Hey im a first timer, just got a 600watt HPS light, im only gonna b growin 1 plant at a time. av i gone abit overboard or is this gonna help the growth alot. also is a 5ft hight enough?

oh and for the soil, could i get away with using compost mixed wi perlite (bout 25%) and bonemeal.

600watts puts out a insane amount of heat you better have really good cooling equipment as well.

the soil should be fine with about a half cup of bonemeal added to it and you have plenty of hieght

You should start at least 2 plants at a time to give yourself a better chance at getting a female. Also, if you're just growing one plant, read up on low-stress training (LST) Heres a good example (http://boards.cannabis.com/showthread.php?t=77007), topping, or screen of green to increase your yield off a single plant.
