I've been to both Cow Hydroponics and Brew and Grow. There are a few of the brew and grows. if you search illinois hydroponics stores on google you'll find hydro store listing.
I should say that the guy at cow's was really cool and gave me a bag of free starter plugs since they had no verm and i was only buying a couple small bags of hydroton (25$ tops).

its in rockford, i prefer cows because it's a small business, though i have to go to brew and grow because i don't grow plants, and i need brewing supplies actually, and the supplies aren't actually for brewing....
