Why do prices vary so much? Where i live the norm for a gram is $20
depends on alot of things, how strict laws are, how populated an area is, what regon and area is at ect ect

I think even though prices vary if you look hard enough theres always someone selling for 10 a gram ... thats what I consider a universal price. I could be wrong though. In MA a gram varies from 10-20.00 a gram and I have got weed from 4 diffrenet states and its the same thing. Just look harder becuase there always someone selling for cheaper then the next guy.

I find that a lot of it depends on how wealthy the area is. Here in the bay, in the rich areas of Oakland and oter cities, it can be $20 a gram, and even more. On the flipside, when I'm down in Santa Cruz, $10 a gram is on the high end of the scale. This is probably because of A. The university (UCSC), and B. Santa Cruz, while not a poor city by any stretch, is still off in the sticks a bit, and tends to collect more people who are down on their luck than say Piedmont (super rich city in the middle of Oakland) does.
Also, how strict the laws are in that area have a major influence. White Widow in Kentucky and White Widow in SF are going to be different prices simply because SF is a lot more lenient when it comes to cannabis than Kentucky is, and so growers/dealers don't have to take as much risk, and that usually means a lower overhead.

Yeah I get grams for $10, Quarters for $25, Halves at $50 and O's at $100. That's what I consider (roughly) the universal price (from all the area's i've bought from, anyway).

Because there's no global marijuana market, due to the fact that it's sort of illegal, so dealers can charge what they want.
Prices are impossible to judge on a scale of high and low if the grade of bud is not identified. I think that it also depends on how many growers live in the area who know what they are doing. Competition is a consumer's best friend but if one grower has a manopoly on the bud in his town he decides how fat his pockets will be.
