does anyone know any good p2p programs that don't contain spyware or extra shit coming with the program

I'm trying to avoid torrent programs simply because I don't quite get how to work them yet

I'm looking for a program similar to winmx, and that will run on an older model computer, and doesn't run on java

any help is appreciated

P2P is worthless for anything BUT music

I use limewire though, my downloads generally go faster(music)then other programs

That's probably because music is only about 2 or 3 MB and movies or whatever else you DL is in the high 90s or 100s

 no, programs like winmx take like 15minutes to download a damned song, also half the time its impossible to even complete a movie on p2p because no one is sharing it, limewire i can get a song in no more then 30seconds.

Movies download at 20KBps IF YOU ARE LUCKY
Music will download around 70-900KBps for me.

winmx was good for me

my music downloaded pretty fast

i just downloaded ares

it wouldn't connect even after I fiddled with the settings

plus it came with some whenusave bullshit and it was running slow

slipknotpsycho

where did you go to get yours? if it had whenusave with it, then i'm willing to bet you didn't get it from the real ares site... also, you might want to download the lite version, as it runs better on slower computers...

http://aresgalaxy.sourceforge.net/

btw to whoever says you can't dl movies with ares or p2p programs.. HAH i've downloaded well over 30 GIGS worth the movies in just under a week or so, and no it doesn't take forever, on average for me, 3 hours tops often running at over 150kbps

i have cable tho, so if you don't got cable then don't expect my results, if you do and you use ARES then something isn't right... that's the best p2p program out there imho.. doesn't take up alot of system use, and has more then enough people on to get almost anything youc an think of. but when ares does fail for me (very rare) i turn to limewire, which eats the shit out of my system...

and yes winmx kicked all kinds of ass, i loved that program.... too bad they shut it down =/ fuckin RIAA

Not necessarily true, I use eMule/eDonkey, it takes ages to start up downloads and yeah you can't download most thing's straight away but if you leave the computer on while your out, you'll come back and find whole 500meg movies + fully downloaded, the only thing about p2p that people don't like is you actually have to have some consideration for other people, and share what you download, its always good too leave your upload capacity at maximum because the more people upload the faster you can download, and it really does work.

All P2P programs are gonna put you at risk and prolly at some point, give you a virus. Some are a little safer than others. For basic P2p, I ;ole limewire, but make sure you're virus software is updated and running when using that shit. The best by far is torrents. You can still get screwed, but it seems that most people don't seed torrents that are malicious. It's not hard to figure out. If you're behind a router and having trouble, then troubleshooting it will give you a better understanding of your setup.

Every body seem to like Lime Wire. Maybe it's one guy following the next but I personally use BearShare. I prefer that over Lime Wire...

~incorrect buzzer noise~ if i can avoid it, i will, like i said that eats the shit out of my comp's memory.. where as ares peaks at like 20k, limewire often goes well above 150k BIG diffrence...
