Alright, I hope this isn't what I think it is, because for one thing I want high quality buds ... and for two, I want to be able to clone it. BUT ... my first and second nodes are like ... almost on top of eachother (the stem is also red, but ... okay). This is bagseed, so I never saw the original plant.

What makes you think it's lowryder? Did the person you got the bag from tell you that?
All you can do is wait and see if it autoflowers...
Short internodal distance- all that is is a sign you've got adequate light.

Those nodes will space out a little once it starts to grow, they won't stay that close forever. But yeah, if it's not stretching thats a good thing, and lots of seedlings have colored stems that just end up turning back to green, most of mine start off purple-red too. It makes for pretty pics :)

:) Well thanks, guys! I feel a lot better now. I have it under seven CFL's not more than two inches away at the closest and three at the furthest, in a cab made out of two rubbermaid tubs, in a jiffy pot (used to germ), placed into rockwool, placed into dirt, and that white stuff at the top of the dirt is pearlite. It actually seems to be doing pretty well, considering I have nothing reflecting the light back at all. This is at one week, by the way.

Lookin good man. Just wondering, what is the perlite on top of the soil for? I know that if you mix it in it helps with drainage, but I'm guessing it helps to keep you from disturbing the soil when you water? That seedling in the pic was grown under cfl's, all that stretching it did was on a window sill when it sprouted, it quit as soon as we got it under lights. You can see pics of how my box, well, actually a closet, looked with the CFL's hanging from chains on the ceiling here. (http://boards.cannabis.com/showthread.php?t=77498) I've seen someone else on here that had a badass rubbermaid box grow with cfls and one hell of a job LST'ing his plant. Good luck :rasta:

Perlite on the soil is great.
It discourages pests.
It reflects light back way better than dirt.
It keeps small particles of soil from splashing on the leaves when you water, which can lead to fungus.

Bingo. Those are the effects I was hoping for.

Awesome man, I'd seen hydroton used on top of soil before too, but I never knew the whole purpose. I do have a fat bag of perlite just sitting around, I'm gonna have to do that. Thanks SA

Perlite is preferable to hydroton. That stuff is expensive and hard to pick out of the soil when you're done. And it doesn't reflect light. Well, it does, otherwise it would be black, but yo uknow what I mean!

Yeah, I've never used hydroton, just seen pics. It makes sense though, and perlite you don't have to pick out just stir right in lol.

The only time I've seen hydroton used for topdressing is for regular ornamental houseplants in a commerical setting like an office building. I think you can get fancy colors of the stuff to match your blah corporate 'decor' too!
