Ok, THis is the goveremnt, by the people for teh people, no doubtly this idea might have been thought of before, and no doubtly will again..

Everyone is talking about when will the senators/govenors start talking about medical marijauna..... thats not evne close to decriminalzation(sp)...... Point being, this is OUR REPUBLIC

This is the plot.... say you walk up to the mayors office, and ask for a poll, that you and your team of say 5 guys are going to ask people.....

You 6 get approved for a poll..... If you go around to all of the inner city(majority of population), suburbs, family resisdences, business owners.... and do it 2 days out fo the week for 5 hrs each day..... 10 hours in 2 days.... hmmm, i wonder how easy it would be to have a pamphlet on Jail rates, research done, Overpopulation of prisons, and the low risk of marijuana, with a few examples like Denver, and ALL of Alaska. We could have a few senior citizens sign, and say well, we dont think its ever gonna pass, but sure, i love to see the effort......

so the first 2 days are extrodinary, you each get over 1,000 signatures.

after 3 weeks, you have enough to make a bill to congress for crying out loud... lol

We do this in every city in america.....

we take this to the mayor, govenerors, and senate.....

YOU SAY, what if the numbers are ignored?????
well, EVER See TV stations do some stupid 5 min script becuase someone didnt pay for gass, or soemthing anal because someone complained.....

The president gets paid roughly $10 million a year. He spends well over $200 million to get the job. Who do you think he's working for?

This is your brain. These are the facts of political life in Washington. Any questions?

No, all ideas towards something pro-marijuana to the government aren't even considered. Marijuana is bad to them.

Tobacco claims the lives of 440,000 Americans per year
Alcohol claims the lives of 45,000 Americans per year
Illegal drugs claim the lives of 4,500 Americans per year
In 10,000 years, marijuana has claimed the lives of no human beings.
Marijuana isn't going to make you beat up your friends, steal from your friends or anything that most other things will make you do. The government is just ignorant to this and cannot afford to be faced with this issue, so they ignore it and tell people that it's as bad as heroin. This is crap and everyone needs to know it. You can't kill anyone if you can't find your car keys :)

Umm, this is a republic, not a democracy. If the people were in charge, that would be one thing. But instead we have elected "representatives" that we choose from a small pool of rich bureaucrats who do all the thinking for us and tell us what to do. Choosing your masters is not the same as being in control of society. If the people were really in control of social affairs, there would be no need for government, since the people could just do whatever it is they decide needs to be done. All governments are anti-democratic by definition. A government of the people, by the people and for the people is an oxymoron. Governments are external entities to the people consisting of authoritarian hierarchies whose purpose is to make rules saying what the people are and are not allowed to do.

It is no surprise, then, that our elected representatives do not act in our interests once they get into office; they are free from any obligation to fulfill their campaign promises, and are free to act in the interests of corporations and the state without giving two shits what the people want to see done. When you give a small sector of society the power to dictate the rules by which society is run, you can't seriously expect them to invent rules solely in the interests of the powerless masses of people who are obliged to follow them.

Some geeza said that at the time when women started smoking, the product was advertised to them as a penis; it was a way of making them think that they would be more powerful with their own willy!! Women getting educated in 1800s? Then accepting having their own 20 cocks in a box sometime later... ERRRRRRRRRR, I'm not sure why I just made that remark, ERRRRRRRRRRRR Government will stitch you good and propper before giving you what you want. They'd sooner make it compulsory to have a gun in your glove box in the name of Terror so you can shoot up Mohammed down the lane, before giving in to some lame petition... where do i sign?

To be realistic.. I don't know just how effective any of those types of things will be. They only enfuriate the government and force them to take an even firmer stance on their views on the drug.

The only thing that really makes changes is the people. If it were more accepted in society, and the myths were dispelled, then we would start seeing changes. In places like New York and Denver, decriminalization has already taken place, and only small fines are given for marijuana posessions.. thats because I can atleast speak for New York, and say there is a general disregard for laws such as speeding and marijuana smoking, so both are considered to be regulated very leniently around here..

You see, the government is for the people, like you even said. The thing is, the majority of the people still look down upon Marijuana. Its still a minority that see the benefits of it, and alcohol and tobacco have proven that substance addiction is all too common, so keeping marijuana illegal is really one of the only ways they have of regulating it.

Why reinvent the wheel? All you have to do is join MPP, NORML and/or SAFER. They are using voter referendums to bypass the governments corruption and force the issue. Petitions, like Dutch Masta said, just piss them off and get ignored. Voter referendums, however, use the law to make them comply with the voters will.

A petition can be ignored. A referendum becomes the law. I like it because our officials are forced to uphold the very law they hated and fought.

These organizations are where every positive change in the marijuana laws have come from. Just like they taught in the military, reinforce success to achieve your objective.

You don't make any sense...

And yeah that's a good idea and all, but I'm not even sure it's legally possible to create an Amendment petition to federal government. And if it were, it would take years, decades even to get the signatures and then definitely decades while they take their sweet time verifying it. No, the more practical way would be the way we're going now, which is to take a state-oriented approach. If it's legalized in a few states, there will be hardly any federal intervention on users, people will become more open minded, and the truth may come out. I think an even better idea is public awareness. I'm still not sure why organizations like NORML and the MPP haven't spent more funding on TV, radio and print ad campaigns to counter the bullshit spread by FreeVibe, Abovetheinfluence, etc... instead of spending it entirely on political contributions, publications, merchandising, etc...

Funding. MPP and NORML just don't have the budgets these prohibition groups do. They have to spend their money more wisely.

It is up to us, if we truly believe in this issue, to take responsibility for educating people through word of mouth. Any advertiser will tell you how important and powerful word of mouth advertising is.

Hemp4Billions has a genius idea. Most people don't realize it's an issue of personal freedom....what would be really wicked bad would be a massive petition campaign followed by a massive massive rally at the Washington Monument, where all the uber-famous celebrities who smoke can speak...I mean, this is America, right? Isn't this what we do? Ahhh...pipe dreams until we get motivated...

And the government will ignore all that effort, money and resources. In fact, they will create jokes about it. The point of a referendum over a petition is that they CAN NOT ignore it. It turns into law and they have no choice but to uphold it. THAT is how you kick the government right in the balls.

I'm all about getting everyone to truly understand what weed is all about, and dispell their ignorant thoughts on it..

But people have to want to understand this. Its like those jehovas witnesses that ring the doorbell of every street in the city. With NO interest and complete opposite beliefs of everything they are presenting, its only obvious that probably not a single person even so much as took them seriously. It works the same for anything, nobody can just go around telling people that marijuana should be made legal, when most other people are convinced it shouldn't.. and expect to make progress. Its about a general understanding that needs to take place first before any changes.
