it depends... it's not worth it for me, cuz i already do enough working out at work, lifting stuff of a weight from anywhere between 10 and 60 kg.... all day... for 12 hours or more, aswell as other physically taxing stuff, like running around everywhere, frantically cleaning stuff etc. etc.... so it all depends on what u do all day i guess, but for me it would be a waste of my very little spare time. :D
Peace :)

I do the same kind of thing that Wesley does. I do labour all day inside of a 3deg weather fridge for 9hrs a day. Lifting boxes of frozen meat that weigh anywhere from 15lbs to 90lbs.
That's how I lost so much weight in the first place. I bike 2km to work, work hard all day, and bike home. I get my excerise, while making money.
If you have a job that you sit down all day you need to do a lot of working out before and after work to get any results. That's why i never want a desk job. I'd just get fatter and fatter. :p

Definately worth it. If you're not going to do it for your physical look, at least work out, walk, jog, whatever to keep your heart and the rest of your body healthy. The USA is insanely overweight, so you don't want to contribute to the obesity statistics! :p
On that note, I don't work out much, like actually going to a gym or doing exercises. My daily activities and the foods I eat keep me healthy and in shape.

I love to work out. I kinda destresses me. I guess it just depends on the person.
My sister wont work out for nothing, and shes got a jiggle butt now.

Oh how I can equate! I Bike the same 2Km to work, spend all day runnin my ass off, lifting 75-80 Lb rolls of Maylar on to a pair of 400 degree presses, testing Balloons, keepin my pullers on their toes, Doing paperwork, entering data into the company computers, all in a 105-115 degree shop!
For fun I ride 40-60 miles on each day on weekends, and 20 or so miles after work...Workout?? I'm a living, breathing workout!!

Think of it this way its not like youd work out hard for 5 months, get an awesome body, and then be like "damn I wish I never did that"
Im ripped and it makes me a narcissist whenever I take my shirt off for any reason though which is very uncharacteristic of me

I think I get enough exercise everyday walking up and down stairs.
I live on the fourth floor, my good buddy lives on the seventh, and my other good buddy lives on the fourth in the building over.
Plus, I always walk to work and I rarely take taxis or the bus.
But I don't think working out will help you get the ladies. Only the shallow ones. :smokin:
But sometimes that's what you need...hmmmm. :glugglug:

That's true. Out here I almost never see a fat person. And I think in a year and half I could count the number of morbidly obese people on one hand.
If I were back home, forget about it. :smokin:
I think alot of it has to do with the American diet. The food here is so much more healthy, and they really don't eat alot of meat like us. Small portions. :stoned:

Wow, that sounds like a warm place to work. I can't stand working in the heat man.
I used to have a job in a warehouse, with a tin roof, no air conditioning, and we weren't allowed to open any doors in the warehouse because of safety hazard, while it's 30degC outside. It felt like I was a baking potato in tinfoil man. I hated it! All awhile I was pulling around 1000-2000lb skids of product, with a fucking handjack!
That's why I moved to a freezer job so I'd have some more energy and not get so grumpy.
On the weekends or my time off I usually spend an entire morning or afternoon bking all over the place. I usually do anywhere from 20-35km on my days off.
You feel better too when you're in better shape. You don't get as tired, you don't sleep as much, well I don't anyways. There was a point where I was 285lbs, and I slept 11hrs a night and was awake for only 13hrs or so out the day. I was very tired and unmotivated, and unhappy too.
Now I sleep maybe 8hrs a night and live a more active lifestyle.

Working out can be as simple as walking. I lost about 50 lbs just by walking along a ocean trail that was 4 miles. Did it everyday, twice on the weekends. Double chin melted, I could see what muscles I had left, and eventually built up the strength to jog the entire trail...in the sand!
You don't have to go to a gym everyday...park further out in a parking lot, walk around a mall just for fun, use the stairs instead of an elevator. Simple things like that will help keep your body in some shape without over exerting.

Hey, that's OK. If someone listens, then I did my good deed for the day.
But seriously, I went through this with my wife. She wanted surgery, then she wanted pills, then she started trying all these new fangled diets, then I said, "ENOUGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, who they hell do you think I am, Rockafeller!?!?". Laziness gets expensive...
I make her walk with me everyday, just around our complex. She only does 1.5 miles, but I do about 3 - 4. She feels better, she's losing the weight, and it costs me nothing, nadda, zippo, zilch. Win...win.
I ain't saying you have to come up with this detailed regime and live by it faithfully. But for Jeebus sakes, if you got your hand permanently attached to a box of Ho-Ho's, don't complain your ass is spreading!

Working out is how I maintain my sanity as well as my body. It truly keeps me grounded and calm and happy. It's the best anti-depressant in the world. And it's also amazing how undepressed you feel when you look good in clothes (or out of them!). In addition to the health benefits Big Cal listed above, exercise has also been proven to reduce the risk of several types of cancer, breast, colon, and prostate among them. I plan to still be kicking butt at the gym when I'm 100 years old.

Working out? It totaly depends on the person's psychology. Is being healthy worth the effort it takes? Is looking good worth the effort it takes? Are you wanting to do something with your life that requires physical fitness? If the answer is "yes" to any of these questions, you have your answer.
The answer might change in different periods of your life as well. You could take a year off to be as fat and lazy as you want, just because you feel like it. Maybe the next year you wanna get some nookie, or take a job that is demanding physicaly, so you shape up.
Personaly, I train to fight in MMA (I want to be in the UFC some day as my boyhood dream). I NEED to be in shape, so I spend about 4-5 hours a day training in various ways, being sure not to overtrain, and give good rest time for recovery. It takes alot of work to be a successfull, steroid free fighter, so to me it is worth it, but I can't answer for the rest of you.

Of course. It's good for your heart, your lungs, muscles, you sleep better, general improvement of mood, etc.
