Marijuana was initially made illegal for an accumulation of those explained reasons.

But its only still illegal because its suffering from the problems that were created due to the fact that it was made illegal in the first place. Theres irony for you!

Marijuana is illegal because it undermines the government's ability to control our minds.

Precisely.

“Isn't it interesting how cigarettes and alcohol, the two drugs that do NOTHING for you, are legal, while pot and mushrooms, two drugs that open your eyes to how you're being fucked every day, are illegal. Isn't it interesting? I'm sure they have our best interests at heart...” —Bill Hicks
