View Full Version : When to start flowering???

It has been 1 month since my seeds germinated, the guys from Green House Seeds told me that i should start flowering after 10 days or so, if i want to have a final height of 60-70cm at harvest time. I guess they were talking about 10 days of veg period. So would be too early or too soon to start when my babes are around 20-25cm tall???? And do i really need a 3 gallon container to grow a plant that wont be taller then the height im aiming for?
Hoping for some help in these matter!!!
Thanks for your time!

If that's the cabinet they're going to flower in, and if you have weeded out the males (if there were any), then yes, it's a good time to flower now. They look very healthy, btw, good job! ;)
If you're aiming for 75cm tall plants, then you could maybe wait another week. 75cm plants can be pretty big and lush and take up a lot of space though. I had probs fitting three plants that size in a 48"wx20"d area, personally. Here's a pic of three plants which I vegged too long, and which then exploded during flowering. It's been a battle. Heh.

Great site to watch bro!
I think by the begining of next week ill turn the lights to 12/12. By what you saw, do you think i could get at least 1/4 of what you have going on over there???

Yield questions are hard to answer, because there are so many factors that affect it. Good genetics, temperature, nutrients, pot size, ventilation, light. The holy grail is 1 gram per watt of lighting. Be happy if you reach half of that, and whatever you did wrong, learn from that and improve for the next grow. You can't predict eventual yield from the pics of a couple of young plants. I wish you could!

when you're plants tell you there ready, meaning when the pre-flowers have shown.

When to start flowering depends upone the size of your cabinet and if your plants tell you that they are ready. Most plants will tell you they are ready by showing you there pre-flowers.

If you decide to pinch them as suggested you have to wait another 2-3 weeks for them to recover and make new growth.

I wouldn't pinch them unless your tight on space and rather than pinching them I would LST them, better results and better for the plants. Also like
Kush07 said, you should wait until your plants are ready and show you there pre-flowers or you'll probably have problems getting them into flower and bad results durning flowering.

The first pic is a picture from Jorge Cervantes Indoor Bible, and it shows early signs of male sex. The second pic is one of my plants, hard to see, but in the center of the picture you can see something like the first pic!
Are those the same male pre-flowers???

That Jorge Cervates pic on the left shows a node REALLY early so the average newb isn't going to be helped much by it!
I have that book and you kind of have to take a lot of the info with a grain of external research!
Give yourself a little time, but your plant looks good. FYI females tend to be squatter and bushier than males of the sme strain....

Since they have grown bigger, ive started flowering the plants today. Just exchanged 4 cool tubes with warm ones.
About space, is it enough???

Wow, I hope you know that they are gonna grow a lot bigger than that right? A plant can double and triple in size during flowering. Unless you can raise the lights or lower the plant, you are screwed. What's the height of your grow box?

I heard they can grow shorter if you train/prune them
Indica grow x2 their height without modifications.

Grow space!!! my bigest concern still!!! I know about the space issue, but i hope the 35cm that they have left to grow will b enough. The height inside the grow box is around 90 cm, if you take out the pot out, you get 60-65cm of space.

put it this way....im making a new one just 3 days after i constructed my other one......space is an issue...its a bitch but it has to be done

.
After starting 12/12, pruning is very bad.
But training (bending) is still okay.

What would happen if i cut main cola when its around 5 weeks into flowering?
Would the remaining branchs still produce buds???
