with female anatomy.

As for eyes, I've never had a period or a guy ejaculate in my eye, so I wouldn't know.
So why don't you go pluck your eyebrows and shave your pits and ass... cause I have better things to do than debate pubic hair with a trichophobic teenager (or man for that matter).

It is itcy at first but you get used to it.............lol........scratch....scratch...+ you never catch ya pubs in ya zip anymore....lol
Sorry about the loss aswell,i fear that day aswell.

I'm a dude, and every girl that i've been with either shaved or trimmed very close. Even the one girl that looked natural at first, ended up that she shaved her important bits.

Ah, another subject on shaving :D
My preference with a girl is either totally shaven (no stupid patches of hair in various shapes) or a girl who lets the bush grow but keeps it trimmed (IE it is still the triangle shape but trimmed VS a wild muff). I sort of lean more towards the latter to be honest as I've always thought the pictures I use to look at of Renaissance women to be very classy and sexy in a very artsy way... Completely shaven does look a little whorish but... Whorish can be a good thing :smokin:

I'm the guy who started this thread. My wife was Korean. The one time she did shave, she did it for fun but after that the memory of the itch bother prevented her ever doing it again. But at that time she explained about an old "Koren Custom?" (probably Chinese, I don't know) that when women wanted to leave their husbands, they would cut their pubes, put 'em in an envelope, and send them to the husband. Kind of saying "no more for you". Ain't that cool?

If you want pretty much guaranteed shaved folks, look no further than Muslims. I lived in Turkey for a while, and everybody shaved. The womens' pubes, all shaved. Underarms and legs? Shaved, and some of those even by the men. I'm not a very hairy guy, but I'll tell ya, living in an area dominated by Muslims, I was one of the hairier guys there, because shaving my underarms and my legs...that just felt a little too feminine, and I couldn't make myself do it.

I thought so too. If you don't mind me asking, is your handle, or whatever they call it here, meant as "fuck the world'' in a pissed off way, or like you love it all? You don't even have to answer that, of course, if you don't want to.

Hate to call foul on JM's citing of hair's function (keeping shit warm I believe it was) but I gotta do it.
The role of a hair folicle depends on it's location. Hair comes in a varity of forms, just compare a hair on your head to an eyelash, or a pube. Different locales mean difference functions. In this case, warmth is a secondary concern, the primary ones being lubricity and retention of scent.
Women have 80% more scent producing glands than men do, I'll leave it to your imagination to guess where they're mainly concentrated ;) For a species with very poor night vision, an added medium was provided to help guys navigate in an olfactory sense, down to the goods. Handy when you're living in a cave with no indoor lighting I guess.
For those that doubt the lubricity aspect of hair, go get a Brazilian and shave your armpits bare - then go run in a marathon. When you're out of the burn unit, let us know how that went down.
Personally, I love vag in all of it's incarnations (the disease-free kind anyway!). A girl I used to play with was proud of never taking a razor down there, telling me she'd rather look like she belonged in a 70s porno than get those little bumps shaving girls are prone to. I know it sounds crude, but she had the sweetest pussy I've ever munched. Not sure if there was a correlation.
If a girl prefers a landing strip or even The Bald Eagle(tm), hey that less for me to worry about when I'm storming the gates. I'm guilty of cursory manscaping myself. I'd be embarrassed if I'm getting my hog smoked and someone gets a tickle in their nose or something. Oh, and for those who haven't seen it yet: http://www.shaveeverywhere.com Even if your not in the market, check it out cuz it's funny as hell.

You don't dine at The Y? I guess it's not for everyone. If a small number of girls can be militantly anti-hummer, then I guess it's fine for some guys to hold a similar veiw.
I myself am proud to be cunning linguist. I'm told I have a huge tongue too. ;)
