I'm not even sure if I should call this wilting or not ... it actually looks as if the plant is just seeing more light coming from below than above? It's weird.

looks like overwatering,you are going to have a hard time starting a plant that small in a bucket that big.makes it almost impossible to tell when it needs water

Yeah definitely overwatering. Are you just using pure perlite as a soil soiless medium?

That's a very good point. And if you water the whole pot, parts of the lower soil are going to pretty much stay soggy because there are not enough roots to use up the water, and you could get rot.

I'd say to water your plants use one of those cheap little plastic squeezy things they put ketchup in at diners, and just carefully water at the base of the seedling.

Generally you should start seedlings in a small container.

Point taken! I'm going to cut my watering down to about half what I've been doing, and only right around the plant. The soil doesn't go all the way to the bottom of the pot, btw.
