I like bob marley and all but i rarely admit it though. Around these parts we have these fake people who say they listen to BM or have shirts or stickers of him but really dont. They do it fit a "mold", like "hey i smoke weed, so i automatically love bob marley now and all of raggae"....Im sure this isnt a phenomenon only in my neck of the woods.

Marley was a master ... but was not the originator... he probably did more to promote reggae music in the western world that any other single artist... but he was not the first dread to leave the Island to carry the message - that honour goes to Peter Tosh...

But, if you love the Marley stuff, then I recommend that you go pick up some Garnett Silk, and Barrington Levy (especially Double Trouble), and, of course, some Freddy McGregor ..

This bothers me a bit. Like several times random people that i have been talking to are like. "ya like Bob Marley?" just cuz I have dreads. I NEVER answer yes just to throw em off a bit. I like Bob, but like the poster previous to me said, not gonna run out and get every album or download all his songs, actually I rarely play his music, just the same, I like Janice Joplin, but I'm not even sure I got a single song of hers in my possession..

All i really listen to now is BOB MARLEY, PETER TOSH, Bone Thugs, and Tech N9ne.....I have nearly all of Bob Marley's songs.


BTW: Has anyone heard the remastered version of "No More Nuclear War"(the album) by Peter Tosh, its awesome!

Bob marley is defnitely one of the most important people of all time in my opinion. haha but it kinda bothers me when people say he wrote the song smoke 2 joints. he most certainly did not do that song at all.

Especially Amsterdam...I was in Marley heaven! A lot of his songs just make me feel good...stoned or not.
