I don't understand, my plants are about 3.5ft from a 400w HPS lamp, they aren't burning, but they are stretching, I don't understand, last time I used a fluro and they stretched like mad, so I thought I'd use this, but it aint working  I dunno what to do, they aren't being burnt yet, but they are only a few days old and I'm really concerned :(
any help would be great

You can just veg them with flo and keep it like 1 or 2 inch away.

its streching cause your light is too far away i use hps for the entire grow and my plants do not stretch just lower the light 1 foot above them

If you still have your flouros I suggest using them. Flouros can get REALLY close to plants without burining. Make sure the flouros you have are cool and not warm though.

I would use both ligths.hps about a foot away and the flos for for fillin light.
Good luck with your grow

Last grow, I used fluro for like 2/3 weeks old then used the HPS for a further 5 weeks with no problems. Although thinking about it now the nodes were pretty far apart.... The only fluro I got is 1 crappy one and I broke the fitting, not the bulb. I moved the plants last night figuring the distance was a problem. They aren't a foot away but they are less than 2. Hopefully that's the problem solved. Fortunately I always spread my seeds over a few days that way, I minimize the damage and only stress 1 or 2 plants out before I figure the problem out.
<edit>I always thought it was MH for flower and HPS for veg. What a dumbo!<edit>
Thanks guys
