What if Marijuana was Fake?

I don't know, just came up with this thought so follow me on this. What if marijuana had no phycoactive properties and the only reason you got "high" was because you imagined it so to speak. A placebo effect.

All you'd have to do is give it to somebody in food who doesn't know it's weed, and observe the effects.

Well, I know this is not the case and that pot does have a reaction in the brain. Was just throwing the idea out there. But I read a thread in here of some guy selling someone repacked cigarettes as joints and the person he sold them to said he got stoned.

There is a high with tobacco. It is a stimulant high. He could have been a newbie smoker and did not know the difference.

agreed, and by no means is the herb any placeabo, i know for a fact i couldn't have finished that grande meal from taco bell without it

Actually, tobacco gives me a WAY more powerfull high (I don't smoke, normally), sometimes so intense I can't stand up. Only lasts for about 4-5 minutes though.

On another note, I've done magic mushrooms 5 times and they didn't trip me out half as hard as when I was new to weed. I remember my second time smoking (the first was an incomprehensible blur) I was sitting there with my eyes closed falling down complex pattersn of colours. Then somebody threw some Megadeth on and I sat there saying "megadeth, megadeth, megadeth" just to focus my mind on something to hold it together. Finally I realized that I was standing (when I thought I was sitting) saying it and people were saying "man, I want whatever that guy's having!", and a fell down laughing unable to respond.

There's some radio show from the 70's called Spook Radio or something like that containing a lot of info on this project. This guy who was taken away by some CIA agents was saying that they took them to labs and gave them random drugs(sometimes sugar pills) at random times. All the subjects were either heroin addicts or recovering from being one.. Spooky story!


Oh yea also.. this other guy said the CIA stopped the projects after some time because "they didn't like the look in their subjects' eyes".

The high on pot is based on your expectations. It seems to me that low expectations give me a much better high.

It couldn't be a placebo effect. For instance, someone who gets high for the first time has no idea what to expect. And yet, they exhibit the same characteristics as all us stoners. It's too universally similar to be something your mind created. If it was, then the effects of marijuana would be different for everyone.
