whats the best way to keep cannabis fresh?

vaccuum (sp?) seal, put away, not touched a lot.
if gets dry. use an orange peel...
i think that works for a bit.
i had some weed from like a year ago and found like a g.
and got blazed from it.
it was kinda dry but all good.
