  HEy guys how you guys doing? I'm currently living in South Korea (due to my dad's business) and i lived here for about a good month. Well i been thinkin of growing my own plant but there is one problem... I emailed one of the shops called Online growshop alien (i think their shop is in netherland), and asked if they could ship lights to south korea. and their responce was typical, and they said you should check the local laws. i couldnt understand why i should check the law, since im not importing seeds or anything. And im afraid to send money to them, since the total cost would come around $500. Im screwed because i dunno how to check their laws, and i dunno how to read their language...can any experts help me out?!?!?!? :(
heres the link to the site:

thier responce isnt exaxtly helpfull, as you said, a light isnt in itself illegal, thousands of people use them for growing normal vegiatables etc.
maybe you will get better results shopping at a general "gardeners" hydro shop, rather than an outfit geared towards growing weed.
alternatively, you could try these guys based in the UK that i use, they are really helpfull and happy to chat about your particular needs, and they are savy enough not to ask any awkward questions if you know what i mean.
since your going to be spending a reasonable amount of money im sure they will sort somthing out with you, or at least point you in the right direction

This may be a stupid question, but do they have hydro shops in South Korea? You can just walk in to a hydro shop and buy what you need without shipping. The lights, fertilizers and containes at hydro shops are used for everyday gardening. But I have never been to South Korea though.
I took my wife to the hydro shop when I got my lights, and while I was looking around deciding which to buy, another couple bought a grow set up as well. Local hydro shops make it easy cause you can pay in cash if you like. Peace

I seriously doubt they have hydro shops in south korea...but you can find HPS/MH, Fl, CFL if you look hard enough man. Do some searching.
I live in China and I just found some HPS lights. South Korea is far more developed. Go to hardware stores. Markets. Look around.

Hey guys i finally stumbled into one site that sell HPS and Metal Halide lights. However the ballast and the projector (Not the reflector!) are also included but they said these lights are for shows, audtoriums ect ect. QUestion: CAN I USE THESE LIGHTS TO GROW EVEN THOUGH THEY ARE FLOODLIGHTS???

I don't understand the language on that website, but you have found your source for grow lights :)
You can grow plants with those Compact FL's (cool and warm for veg and flower) and those help keep the electricity bill down. Or you could use Metal Halide for veg and HPS for flower. They should NOT be the shape of a floodlight. Metal Halide bulbs are clear and have a belly and the HPS are also clear and but skinny.
As far as the reflector, I'm not sure why it would be illegal. Even guns which kill people are not illegal. If you can't get a reflector, just make sure most of your light is hitting the plants or else it will be a waste of electricity. Just pretend that you grow fruits and vegetables when shopping for grow supplies and you don't have to worry about it. Good Luck over there.

that link you put up has the bulbs your looking for, the top line , both hps and MH! further down, theres even what looks like a 400w full spectrum HPs....the one thats flshing red and blue...perfect.
just to add, HPs and MH are used in the UK for industrial/warehouse lighting, as they are bright, long life and cheap to run....that could be an alternative cover for buying them
avoid football stadium type lights though, which look like big security lights.

Lucky bastard finding that website...China doesn't have anything like that.
DAMN those developed countries! :smokin:
I have to haul my ass all over town to little open air markets, hardware stores, and the like looking for lights and materials, which is a major pain in the ass.
